Bobs are still roughly about $30ish. Bought over the weekend from vendors for $25, ended up buying some then flipping them to the vendor across the hall for $30 though. Dealers will probably charge $40-50 for this though because they can get away with it. Any bob that has been listed on tcgplayer for $30 or $35 seems to be bought out.
The high end is just because dealers are noticing the spike and don't want to be left in the dust. Like Tarmogoyf this will be a card that will be bought in less and less but move as soon as they come as people don't want to get rid of their play sets, and demand is just there. These don't come up often for trade, so a lot of players have to buy to get their copies.
Sadly true I'm having a nightmare trading for my last one, and I think I might just have to buy it.

You should have tried to get mine when we traded.
Some people think The Abyss is poised to be a breakout card; I'm not so sure. Even if it does jump up, I think its growth is more tied to EDH than Legacy.
Anyone have ideas on when to sell Dark Confidants? I have about 5-9 trying to get rid of them. But I'm afraid they might hit $50 eventually .. I want $40 for them, but nobody wants them for $40 ATM ..
The sparkmage shrieked, calling on the rage of the storms of his youth.
To his surprise, the sky responded with a fierce energy he'd never thought to see again.

Haha, I think you grabbed enough foils to barely cover everything.
I don't think the Abyss is going to go anywhere. Creature based decks aren't as strong in Legacy as they used to be (Zoo at least has become way less prominent in my meta) and at 4 mana, it's usually not going to drop until a lot of damage has already been dealt by the aggro player. I guess you could go something like City of Traitors, double Lotus Petal, but that really, really doesn't seem worth it. Most EDH players are also ok with Magus of the Abyss, despite the fact that it's horrifically worse.
Traumerei, you can't get rid of them for $40 because nobody is actually buying them for $40. A lot of stores are buying them for $25 and trying to sell for $40-50, and not having any luck. eBay shows that they're mostly going in the $30 range still, despite what a lot of vendors are trying to do.
Yeah im with malacoda on this one too. Trying to sell them at 40 wont happen because people buying are buying at 30. Trading will be easier because players can accept retail. My cap on buying bobs is 30 shipped right now, but if trading I will trade 35 in cards because both ends will probably value at retail. Hit me up and ill take any number if you want to unload them.
Yeah it seems the price has cooled back down to $30 now. I guess a lot of people cashed out their multiples when it hit $42. I expect it to hold there for a while, probably past GenCon. We'll see what happens this fall.

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.

I never saw it consistently go above $30 per card on ebay (the only pricing metric I consider an accurate measure of a cards value). Some have ended higher, but in general, $30 was the highest consistent completed listing value that I saw on ebay.
Yeah, I really don't understand the vast disparity in their secondary market prices either.
The only thing I could think of that would objectively explain it would be relative supplies of each card. Are there a lot fewer Goyfs out there than Bobs?
Honestly, I'd be happy if either Goyf came down or Bob went up. I do have Bobs and don't have Goyfs...but plan to some day.
Bob was in Ravnica, the base set of a wildly popular 3-set block, and isn't in nearly as many decks as Tarmogoyf, a card only available in the third set of a 3-set block that, while fairly popular, probably was not as popular as Ravnica (if someone has statistics or wants to correct me on the matter, I'd be fine with being wrong here, but the drive of new duals and a generally well received Constructed and Limited response was pretty much all I remember during Rav block), and was opened far less than Bob.
While Bob is the best creature in the abstract (in Vintage, he's one of... basically himself and Goblin Welder, with some residual Tarmogoyfs?), he's nowhere near as omnipresent as Tarmogoyf in popular Constructed formats. Bob has room to grow, but has been opened far more and sees play in far fewer decks.
You have to also imagine that Tarmogoyf may also hit a similar stride in a Modern world, particularly one in which Jace bounces both with equal ease.
This is not to say neither card will succeed because of the Jace Test in Modern, but that each card will likely command high demand and are bound by the same restrictions as the other (aside from Bob taking burn spells slightly less well than Tarmogoyf).
That and Green creatures generally default to Tarmogoyf as an auto-include, while Black X may also cross-pollinate with Bitterblossom, as they both require you to pay life as a resource and generally end a game when cast and left unanswered (for you or your opponent, depending on how the cards fall, though generally in your favor).
You can read numerous articles on the mothership about how AaFo and MaRo feel Time Spiral Block and Future Sight in particular were successful and popular with deckbuilders, but very unpopular with the casual and drafting crowd. As a result, Future Sight was opened in very small qantities compared to the blocks that preceded and followed it.

The card is legit. If it's still only 10 dollars in 2 months I'll be shocked.
This is exactly what I was thinking. I keep hearing stories of how it won the game for a player or it was better than Goyf in this particular situation. I was guessing it was at least $15 right now.

What about Vendilion Clique? That card gets played in more decks now and most stores, as well as Ebay, are sold out. What will it settle at?
I think Clique is grossly undervalued and that it always has been.
It hovered at or around $3 for an inordinate amount of time, then spiked to about $7-9 over the course of the Legacy rush but following last Extended season. With the announcement of Modern, I wouldn't be surprised to see this card reach $20+, though it will probably "tier up" to $15 before it does so.
I think it's very understated how powerful Clique is. It's a Legendary creature that is played in almost every format its legal in, usually as at least a 3-of, that is not only a 3-power flier for 3, but also Thoughtseizes/hand fixes and flashes. When people talk about Bob and Goyf being the best creatures (with Stoneforge also hovering in that circle), I never hear any mention of Clique, despite how much play it gets alongside those other creatures and on its own. If I had one card to invest all of my money in for Modern or just in general, I would do it with Vendilion Clique, just not literally because I'm not into fantasy sprite orgies.

That sir is awesome! lol.
I like the huge disparities between the Tier 1 Duals and the rest of the duals. Trop/Tundra/Sea/Volcanic all go for over 70, while the rest float around 40. I also find it funny that Breeding Pool is half what a Scrubland is right now. Go go Modern.
Go fantasy sprite orgies! I think Vendilion Cliques are worth a bit more, but not comparable to Dark Confidants or Goyfs in a jace/blade legal environment, just my 2c. Also, since this posting there aren't quite as many cliques available at reasonable prices, so it might be a bit late to jump on the wagon.
P.S. If you have a trade/sales lists, please make them searchable via the [haves] tags, that way you can get hit up for cards too every time somebody mentions a good buy, this would help the rest of us search for your cards instead of flipping through lists manually. Also correct card spelling would help too (vendilion = dozen+ hits, vendillion = 2)
P.P.S. To the multiple ppl who read posts and then hit up ppl for cards, I didn't get all my cards by not reading mkt st cafe ^^ just sayin..
