I got the opportunity to pick up a really cheap Breeding pool, and so I'm wondering what everyon's plans are for the expeditions, if you've got any? Have you been selling them? Keeping them short term? Merdium, or Long term?
I don't plan on collecting any others ot playing with, so I'm just looking to see what the general consensus is regarding what to do of you got 'em.

If you can afford them, they are good pickups. It's a lot of money to sink into something that will sluggishly rise. Granted, it's a sure thing, but it's not a spaceship. It's sort of like a savings bond - you know that it's going to go up, but you could make a lot more playing the stock market and buying Eye of Ugin before OGW came out. Granted, you have to be more active and sell your "stocks" at the right time.
Does that analogy help?

Yeah, for sure. That makes sense, that's pretty much where I'm thinking. I usually wouldn't be buying into these I've just got the opportunity to pick one up for like half price. I'm not going to start sinking money into these as an investment, but I'm curious what people are doing that do already have them.
Thanks for the reply, and the analogy was spot on.

No problem. Half-price pickups are pretty nice.
I'm playing with a couple of mine (I have this weird format that has to use at least one card from every expansion and supplemental product), and the rest go in the "expensive foils" binder, of stuff that I'll eventually cash in for my daughter's college fund.

I am actively picking up the Shockland and Fetchland Expeditions along with Wasteland. If you can hold them long-term, they should provide a nice return. As has been mentioned, it is a lot to sink into a long-term hold.
If you don't mind answering this: what was the offer?
Well, we're up in Canada so everything's in Canadian: they wanted $85 ($62 USD) for it, and the major gaming store up here is selling them for $140 ($103). So not half price, but pretty cheap. It's the kind of offer that I'd be happy about if I wanted to purchase one, but not something I can make short term money on. I was really looking to turn it around, but the more I looked into it the more it didn't seem like that was going to be possible. And as KnickM said, that is a lot of money to have tied up in a very slow growth "investment," at least for how small my Magic budget is.

That's fair. That's probably what they're best for. I ended up find an LGS nearby that was selling a playset of Inquisition of Kozileks for $100 CAD (they're $37 a piece here), and that's a card I'll actually play. So that's where my expedition money went.

I think that's a bit less than what I paid for mine on eBay, so I'll agree that it's a quite good price. They're going for about $85 USD at the moment.
Breeding Pool is one of the prettier ones (IMO), so I definitely wanted one for that reason. I'm so shameless.
Expeditions are horrible for short-term money. You can buy one and then trade it to someone like me for a bit of a premium, but that's about it.

Yeah, that's basically the conclusion that I came too. It's a great price if I wanted one, but it's bad for trade fodder. All in all, I'm super pumped about my playset of Iok's. Thanks for your advice.

I actually traded off my wasteland expo for 2 boxes of oath & an altered consecrated sphinx netted a horizon canopy along with several other $$ cards from those boxes. So I'm not complaining at all :). I guess it really depends on if you really need them or not but wasteland has taken a huge hit since announcement in EM so it might take a while for prices to creep back up.
Personally, I'm noticing a discrepancy in terms of demand in that Shocks and Fetches are in demand but nearly everything else is less so. Actually, everything else seems to be dropping in demand. In particular the OGW lands seem much easier to acquire (outside of actual value). In terms of value, I'm surprised at how little of a premium the filter lands command.
