I have 10 Packs and a sealed Fat pack, Is it worth trying to sell them on now, wait til SOI, or go long term when the chance of Expeditions will drive up the prices (potentially). I am not in a rush and can wait if that is the best idea.

Thanks for the advice.
Selling loose packs is going to be dicey. Lots of people are shy about it, because of box mapping. If I were opening packs from a box and I got an expedition, I'd definitely toss the rest of the packs on eBay. If you hang onto them longer, you'll be able to find people who just want to draft, and they'll buy any loose packs available.
The allure of the fat pack is the big chunk of full-art basics. That'll be worth a nice amount in 5 years or so, if the game continues to expand. Unfortunately (we did the math a few months ago), selling the fat pack at any appreciable profit is difficult because of the shipping costs. I can buy one on eBay right now for $53 shipped, and with the cut that eBay and PayPal will take, you'll need to sell yours for $65 to realize $5 in profit (assuming that you bought it for $40 MSRP). Hold off on this one for a few years.
TLDR; if you paid anything near MSRP for these, and if you're going to sell them online where you'll need to ship them, you'll have to hold them for years in order to sell at the prices you need to charge in order to see any reasonable profit.

its great these fatpacks actually appreciate in price but in order to sell these fatpacks 3 -4 years lateR?
u actually have to find a BUYER...prices can go up to $500 for it...but if there aint a buyer...theres no point
stock market: CDs, high yields or mutual funds will assure u with some gain....if u invest it wisely...
Magic is plenty liquid for smaller amounts. If someone had $500, you'd advise them to dump that in a CD rather than buy some fat packs? You'd want that 2% return for tying up your money for 3+ years vs. a huge fatpack return because...the fatpacks might take you a couple of weeks to sell? A fatpack goes from $35 to $500 and you think that's a ***** investment because someone might not buy it right away? What if you discount to $250 and sell quickly? What's your argument then? What about the risk associated with putting your money in the stock market? Oh right, for some reason you're "assured" your gain because....because what? Oh that's right, nothings assured. Your grammar and spelling and general advice aren't very intelligent. You sound like a kid who inherited a lot of stocks and thinks that makes you a financial genius, or you overheard Dave Ramsey one afternoon and started religiously repeating his talking points. Either that or your a troll.
We get it, you don't like Magic finance, you don't like people who complain about Magic finance, but here you are, buying cards with the rest of us and checking their pricing, like the rest of us.
hmmm ... very well said....im very sorry i got "u" upset...so sorry
from WUT i know? CD's has no risk....
there are monthly CD's, annually....then 3 years.....5 years....u can pick different types of CDs lol....
To be fair, there is still risk if the institutions underlying these type of instruments go under. (Think the Savings and Loan collapse of the 80s or the bank runs in the 20s or the mortgage-backed securities in the early 2000s.) That said, you have to ask whether these events are more or less likely than a falling off in the Magic market.
time is the best indicator for these type of things!
i think magic fatpacks are good if u buy them at wholesale value...but if ur buying it for MSRP and hoping it doubles within a year? thats wishful thinking...and then even if it goes up...then u gotta find a buyer....
if ur selling it online then u gotta ship it...or pay fees online to sell it...unless someone locally buys it...
sorry for the bad grammar....incase quacker "grammar police" shows up
Box mapping isn't, but buying a box, getting lucky and opening an expedition, and then re-selling the packs will be. I know people who wont even buy packs if they see people open good things right before them out of the same box.

"It's like some kind of Voltron... made of elephants??"
Risk vs. Reward. Amount of capital invested. The current stock market has not existed in the same form for 300 years, and history is littered with terrible stocks. My original beef was his contention that "real" investments are somehow innately superior to dropping a few hundred on Magic cards. It wasn't very clear thinking.

While this is true, I get the sense that the OP already has this sealed product, and is either looking to recoup an outlay or make a profit.
sell the loose packs ASAP for a break-even.

Why do you think the stock market is automatically a better vehicle than these sealed fat packs?

300 years of historical growth over time versus 30?
