Jeff, don't you think that by this summer, the number of people who will want to joing the tournaments for these Commander decks will far exceed the supply? I do. I think the Commander decks will be far more popular than Planechase or any of the other multi-player products WoTC has produced in the last couple years. Popularity of EDH should peak right about the time these things are released. I don't know the print run for these things, but I have a suspicion they'll be quite in demand. So, I don't know about dropping the prices. They'll certainly be stabalized at current levels, but dropping- especially a significant ammount- really depends on the print run. I'm dubious about it.
As someone who never bought any other multiplayer products, depending on the quality of the card choices i will probably take interest in the commander precons, and get each of them, just for the sake of having a sizeable pool to play EDH with. The format is already designed so you don't need the best cards to have a lot of fun with it, and seems like a good way to start since I have too much ADD when trying to come up with an EDH deck and never succeed. It's very strong. With the rising price of standard many players are converting.
This is what throws me for a loop. SCG has plenty of legacy tourneys, in which they sell a crap-ton of cards. Where are the rest of the tourneys? If legacy is growing so fast and so quick, there should be other tourneys out there besides SCG Opens right?
I play in a weekly legacy tournament. It's not sanctioned since the owner has allowed the use of proxies to help get more people to just play the format. Ever since I got on the legacy track, I almost don't even want to bother playing limited (i'm not the best limited player anyway) and as a whole I have more fun playing Legacy than say Standard or Extended. My local legacy scene has AT LEAST 20 people who play the format semi-regularly, and many more who either have an interest in eternal formats either.
So I'm looking for some help in determining trade-value on NM Wastelands. They've been fluctuating quite a bit recently and I'm having a hard time figuring out what they're worth now. At one point a few days ago, magiccardsinfo had the high/med/low all set at 69.98, then the very next day it was 0. Thoroughly confusing for me haha.
Any help in answering these questions is greatly appreciated.
1) what is the current trade-value for a NM Wasteland?
2) will they increase or decrease in value?
1. You can probably trade them for a lesser dual like Badlands, Plataue or Scrubland.
2. Yes, they will increase in value. There's already been a promo Wasteland, so it's unlikely we'll get another one. Any effect the promo would have had in its price has long since dissapated.

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.
Most of the Legacy competitive and even less competitive decks run a play set of Wasteland. This coupled with the recent rise in popularity of the format means at least a short term peak in price with some correction. I expect proices to settle around $44 on the low end (based on more played condition) and $60 on the high end (NM/M). So, $50-52 USD median prices for a decent condition, which is double where the card was at months ago. If you do not care much about condition, then you will likely pick them up right now for much less than the inflated prices you are seeing.
All this being my opinion, of course, I am relating to dealer prices not individual sellers.
Wasteland jumped quickly a few weeks ago due to StarCityGames' buylist, in which they offered $30-35 on them. Point being, the prices spiked, and now they're about 40.

I am assuming Karakas is seeing some price increases above the $50 mark due to the growing popularity of Death and Taxes. Any other thoughts why this Legends card is peaking a lot over the last few months??? And, what about the near future cost of this card?

It's somewhat of an answer to random things like Emrakul and it's fetchable by Knight of the Reliquary in Rock/Junk style decks, so many of them might run it as a one-of. It's rising along with a lot of other Legacy staples. I don't see its value going down, that's for sure. It's too bad, they're hard to come by and I still need one more for a playset
NM wastelands are actually worth about $50 now. Many have sold at $45-$50 now on ebay, and the lowest buy it now or online store price for wastelands is now $50 for NM ones. Im personally not letting mine go for anything less than $50, because, honestly, when a card is on an upswing, unless I really need money/trade for the card badly, theres no way I would take less than what the market is paying for the card at the time.

I picked up 2 (mint) copies back in January for a casual-ish D+T build. I think I paid around $28 each on eBay. Agree that the card probably won't be coming down in price, barring a reprint - supply is just too low. Playable as at least a one-of in any Legacy/EDH deck that plays white, and completely hoses randomly troublesome legends (or rescues your own). If the price hits $50+, I doubt I'll ever look to acquire more.

Well, it looks like the main online dealers are pricing Karakas at $49.99 or more; however, some are pricing for less but there is no stock as far as I can find.

If there's no stock, it usually means they just haven't updated prices. You can still get it for 35-$40 or so on Ebay, I'll probably try to do that to get my playset.
Also, keep in mind the Italian version is about $5 cheaper in general.

Right, I always just go by completed listings on eBay. Doesn't really matter to me if stores are selling it at $50 if I can still easily get it for $40.
It looks like ebay can usually compete with the online dealers whether it's for Karakas or other cards. I would only buy from a highly rated seller, however.

Interesting this topic went up since I randomly bought a playset for under $5 at a hole in the wall flea market out of state i was at today.
I'm wondering what others think about the long term value as i debate to flip them and make 50x profit on each or just hold them for another year or so since it's Legends cards we're talking and i'm in no rush to make the money. I know they're not exactly planning to go down, but i'm wondering how long I may have to hold these to expect them to reach Mana Drain...or even Moat prices?

Jitte is a GP promo. If you attended a GP in 2010, you were guaranteed a promo of Jitte just for showing up.
Sword of Fire and Ice on the other hand, is a judge promo. Huge, huge difference between the two.
did you just compare judge and gp print runs?
Jitte is also a starter rare.
I am not saying they won't eventually climb but there are quite a few out there.
