Storm runs 2 volcanics at most at least any storm deck that runs LED and volcanic. You don't need more especially considering storm decks in legacy almost never run more than 2 underground sea/the marquee storm land.
I'd buy LEDs now because they haven't spiked. Not saying they'll spike soon but as long as legacy continues to grow LED will creep up in price. I remember when it was $40. Then I blink and it's $60. Blink once more and it's $80. The sky is the limit with it since it's reserved. Volcs are quite stable at the new price/I don't see them going up significantly any time soon. Volcs will always be in more demand of course but you can't substitute for LED as there are 2 versions of LED and both are never getting reprinted and WotC sure as hell isn't making a new throwback to black lotus, period.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
Are you trying to play some variation of Painter or something? It doesn't look like you're planning on playing Storm because the deck doesn't need a playset of Volcanics.
Why do you think LED will spike soon? Volcanic Island has been shooting up into the stratosphere because it is a necessary card for a good number of decks from all sorts of various deck types. Want to play Combo? Sneak Show has Volcanics, and Storm plays at least one. Want to play Aggro/Tempo? RUG plays 4 Volcanics, I'm assuming Patriot does too, UR Delver exists, and while I think my area is not the norm, I see metric tons of Grixis Delver. Want to actually play control? The Miracles deck is even playing some number of Volcanics for Red Elemental Blast and possibly Blood Moon. And this isn't even including the fringe UR decks people make. On the other hand, I can't think of one LED deck that isn't some sort of combo deck filled with the sorts of convoluted tricks you need to actually make LED into a useable card--and that's not exactly everyone's cup of tea. Unless you're saying that someone is going to buy all of the available LED online, I don't think that the demand is there to make LED's price take off. I'd get Volcanic Islands first because I think people on all areas of the Legacy spectrum want them (not to mention EDH players, etc.)
I just want some playsets to play what ever I want whenever I want, would it be now or in 10 years. Who knows what kind of decks there will be then. I'm missing these cards and I want them, regardless of their use.
That being said, the Volcanic Islands already jumped in price for all the reasons you mentioned. I don't think the price will go higher anytime soon because I think, at the moment, those without Volcanic Islands feel like they've already missing the boat and are turning to cheaper alternatives until these very alternatives jump, at their turn, in price. It's a part of the Legacy inflation as its always have been.
We can't deny the special economic cycles of Legacy, and actually it can be predicted to a certain extend. Some people explained it better than me already, it's just basic economic science. But while I understand that, I can't predict how fast and how strong will these changes hit.
And this is why I'm seeking advice. Greater mind than me just confirmed that Volcanic Islands should be stable for the next months which should give me enough time to get LEDs before the spike, and then catch up to Volcanic Islands before the next cycle. It seems to be the more plausible to me at least...
A. I think forces are possibly one of the more safe investments in magic, And i believe they certainly have room to grow, though i wouldnt trade tarms and lilianas for them, But now is a great time to get rid of the fetches most likely
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
That's irrelevant, and not how the legacy works. Meta game is largely irrelevant because all decks are powerful and good players know how play through hate and each archetype represents a small percentage of the overall meta.
On some sites $70 for the menace! I remember a few years ago when this was a $3 standard card.
I never remember this being only $3...
The lowest I recall this card ever getting was $20... :/ Realistically, I think the roof on this card is $80.. Just can't see it getting any higher than that.

On some sites $70 for the menace! I remember a few years ago when this was a $3 standard card.
It was lower in standard because it was never very good in that format since it was bad in the Faeries Mirror, as well as getting smoked by all the anti-Fae cards like Cloudthresher and Volcanic Fallout. I don't remember 3 bucks, but i remember sub 10.
This is legacy huge gainers, not what prices were in standard - stay on topic

Yeah it was between $3-5 at one point. A lot of the tribal faerie lists didn't even run the card and the only other blue deck at the time was Merfolk, I believe.
That's irrelevant, and not how the legacy works. Meta game is largely irrelevant because all decks are powerful and good players know how play through hate and each archetype represents a small percentage of the overall meta.
I'm pretty sure that Delver decks being the combo-killer is exactly how Legacy works. And what beats Delver? Miracles and Death and taxes, also two of Storm's worst matchups. When you lose to the top decks and also lose to the decks that beat the top decks, you are not in a good place.
Volcanic Island is probably the best or second-best land in Legacy. It spiked up for a reason, and likely will continue to do so. LED is basically an archetype staple, like a scarcer Knight of the Reliquary. There's a reason its been in the $80 range for years, and didn't spike with the rest of the format.
My advice is that utility and scarcity are the top factors in determining whether a card will rise, and Volc wins in both categories. I would happily make a gentleman's wager on this, that Volc will have gone up more in the next 6-12 months than LED.

Believe it or not, it was even $1 during Standard at one point briefly. Why? There was only 1 reason; Bitterblossom. There's no point in trading a card against Faeries when they could just draw the same or similar card. The body was irrelevant as Faerie token after Faerie token went into the red zone. I remember buying about 7 for $1 or close each and selling for $3, thinking I was very smart. I guess that turned out to be pretty stupid, although I did buy a play set for $36 BIN when Modern was spoiled.
Legacy - Sneak Show, BR Reanimator, Miracles, UW Stoneblade
Premodern - Trix, RecSur, Enchantress, Reanimator, Elves https://www.facebook.com/groups/PremodernUSA/ Modern - Neobrand, Hogaak Vine, Elves
Standard - Mono Red (6-2 and 5-3 in 2 McQ)
Draft - (I wish I had more time for limited...)
Commander - Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build) (dead format for me)
I didn't play when Vendilion Clique was in Standard, but it was definitely in the $7-9 for a while even after Modern rumors. It crept up to $30 during the Legacy Mental Misstep era since NO RUG and Stoneblade were two of the top decks which both ran 3-4 copies of Clique. With more time, it has continued to climb up due to decreasing supply and what I presume is also additional demand from Modern.
Last warning for everyone! This is about Legacy Huge Gainers, not Former standard pricing. - SBC
Due to real-life obligations, I am taking a long break from Magic which may include missing the local Legacy GP. Apologies for not being able to keep my threads updated.
Stoneforge Mystic is dropping on a weekly basis. The lowest NM is $19.50 now, which is what happens to cards that artificially spike and drop back down.

I wouldn't say the spike was artificial. At the time, equipping Jitte to a True-Name was the best thing you could be doing. The metagame adjusted, and that's no longer the case.

The spike wasn't artificial at all. SFM into Jitte or batterskull is sitll very relevant in Legacy. Like many spikes though, the card seems to have settled to a more reasonable price.
That's just the thing about Legacy. Something will become the new hotness and spike, then cool off once the metagame adapts to it and it stops being the new hotness in favour of yet another viable thing to do in the format.
Just because the spike was predictable and reflected the meta doesn't mean that it wasn't artificial. It's very rare that cards triple in price overnight without being artificial spikes. A few weeks ago, birthing pod had a similar spike from $8 to $20. You might say that it was completely justified with several T8 decks being pod at the time, but it was really just a single guy in Spain that bought out the hundreds of copies on the market at the time.
That being said, SFM might sustain a price of $20, but it won't see spikes any time soon due to the artificial scarcity. Most spectators will know that the time to spec was a while back, so the only people picking it up will be those that need it.
This market was pretty stagnant in May. Once Conspiracy arrives, I think we'll see some big shakeups, much like we did with Commander 2013.
The big winner that we know about is Council's Judgment. This card will give D&T the answer to TNN that it's been seeking, and may also see play in Miracles and Blade decks. SCG has Council's Judgment available for preorders at $20. This card is quite similar to Flusterstorm ($39 TCG mid, $50 SCG) in terms of print run and desirability. Even True-Name Nemesis, which had an extra print run that has not yet been exhausted, is holding firm at $25 on SCG. My price target for Council's Judgment by April 2013 is no less than $30.
I would also advise readers to put down the Dack pipe. This card is not particularly good in Legacy and Vintage-only cards that aren't on the Reserved List tend not to command $50 price tags. I'd much rather be preordering Dack's Duplicate at $5 than Fayden himself for ten times more.

Dack is a house in commander now that I think about it. But as for where he will settle price wise? Conspiracy isn't limited. See him at $10-$15.
I assume you mean 2015 Richard. In 2013 the only people who knew about the card were WotC employees. Agree with it going up quite a bit unless it gets reprinted (Will of the Council is quite the mechanic in commander and I assume the mechanic was designed with commander in mind so it wouldn't surprise me to see it reprinted in a commander precon or multiple as it is mono white/easy to put in a tricolor deck.)

Dredge is reasonably well-positioned right now, but Storm is in a pretty bad spot with RUG, BUG, and Miracles being among the top-performing decks.
