Bought this card (from a store) and it feels a little thick and I've never held cards from this set and don't 100% know the pattern etc used at the time.
So expert opinions? White borders don't show up in scans -res 600 DPI

Looks OK, from what I can tell. All my Starter stuff is packed away so I can't check right now, but based on the scan it looks fine. No substitute for having it in hand, though. Can you shine a light through it? Also, you bought it from a store - big store? Local store? Can they tell you when/where they bought it?
What might ease your mind is buying a handful of Starter commons from a big retailer - anyone big enough to stock random junk commons from an unpopular set. Get some other cards in your hands, and see if they feel about the same. Fake-checking via a scan is an iffy prospect at best, unless it's as silly as the UL Lotus posted a few months ago, where there were just too many red flags.
