Recently got back into mtg and found a bunch of unopened boosters from Portal Three Kingdoms (amazing what you find moving house). Bought them for $5.99(au) back in the day and it seems they're worth a bit more now. So my question is: should I dump them on ebay and or keep them and hope for a better return in a few more years?

I'd sell those, because WTOC has shown a willingness to reprint all the valuable cards in them, and those cards are only valuable because of their scarcity. Certainly sealed boosters of the set are a collector's item, and a very nice find, but there's nothing in the set that will spike, so while your packs will appreciate slowly, it's not going to make a huge difference.

TCGp lists sealed packs for $200 USD, and of course nobody actually has any at that price. SCG doesn't even list a sold-out price. eBay has English for under $200 shipped, JPN for $125 shipped. So, I'd aim around $200 USD, which is still a nice return on $6 AUD.

Thanks, I might drop a couple of ebay and see what happens. I was thinking of trying to trade for cards (old sets - beta, AN etc) but I think it's probably just selling and then making purchases later.
One listed on ebay for 6000 euro; dreaming (though a nice dream).
P3K packs are definitely worth more as sealed packs than cracked. You've got a decent chance of making money on your cracks because there's a lot of randomly expensive stuff, but WotC has been slowly reprinting everything playable in the set and they tend to drop drastically - so the only things that are still really high are things that have little practical value and are only really valuable to collectors.
The other thing to take into account is the fact that P3K boxes were relatively easy to map. Because there were only 55 rares and boxes contained 60 packs, you were pretty much guaranteed a copy of each rare in each box. So if you open packs until you got the highest-value rares, the best bet was generally to move the rest - so loose P3K packs should be treated as suspect. Of course, if you got them at or near MSRP I assume you got them from a gamestore around release and so the chances of that are lower, but it's still worth considering that it's unlikely that you'll get money in the packs.

I picked them up from a gaming shop (Games World) a while ago. There was a bunch in the display cabinet and from memory I had read somewhere that cards from Starter and Portal had just become legal so I bought all they had (and got a discount to boot). Originally my idea was to try to get the full set but ended up keeping them unopened just in case they went up in value. I got a box or two of Ice Age, Fallen and Homelands which haven't done nearly so well..

Any time.
