So, with Marvel getting banned, how low are its key cards going to go?
1. Ulamog - Sub-10 bux
Look at what happened to Emrakul when it got banned. It went from a high of 20 then crashed to 6-8 bucks and has never recovered. It's still a fine card, but once it's not in Standard play, it has virtually no demand. Without Marvel, it's hard to see Ulamog remaining a big player in Standard, either, and he's rotating not too far into the future. Craash!
2. Marvel - 2 bux
It's already available for 2.50 and it's not going anywhere too far down because it's already at the price point where casuals can pick it up for decks. I would say enablers like this are destined to grow over time, but not parasitic ones like this. I expect to see Marvel follow Digiridoo's price trajectory - it'll spike whenever they revisit Energy as a mechanic and not otherwise.

I certainly agree with your prediction on Marvel. There simply aren't enough good energy enablers to play it outside of Standard.
On Ulamog, in the short term I could see it getting to $10 with rotation eminent. However, I'm not sold on it staying there. You're talking about a casual favorite and reasonable card to cast in Tron decks. If it hits $10, I certainly wouldn't expect it to stay there for more than 6 months or so as it starts to rebound from the inevitable price drop that comes from rotating out of standard.

Concur on Marvel. I'm holding the bag on a playset, but I think that it's now strictly a casual card. Should be fun to see what can happen with it now that it's no longer a serious card.
I also concur with Ulamog. It's a savage EDH card and casual favorite. I don't see it staying below $10 for long (although I do expect it to get down there later this year).
Any thoughts on what this does to the price of the God-Pharaoh? He's not in ramp colors, and there was a lot of speculation (on my part as well) that he'd be a new toy in Marvel's arsenal. While it's certainly possible that he creates a deck with other HOD stuff, I don't think that he slots well into any extant decks. But, he's still in preorder, and planeswalker preorder prices are notoriously high to begin with.

Hard to tell right now what will happen with Bolas. He looks like the ultimate control deck finisher - similar to Cruel Ultimatum, and control has some decent tools to play with right now. There are a few good counterspells in standard right now. I think his pricing will be completely dependent on the viability of a grixis style control deck, or a 2 color control deck splashing black or red.
Also, given that we some anti counterspell cards in Amonkhet, it's reasonable to assume that Grixis control will probably get another toy or two in HOU to play with. My hope is that with Marvel being gone, we might see a good control deck appear.
Preorders for Hour of Devastation are predictably silly, but there are a few that you might not regret pre-ordering too much. So, with that, I give you:
CARDS YOU MIGHT NOT BE EMBARRASSED TO PRE-ORDER
1. Mirage Mirror - $2.00
This seems like a fine price for a good clone effect. Compare it to that good clone from Khan, whose name escapes me but as I recall experienced lots of steady growth over time. Seems like a safe buy in.
2. Bontu's Last Reckoning - $3.00
Of all the exhaust-yourself cards, this one probably is as good as it gets. That's because it removes your opponent's cards in exchange for your tempo. If you get a 3-for-1, it might not matter much that you can't fully operate next turn. Three seems fine for an OK wrath effect.
3. Ramunap Excavator - $5.00
This seems like the most eternally-playable card in the set so far. Crucible of Worlds with Legs could be very good. When we get Magus of the So-and-So, if the Magus does not cost more and if summoning sickness is not an issue, then they tend to be played at least sometimes instead of the original. (See: Magus of the moat). I like this card tons long term, and it seems trivial for it to climb over $5.00 down the road.
4. Reason // Believe - $1.50
It's not QUITE below 2 dollars yet, but it will get there and then I like it. The first mode is a fair dig spell that can get past three bad cards. But, the trick of it is that later copies play extremely well together, setting up a topdeck for the ones in your graveyard. Heck it sets itself up all by itself when you draw it late. I know we have cards like Call of the Wild that see no play, but how many of those ALSO let you stack your deck? Previously, that effect cost 7 mana for Summoning Trap or the Khan's version. Reducing that cost by 1 AND allowing you to spread it over two turns AND giving it to you on a card that is useful by itself early on is no joke. This card is going to see some casual play and could even bust into a fringe deck in Modern; it'll hold some value over time.
And, on the flip side:
CARDS YOU WILL FEEL BAD ABOUT PRE-ORDERING
5. Solemnity - $5.00
I don't think this is as good as people think it is, and hate cards that do not become format staples tend to go down in price. I don't like this preorder at all.
6. Razaketh, the Not-Grislebrand - $12.00
Card's bad yo. It can do silly things with Lingering Souls, but lots of cards can do that. It's too expensive for Standard, and by the time you hit Modern you need to make some serious excuses about why you don't play Grislebrand / Emrakul / Runescar-freaking-Demon over this guy. EDH won't let him be bulk, but he's not gonna be far off.
I feel like this is a really good time to get rid of Torrential Gearhulk. It's still priced around $20. I'm thinking about putting my set up on ebay at $15 each because I think in the near future they won't even break $10. My reasoning:
1. The deck they are played in is almost unplayable now because of Ramunap Red.
2. Ramunap Red is almost Amonkhet Block. It's going to be in Standard longer than Torrential Gearhulk, meaning that Torrential Gearhulk isn't going to get better.
2. The card isn't seeing play in formats outside of Standard.
As a followup, it looks like I only had ONE miss on this list: Reason // Believe. That card hit bulk. I love it, I'm buying at bulk, but it looks like no one else agrees with me.
Solemnity is now available for like $3.00. I think that's the right buy-in because it will have combo and hate appeal long-term. This feels like a floor to me.
Otherwise: Razaketh tanked, surprising absolutely no one; Ramunap Excavator is flirting with $4.00 but remaining pretty stable; Bontu's Last Reckoning is slipping to just below $3.00; Mirage Mirror is still floating just around $2.00.
I'd imagine it would be due to Eric Froelich's standard GW Cats list.
Because you can't buy out a common, so you might as well try to buy out the foils? Yeesh...
Also of note, that The Scarab God went insane with the release of Hostage Taker. Personally, I think that the price trend is unsustainable. Cash 'em out if you're not using them. Foils and MPS will be stickier, but I can't see even the foils maintaining their price, in the not-too-long-term. Masterpieces, as usual, are a law unto themselves (but it's worth noting that while nonfoils, pack foils, and prerelease foils all spiked, the Invocations barely moved).

I guess this is worthy news: Carnage Tyrant just pretty much doubled in price, from ~$12 to ~$24. Did it recently get the spotlight from a recent winning deck? I know it's a beast (literally) on the field, but this jump came from somewhere.
I'm reporting the price jump because the "market" price jumped, not the mtgstocks "regular" price (for those who do not know, "regular" is asking price while "market" is the sold price).
This really is the most significant jump in a couple months in standard.

I think that it's a reporting issue. There are still tons (again, literally, since this guy is a huge dino) available from TCGP at $12 a pop. Foils at $16. If this is a buyout, then it's in the early stages because there's still a lot of stock available. TCG is showing the needle moving on nonfoil copies, but the available copies don't bear it out. I'm seeing eBay completed listings in the $12 range (with a few lucky winners at $9). Lots of availability there as well.
There are two options, in my mind, to explain this trend: some of the reporting is flawed, or someone's trying to manipulate the price and doing not a great job of it. On the heels of yesterday's announcement about the new Standard Event Decks that will have at least two mythics each, I'd say that there's no worse time to be doubling down on Garbage Tyrant.

I've been watching the price of commons & uncommons in foil from Rivals of Ixalan... is this set really that great that foil commons & uncommons are +$3.00 right out of the gate? Don't get me wrong, I know this set is great, but looks like there must be some serious movement of foils. Guess a semi-tribal set has really been wanted for a while now.

If you're talking about the Vampire and Merfolk lords - absolutely. I'd probably put this in the EDH section, because of all the tribal love. A lot of the rest is just that ... the set still isn't out yet! Sales from the prerelease really mess with the data, because there are so few of them. Wait until the set has been released for a few weeks and there's actually product on the streets.

Can we expect Chandra, Torch of Defiance's price to drop (among the other good cards printed) because of the Challenger decks?
In a word, yes. Currently, Chandra+Hazoret go for more than the price of the deck, so unless these are really limited in availability, that pair will drop.

What is with the Hazoret Invocation? Went from like 40-50 to over 100.
More like $60 to $100, but yes, that smells of a buyout. Hazoret has started to show up in Modern and Legacy as well, so someone probably decided to try to bump the price. This has been happening to a lot of Inventions; it hasn't really happened with Invocations but it was really only a matter of time.
Plus, there's the joke.

This has to be the most ridiculous things to happen to the finances of standard in a very, very long time...
There has been a buy-out for Llanowar Elves for Core Set 2019... what kind of asinine point is someone trying to make about buy-outs?
Take the screenshot w/ a grain of salt... the prices will not last beyond a day or so once the dust settles and scared vendors will reintroduce the Elf to TCGPlayer.
Am I right? Is there something I am missing, like a misprint or something else banal?
Looks like it's part of the new player's Welcome Deck, so it's printing will be much less than other commons from CS2019. I really don't think this price will last long at all. It might stick around a buck, my guess.
With an FNM and a Gateway promo available I don't see the Vivien Reid deck going up in price. Just seems to be that there were few of them in stock. These are not the pimped elves you are looking for.
i kinda hope whoever did that loses their ass on it. A buyout of what has to be one of the commons with the greatest supply in the history of the game, and it's not even a unique art? not even FOIL? Makes the Seance hoarder look like the greatest financial mind in the game.
