Ooh man you are putting yourself in for such a blow out when you sacrifice a land, five creatures and pay five mana just to get your flipped land bounced. I hope in earnest that card gets played against me. It will be such an easy win.

The normal strategy is to continue making dudes and playing other threats that you are forced to deal with. The Demon is a constant threat that you have to respect while dealing with the rest of the board. Its like Kiki-Pod in Modern - you almost never combo. You just force your opponent to play around it all game.
Declaration in Stone is creeping towards $8. LSV thinks it's the best constructed white card in the set.
Ulvenwald Hydra is $10 now. Someone write an article on him too? I almost picked up a few at $3, but it just seems so...meh. I guess it can do interesting things with Mirrorpool?
@Quaker: A few articles have gone up. People are reaching the conclusion that, in a format without access to Primeval Titan, a worse Primeval Titan is still a decent card.
If you don't play Standard, stay the hell off of this particular crazy train.
I haven't crunched the numbers but I would assume no still. From a very short glance through the prices the midline for all but 3 or 4 rares is below pack value (and the majority of those rares are DFCs). Furthermore, the mythic gambit seems pretty bad this time around; so many of them are so low right now, and the high ones aren't that high. I suppose you could argue that each pack having up to three chances at a rare or mythic makes this the set to open, but I believe you'll find it ends up equalizing in prices within the next few weeks. I'm not the most representative person for this, but unless you're planning on selling everything you open as soon as possible it just feels more correct to buy the singles you need, as per usual. Especially since prices seem so reasonable on almost everything.
I would wait on a few cards, like Arlinn and Avacyn as people have mentioned already but also TitI and Westvale. As DFCs, theoretically they'll just have a different frequency, and with the popularity of the game right now I assume the market will be saturated with them soon enough.

I'm mainly looking at eternal formats when I say this.
Couple of things going for it.
1. It's a unique one card engine
2. It's immune to 2 of the 3 most popular removal in legacy (bolt and decay)
3. It's dodges counters if you can cavern it in
4. It can go off at instant speed
Having a discard outlet + a dredger essentially lets you go through your entire deck at instant speed. Even if Sword is on the stack you can still flip your deck. It's not too far fetched to think it might be the center piece of a fringe deck in legacy/modern in the future. That plus edh appeal + mythic rarity = potential to go up in the future. How much? No idea, it all depends on how well a deck does with it.
Oh yeah it also beats for 6 so a 3 turn clock if it comes down to it.

Not arguing your points here, as they are all true. However, I am somewhat less optimistic it'll make waves. Simply put, outside of Miracles, most legacy decks never reach 5 mana. Dredge in particular will probably never have more than 2 or maybe 3 lands in play at any given time, and the most prevalent dredge deck is manaless. I'd imagine it has a better chance in Modern, but again 5 mana cards better end the game on their own. This has that possibility, but there isn't a viable dredge deck in Modern right now.
My guess is that it'll be a casual/EDH favorite - making the foils ridiculously expensive in 3 or 4 years.
with this said? i better keep my pre release foil then?
any thoughts with olivia?
If you're looking at the hypnotoad for the long haul, then yes I would keep the prerelease foil.
For Olivia, I really don't know. She's got a great start in the B/R vampires deck for standard. I am not sure how viable that deck is. At it's current price, if the deck takes off it'll go up. If it doesn't, it'll be $6. I don't see it as being an EDH staple and the madness deck isn't a thing in Modern. So if you plan to use for standard, I'd hold and wait for results. If you don't play standard I'd get out while the getting is good.
Tireless Tracker has spiked. Weird seeing as it is in one of the intro packs.
SCG Baltimore which was this weekend featured Bant humans of various builds in the top 64. The green versions all ran tireless tracker and the winner was a bant company deck that also played tireless tracker. This is why it spiked.
Reprints the one card that people point to when saying that art objectifies women.
Well done Wizards.
Liliana does not objectify women in any way at all. We have gotten to a point in our society that every single picture of a women must be objectifying a women in some negative way......blah blah blah.. That is not the case. (((Sarcasm)))Picture of a girl drinking a milk shake, must be sex related and putting women down, picture of girl sitting on a beach, picture of a girl driving a car, picture of a girl on the moon at a new space station.)))
You have a picture of an attractive strong power women who girls dress up as for anime conventions. What more do you want? The picture is fine, happy to see a reprint. Sick of of seeing people claim that everything in existence must be putting women down. Then all I have to do is replace the word "women" with anything else to get the same mentality; fish, cats, arabs, blacks, jews, men, environment, whites, chinese, old people, etc. It doesn't matter what word I put in. Stop sucking life out of everything man. That artwork of her is awesome. Stop putting stuff down man. Just stop. If the picture was really as negative as you claim she would totally nude, in a kitchen, making sandwiches and giving blow jobs. Her abilities would be horrible as well. +1 do nothing -2 do nothing -6 do nothing. Instead liliana of the veil is an amazing planeswalker comparable to jace, the mind sculpter with great art to appreciate.
My suggestion listen to some comedy radio for a while, pandora is free, youtube is free there is something out there for you. ***** go make fun of somebody. The whole world is so serious and campaigning for some cause, or someones rights, everything is a hate crime, racist, sexist. blah blah blah.
"O no mcdonalds must be slandering a hate crime against skinny people every time they make a big mac." hahaha jeeze You're just someone perpetuating another groups negative perspective that they've made you believe is correct. Look at the picture for a hour and tell me what's wrong with it? I don't see anything.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
So I've got some pucapoints to burn and I have my eye on several cards from SoI. Trying to figure out which would be the best to pick up.
Sorin, Grim Nemesis seems to be the Planeswalker to have from the set. Out of Arlinn, Jace, and Nahiri his price is the only one that doesn't seem to be budging, despite people crapping on him when he was spoiled for being too expensive and not doing anything when you're behind (which I disagree with). Is he seeing any significant play?
Jace, Unraveler of Secrets. Been called a bad Ob Nixilis, but Jace definitely has a track record of being a powerful and underrated Planeswalker. He's had a few incarnations that didn't pan out, but his +1 to scry and draw just seems so good. He's only $13 now. Ob's hanging around $10. Could Jace really go lower than that?
Nahiri, the Harbinger. Don't like her ultimate or the tapped restriction for her artifact exile, but a 2 mana walker that +2 to filter seems ok to me. She's $10 and slipping fast. I don't know, she just feels undervalued to me. I don't know that there's a deck that wants her right now.
Westvale Abbey. Probably my second favorite card in the set. Definitely want to build a deck with this and maybe pick up a copy or two for some EDH decks. just above $11 now, which is down almost $4 since last week. It is a dual face card so probably more being opened. Does it see Modern play yet? How long can this go? Should I pick it up now or keep waiting.
Thing in the Ice same as above really. My friend told me it's insane in Modern. Thought-Knot Seer was about the same price until the ban. Wait a bit longer or grab now?
The Gitrog Monster. Well, everyone loves the ol Gitfrog. Seems to have settled at $7-$8, price isn't budging much lately. Is it really good enough to see Standard and Modern play? Is it a good buy at $7 or just all hype?
Honestly, I feel like all cards in the set are poised to fall, save for a few select ones. Simply due to more cards being opened from packs. In my eyes, only Avacyn is gonna stick around her current price point (and maybe Sorin too). But this is just a hunch. I mean, Tireless Trackers and Traverse the Ulvenwalds might stay their price too. Tireless, because he's seeing a decent bit of standard play. And Traverse just seems like a solid card. As for the cards you mentioned:
Sorin, Grim Nemesis seems to be the Planeswalker to have from the set. I think he's seeing decent play. Not amazingly a lot, but he's seeing a fair bit of play. I would say that he's gonna stick around at $20. If anything, he might fall a little to like, $16 or something. But for the most part, I don't see him falling due to lack of play; I think he's one of the more valuable cards in the set.
I don't actually know how much play he's seeing at all. Idk, I think he's better than Jace, the Living Guildpact, but slightly worse than Jace, Memory Adept. In other words, he's..."ok." Jace, Vryn's Prodigy is probably gonna play in this guy's place. I know you can technically play both, but I doubt anyone will do it. Control shells with Thing in the Ice will still probably just run Jace, Vryn's Prodigy before they think of playing Unraveler. Unraveler of Secret's mana cost blows, and he's barely better than some of his previous iterations (Jace Beleren, Memory Adept, etc.). Get the Unraveler if you like him, but I think he'll fall a few more dollars. Probably to $10 in the short term. Really just depends on whether or not you care to save the extra few dollars.
IMO she has a lot of potential to be good, but I don't think there's a shell for her yet. Nor do I think there will be a shell (at least, not until Eldrich Moon comes out). And because of this, she might fall further. To $7 or $8. Now, apparently in Legacy she's really good. Like, 4-of good. According to some testers. The main gripe that people came across in Legacy though is that she doesn't quite have a shell properly built around her.
I haven't seen it in modern. Maybe it makes a splash. Maybe it doesn't. Annoying card, but nothing too crazy. It's not a bad card though. Probably gonna remain stable at $11 though, because of standard, and it's a cool card.
Thing in the Ice same as above really. My friend told me it's insane in Modern. Thought-Knot Seer was about the same price until the ban. Wait a bit longer or grab now?
Supposedly a really good card in modern. Haven't seen it much here yet, though most people testing the card says it's good. I'd say it's a safe card to buy/trade into. It'll probably fall a little further, due to downward pressure of more supply being opened. But a spike is always possible, if it has a big breakout tournament, which, IMO will happen sometime in the future. Then again, TitI can be like Tasigur; really really good, but still somewhat cheap.
The Gitrog Monster. Well, everyone loves the ol Gitfrog. Seems to have settled at $7-$8, price isn't budging much lately. Is it really good enough to see Standard and Modern play? Is it a good buy at $7 or just all hype?
Don't know about modern. Or Standard either. He's possibly pretty good. But he also has a lot of casual appeal and commander appeal. Idk if I'd spec on any card in SOI, but he's not a bad card to buy maybe 1-2 of's just to have. Card's really cool. I think $7-8 is a reasonable and stable price for Gitgud Monster. Always possible he falls. If he were to fall though, he wouldn't fall too far; probably to $5. IMO, his fall ratio is much lower than like, say, Olivia, Mobilized for War. She's kinda dropped a lot since her release (from $15 to $11), since she's purely based on whether or not she's gonna see play in standard. Because of this, she might spike if she makes a breakout appearance. The GitRekt Monster, on the other hand, is just a really cool card people would want to brew with in Legacy, Modern, Commander/EDH, and Standard. Who knows? He might be sleeper OP. He might just make a splash. Or he might do absolutely nothing. Thing though is, he's a fun card to play with. Really neat effects. That's why he's priced as such.
Well, these are my opinions on the cards. I may be wrong. I may be right. Take it as you will.

Appreciate the opinions! I'm not really looking to make money, these are all just cards that I want, but want to get them as cheaply as possible. I panicked and got a few Arlinn Kords right before the weekend because I was afraid she'd make a big showing at the tournament and suddenly double in price like Avacyn did. Over the course of two days I've already lost $2 each on them. I'll make Abbey, Sorin and TiTI my main goals then.
