Kind of misleading isn't this, the interest in Vintage is null to none (the fractional slice of the pie when breaking down the formats is almost a needle in a hay stack).
Price's that reflect on vintage only staples really only breaks down the reserved list cards and the impact with a (that) minority share of collectors.
I was one of the largest advocates of Vintage for almost 8 years (thousands of posts, deck lists, results...all day)....sadly the few that enjoy vintage are just the few, the interest/'s you speak of....that might just be a personal feeling for "you" ect when gathering with the few...because the pie chart clearly shows the "few"...and that's about it to be frank.
And if the price of Tabernacle can blow up again with minimal to no increase in its support...then yeah you can bet Moat is going to rise probably sooner rather then later (those collectors I mentioned will make that fact happen, hog vendors like SCG will make that happen off one showing).
As for those "trades" that you "think" don't happen with regards to Power and Duals...I'm in the market and see those inquires and actions happen all the time with my clients and contacts I associate with...they do happen.
I normally respect your posts and often side with you when communicating with other members, this one is clearly not a topic of support though, I want to say this is all my opinion...but the ladder post might be actually just that to be fair.
Vintage is a wonderful format. Another factor you haven't considered is vintage masters on modo very likely raising interest in vintage in paper. And playability? I'm sure some people want to go to vintage champs but can't due to not owning a $5,000 set of P9 or however much a set of 9 costs nowadays. I right now want to own a mox jet. Not to play with mind you but just to own/pure collector value and no play value. I'm sure there are many others like me who want to own power but can't afford it or don't want to shell out. Another factor you aren't considering is what person that owns power 9 would be willing to trade it straight up for a dual land. I seriously doubt you'll find anyone willing to make that trade and if you do lucky you as that person is a moron trading one of the most iconic cards in magic as moxen will always be more iconic than dual lands.
I don't see moat going anywhere pricewise. It hasn't been played in a deck in legacy for quite some time and is overvalued if anything. It's in the same boat as candelabra of tawnos. Candelabra isn't good or that played in legacy but still commands an enormous price tag due to a few months of performance before the meta shifted and made high tide suck. There are much better cards to invest in than moat.
As for how powerful moxen are in EDH, yeah they aren't that great there. Time walk is absurd there though and probably the best piece of power in edh if it was legal. Sol ring is better than moxen in EDH with ease. Should be banned by all rights.
As for volc getting weaker in legacy in the future, it wouldn't surprise me. I was in legacy when volc was the least popular dual. Tundra or tropical island could easily surpass it in the future. But we won't know until more cards are printed that are legacy playable.
Vintage has seen a resurgence in my area. Vintage is a format elsewhere as well. Sure it will never be as popular as legacy in paper due to availability.
As for duals for power right now, sure I can see it most definitely regarding any type. But 1:1? Oh right that isn't happening with revised or unlimited duals right now unless someone is getting ripped off as no piece of power is worth less than 350 short of it being beat up or being called timetwister/the piece nobody cares about anyways except in regards to EDH. FBB's sure but it's because FBB's are black bordered/highly sought after. In the future it still won't happen. Plenty of people would jump at the opportunity to trade their ugly revised dual lands for jewelry considering how hard it is to find power in comparison to revised duals, which are readily available all over the place.
As for tabernacle? Okay so that one card commands a price tag up there with power from legacy. Tabernacle isn't close to as available as dual lands despite italian legends it is still very hard to find. And it's a case of cornering the market as well. Someone could corner the market on power pieces very easily with the number out there. Only a matter of time and history has shown that power will always appreciate in value over time. There's little interest in sanctioned vintage events but look jewelry, a. call, etc. etc. are still going up gradually over time. Why? Because people like to own power as a status symbol or to simply own it to have in their collection. Revised dual lands for pieces of power straight up is a pipedream that will not happen. End of story.

You "write" a good book bud, but you're off on too many accounts to label it concrete and worth a read on this one (there's no true resurgence on the scene in a wide open scene) that "time" you mention is coming (its happening to be very clear NOW,something you might be missing in my response).
I'll let this one rest as I can't change an opinion from a mammal that "wants" it to be, but its happening good member as I write this...and time will come back to revisit this topic soon enough.
In either case keep up the posts, I'm always reading and you do hold merit on many of them.

Duals are more volatile compared to power. I wouldn't trade dual lands for power right now, because duals are on an upswing, and frankly I can afford to lose some money if duals go down (and they aren't likely to go down). There just isn't the demand for power right now. Most power has been the same price for the last three years; Volcanic Islands have quintupled in price. Sure, half of them haven't really moved, but getting triple+ on half of my dual lands vs no gain is a no brainer.
I've sold quite a few of them over the past year but when they were cheap; I assumed it was people using her for Commander. There are so many Homelands cards, though, that I can't imagine the price sustaining at $5.00. But people have to get motivated to dig theirs out of their collections and put them on the market to bring the price back down.
Man I was one of the many that bought 4-6 boxes of that toilet paper product back in the day (Homelands), I was going for the Willow and didn't hit her until the 4th box (I know right)...but I did pull 5-9 Barron's though (but at that time you wouldn't even wipe with the Barron).
If someone is putting an impact on that card...then we're at the sadist moment/'s in speculation, I mean rock bottom, worthless moments like this truly reflect on the ones buying to make a "Penny" profit.
A guy on Facebook bought 800 of them (Autumn Willow). He actually posted a picture of the set and a few that were misprinted in the Misprints group. He's catching a lot of jokes and flack for it, of course.
So, apparently there's some drama going on with the Autumn Willows guy, anyone know the specifics? Something about him leaving negative feedback, taking a good seller off the super saver shipping program or something? Kind of, ya know, ruining it for everyone else?

After those go I would expect for reg Karakas to follow suit and eventually go to $200, it's a powerhouse card in just about any deck. It is uncommon but so is mana drain and a legends uncommon is still much rarer than a revised rare. I would pick them up at $99 while you still can; and it's true that Karakas isn't on the reserved list, but by the time a reprint came out I would say it would be around $150 and not do too much to its currently value- especially if mint.
If karakas is ever reprinted again. I seriously doubt it will ever get reprinted again short of WotC trying to support legacy (not ever happening.) Banned in commander so it isn't in a precon ever. Judge promo'ed already and I doubt it gets the vindicate treatment where it's judge foiled twice as if I had to guess vindicate is going to be unique in that regard for quite a long while. Karakas hitting mana drain prices wouldn't surprise me at all.
Autumn willow going up is just...no. Just no. I sincerely doubt the price sticks as homelands was overprinted to hell and autumn willow, while good back then, is trash today pretty much outside commander where even there she's just another voltron general that's worse than uril, the miststalker and rafiq. If people find out they can get a couple of dollars for autumn willow the market is going to become flooded with them again/it will be worthless again as it should be (this is one reserved list rare that isn't a powerhouse like 99% of the reserved list.)

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
Personally I don't see Karakas being reprinted anytime in the near future. We've already had FTV Realms and they didn't see fit to stick it in there. Can't see it in any supplemental product either. It's been on the rise in the last month or two, so I'd say that now is definitely a good time to pick up a copy. I don't see it dropping in price anytime in the near future.
Who can say with certainty about whether Volc will upset Usea in the end? I'm not of the mind that it matters as long as your margins remain tight and trim. I cashed out on duals back in the day when Tundra hit $20 and it was the first one to do it. Turbo Stasis drove the market and the demand was Tundras. Black Summer came in next and Usea caught up with it from kids splashing blue... which was made worse with FoW. Mana base has always been the msot sound investment in terms of speculation. $500 duals? Absolutely. You also have to remember that physics plays true in MTG as it does in reality and if Usea and Volc sell @ $350 each respectively then $400 is coming that much faster... followed by $500 soon afterwards. This'll trigger shockwaves into the other 8 and the day of the $200 Badlands is coming mark my words. I have 4 playsets atm of each (minus Volc and Taiga) and if asked to trade them for P9??? Well, not most Moxen or TimeTwister... at any rate. ARecall, Lotus, Sapphire .. .those aren't going anywhere in demand and their prestige is set in stone. Trading across for them is and always will be safe.
I was thinking the same on this topic. I mean how could they reprint Karakas when it has no support from the formats in which "wotc" grinds for...with the Judge foil still pretty much fresh and with 2 languages already floating around in the market...well I guess it's time karakas see's it due, under priced on this one might be an over statement taking in Legend gems (Death and Taxes isn't the only one stopping Mrs. Spaghetti and company).
As for the Willow, I don't know what I was thinking then ripping those trash packs back in the day...I might have played with that sole copy of dream waste for a few days and realized I was taken by a worthless set (screwed out of my funds for sure, they hyped that crap and I fell for it, I was only fooled once though).
Now I wonder if the person who bought all that chaff is making a wall paper project in an outhouse, ode to the Grinning Demon on that one (that one is for you Matt).

Seems like City of Traitors is up to 100 on SCG, buylist is up to 60. Real estate is getting more expensive these days... I assume it's because of imperial painter seeing some play at the invi, plus general reserved list shenanigans?

Still a fair number left on SCG for 120.
