Depending on what you are looking for, now seems like a pretty good time, since everyone is dumping their pulls online and trying to undercut each other. I ended up biting on singles a tad too early and picked up everything when the prices were still falling, so I definitely underestimated how much prices were going to drop. On one hand, I'm still happy because I picked up everything at or below prices I was willing to pay at the outset, but on the other hand, it does make me cringe a little bit to see how much lower some of the prices have fallen (e.g, Karakas). Heck, I might even pick up some extra sets of Wastelands just so I don't have to swap them between decks. Also, the fact that TCG is having a 3% kickback promotion this weekend (just after I ordered everything) doesn't make me feel great, either.
Echoing that now is a pretty good time. Things are much lower than I thought they'd be, especially if you're trying to just buy them with cash on the low end of TCGplayer. Stuff like foil Daze at $30 is NOT going to last with it being played as a 4 of in most legacy decks that want it and the limited print run, for example.
What about foil Shardless BUG stuff like Baleful Strix, Toxic Deluge, and Hymn to Tourach? My idea was that they would go down since they are pretty high right now.

I suspect still a further downswing on anything not in high demand, but as the supply isn't that deep, stores and traders will start buying the cheaper stuff up at some point. I know that I've been getting few cheap foils from MCM already. For European buyers there's still a big dip coming on most cards hovering around 30 euros, as lot of buyers want to wait until the price drops below 25 euros and the shipping gets cheaper. There are at least 12 foil rares and few foil mythics around this point. For example, I think that Chrome Mox foils will end up at 24.95 for a while, altough the art is gorgeous, so it might not quite make it. As for other foils there's still some hope, as not too many of the chepaer copies are being bought. Dack, Jace, Karakas and Crypt all went down from Saturday.
I suspect that for MCM users the bottom is still waiting, as lot of sellers update on weekdays, so further supply should be incoming yet and there's still plenty of downward movement going on. So the best period will be during the next week or gamble a bit and wait for three-four weeks to see where the bototm was/is. Propably the best strategy is something betwen these two, get what you absulutely must and cards you identify as underprized soon and wait a while on the rest.
I mainly checked the foils, as I'm tempted to get a foil set of EMA together, but know that I shouldn't...
I would wait a couple months, but no longer. My LGS got 54 boxes instead of 24, so I'm betting that many other stores got more than what was outlined in the Wizards document.
I'd guess six-eight weeks after EMN releases. Rational buyers will have moved on to the newest shiny thing. And all of the irrational buyers helping to prop up the ridiculous preorder prices will have already picked up their cards by then anyway. That basically craters demand and the prices start to come down quickly. In a lot of cases, they basically plummet.
Once the air goes out of the sails, everything drops. Patience.
I remember pretty vividly when modern masters 1 came out the singles were dirt cheap by december. It wasnt uncommon to see certain cards on sale on channelfireball for instance (that's when i got my 10$ doubling seasons). Considering it has the same print run size as MM1 i would not worry about it just yet, you probably have at least until january before cards might start climbing again. This trend occurred with mm15 as well, because i remember eyeing spellskites and it wasnt until early this year the cards have been climbing in price. Another factor that may help suppress prices is the fact that there is considerably lower demand for legacy/edh high priced staples then modern staples and i can see lots of force of wills rotting in "Standard Player A"'s binder then going towards a playset so they can compete in legacy. I can go on but from my experience august through december might be the best time to buy singles of EMA.

Eternal masters is dealing almost entirely with staples, and magic staples have been rising in price steadily/explosively for the last...decade?
Most of the chaff is not stuff you would even consider buying, but do you really expect cards that have been staples for 10+ years to suddenly drop in price with a big increase in demand and small increase in supply?
I disagree. Peak supply on the Masters Series hits far sooner than on normally printed sets. The prices that are going to be crushed are currently being crushed. The best time to look for bargains on non-mythics (which won't move much) is from now until sometime in early July. Once people stop drafting the set, the supply will dry up. You have a very limited window while people are competing to unload their picks on eBay and TCG Player to get in at the basement.

I think foils of cards that previously had no foil printing, or only a judge promo, are the safest possible buy from EMA. These kind of cards are unlikely to be reprinted in foil soon; Commander products are not foil, the next Eternal Masters (we can hope!) will probably try to avoid overlap to the extent it can, and playables from this set are not going to make it into Standard anytime soon.
I think it's very fair to expect these kind of foils from EMA -- first time in foil, Legacy/Vintage playable -- to be steady gainers from where they are while the set is being drafted. The gains will probably be slow, and the market for these kind of cards is smaller, however, so be aware that these would not be the kind of thing you can flip quickly.
Winter Orb is my pick for the foil winner of this set. Even though it's not RL, I can't see Wizards wanting to print this card in standard EVER and the hatred of it means it won't find its way into anything but special sets. We could only possibly hope to see another foil printing in EMA2, and I feel like there's too many other cards that would fill that slot that they'd rather put in. Being the only foil printing for the cmdr people to snag means I can only see one way for this thing to go in the future, barring some freak reprint. MaximumC has the right idea.

I've got two now. Winter Orb is such a polarizing card, it's like the Donald Trump of Magic. Some sick, twisted people love it and some people who just want everyone to get along and play Magic HATE it.

I'm very interested in picking up some of the first-time foils (Drake, Mother) and I think it's going to be tough to predict.
It's worth pointing out that Mom has multiple previous foil printings, including the first printing. This is the only foil option with the new art, but I'm guessing most of the DnT players pimping out their decks are going to prioritize the ULG printing.
I agree that Winter Orb is a good one. That and Gamble are the ones I'm making sure to grab. Both see play in formats where people like to pimp out decks and are probably never going to see a standard printing again (Orb more so than Gamble, but not by much).
I could see Drake coming down a little more (not by any meaningful amount, though. You can already grab them for $4 with shipping) and staying low longer, just because it's a common and the demand for them is lower.

Yeah, true. I went ahead and got a Mom on Puca anyway just to make sure I get at least one. I figure it being the Terese Nielsen art is worth something in the long run.
Thoughts on Control Magic foils? I picked some up ASAP at the $15 mark. I can't imagine we'll ever be seeing that foil again, and foiling aside it's the best art. People love Nielsen.

As if I hadn't spent enough money on this set. Now I have got to get copies of Winter Orb, Gamble, and Control Magic. I've got some explaining to do to my wife...
I have to imagine the foil Winter Orb is amazing looking.
It is, it's pretty sexy in foil. Woulda been cool if they'd made it possible to pull an alternate art foil where you could get either the new art or the old one if you opened a foil.

As one of people, I definitely want to pick one up. I'm still hoping they drop off a bit because I rarely run the card. I'm not holding out much hope for that happening, though. New Nielsen art and it's the first foil printing of the card.

Actually, it was Urza's Legacy (the hammer) that was the first set with in-pack foils, while Urza's Destiny (the vial) was the 2nd set with foils. I think Saga (the cogs) had a couple promo foils, but that was it. That said, it always seemed like the first pack-foil set foils from urza's legacy held a premium over some of the other sets printed after it. (I got back into magic with Urza's Saga/Legacy, and everything kind of snowballed from there)
That said, Goblin Welder was from Urza's Legacy, so it was one of the first foils alongside Mother of Runes among other classic cards from the last two sets in that block that were available in foil.

Two foil printings, even. The original ULG printing and an FNM promo with the same art. I mentioned that, but the conversation immediately shifted to other cards. Like Control Magic, which is a first foil printing and also has Nielsen art in this set. I'm guessing that's where the confusion came from.
