lol the prices are getting kinda ridiculous...looking at SCG I feel like everything playable has doubled in price (and everything is "out of stock"...yeah right)....Damnation 50bucks? the rewards one 60? really? Urborg is suddenly for 30? and there are many many more......... I can go to my LGS right now and buy all these cards for half of this new price, but I am not even sure I should do this...
You also have to understand many shops does take scg prices as a reference. Some of them even sell based on scg prices.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
Only way Goyf goes down is if they decide to massive print him, Like for example if every green precon had 4x of him in it (like the walmart/target/EVERYWHERE) precons.

Can check out tcgplayer and ebay as well, all those cards have gone up significantly lately. If your lgs hasn't updated prices recently then that's not a surprise that they would be cheaper there for now. Its also entirely possible that they are out of stock (or at least out of stock for their online supply due to the needs for their on-site tournament demand as well as increased demand for the cards of late that caused the price increases in the first place. Often SCG is one of the first places to have their inventory bought out, because people know SCG will honor whatever prices their cards are sold at, regardless of a price increase after the cards are sold. Whether you choose to potentially take advantage of the old prices at your lgs is if course up to you and likely depends on whether you need any of the cards for decks or otherwise at the moment. Some of the increases are likely from mass speculation, others are from new decks making use of the cards, and still others simply from low general supply finally putting pressure on the price to increase after a while of the prices being relatively stable.

Prices are rising rapidly because the game itself is growing rapidly. Wizards just posted another quarterly 20% increase in sales which keeps rising exponentially. When they continue to post those kind of numbers, its absolutely an absurd rise in players. That means there are that many more players trying to get there hands on cards that are just 2-3 years old but are becoming hard to obtain (ie. Snaps, Lilianas, etc.). Thats why we are seeing cards like Pyromancer Ascensions rise rapidly. As soon as it shows up there are even more people than ever trying to get them which forces the demand to go up when the supply is staying pretty flat. Staples are going to continue to rise until we can start printing higher numbers of staples.
Sorry for the random question, where do you think Pyromancer Ascension and it's pyromancer ascensionFoil version will end up? Decrease rapidly or increase even more? Seems like prime reprint target.

That's a great question. I just recently picked up a playset of foil Pyromancer's Ascensions since I saw it was only at 3-4 dollars value and figured that it was a "Breakable" card. Personally I am waiting until SCG decides to put "more in stock" which will update their prices. Honestly they kind of set the secondary prices on items and I'm betting they settle at 30 dollars. I believe for the time being, barring any major showings on MTGO, that the 20-30 price range on the foil and 10-15 on the regular will be a settling point until a reprint or a huge showing again. I've been having an eternal debate on moving them personally or holding.

Anyone else have some thoughts?
I only ask because I did the same thing, got a non foil, and foil set, I let them go already based on what I saw the past few days. Most all the cards from PTBNG have decreased, don't think this one will hold either. Considering Past In Flames foil/non-foil is somewhere in the same price range (at the moment) I don't think Pyromancer can be the same price. Considering 1 is mythic and played in Legacy, and one is not. I suppose I could of got more out of them, but I don't think holding them is wise either, I let them go at 35$ for non foil (playset) and 60.00 for foil (playset). This is in no means a brag post, just giving you an idea. I just think if you put them up for SSG (even a bit lower) prices they will just sit there. Also taking into account Storm didn't T8 at PTBNG, but might at GP. So who knows.

I'm thinking the same thing with Pyromancer, I'm hoping it stays up to 9-10/each non foil but only because I got them at a low price, and still waiting for them in mail so hopefully with the few popular people playing storm will keep this up, but I'm agreeing I think its best to ship them off as no T8 and not played in legacy.
They most likely won't reprint Pyromancer Ascension in a standard set unless it's a return to Zendikar. It's a quest, it's part of a cycle (Archmage Ascension, Bloodchief Ascension, Beastmaster Ascension, Luminarch Ascension), and the cycle refers to stuff specific to Zendikar. They might reprint it in some sort of supplementary product, but those don't push prices quite as much. It isn't the sort of card you'd put on the front of a duel deck or premium deck, so speculating (especially on foils) is probably pretty safe.

Right.... my bad! Oh well, eh, don't think they will go much higher, though I could always be wrong.
I think that now is a good time to sell. The cards have risen quite a lot because of the popularity of the deck, so I could have earned from it already. I usually sell my cards around the time when a deck becomes popular, not when the cards hit their ceiling and become difficult to offload due to everyone waiting for the price to drop, worse is when the meta shifts or a reprint hits.
Phantasmal image only gets better with time really. I think it's undervalued and that at its current price it isn't worth it to sell.
Foil abrupt decay is a legacy staple as well as vintage playable. The sky is the limit on foils of it but right now is when they'll be cheapest since they're worth around $30 last I checked.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
I've been thinking about it more and I'm inclined to believe that Phantasmal Image has room to grow, but the other fish are near their ceiling. Especially Cursecatcher, he's at about $12 now, which is insane for an uncommon. The only other uncommon at a higher value was Remand, but that was a rare exception because that card sees play in several decks. Merrow Reejerey and Silvergill Adept might have a little more room to grow, but I highly doubt they will ever be worth the same as Cursecatcher.
It will tank but the more interesting news is what wasn't reprinted. With Deathrite's recent ban and plummeting I thought it might go lower after the reprint here but I see no avenue for a a reprint elsewhere now. My guess is that it is at low and will go up. Phantasmal Image, Maelstrom Pulse and Abrupt Decay also had a good chance to get reprinted here and now will creep higher for many years to come.
(... goes down parabolically for those who have not heard).
