A 40 dollar mythic rare would constitute a must have 4 of that goes in many decks.
Stats About Mythics
-Mythics are on average 40% rarer than pre-mythic rares
(old blocks about 200 rares, Mythic blocks 35+ mythics)
-They are printing more new cards a year not less
(about 665 now vs. 630 in most pre-mythic block)
-To drop the value of a rare by $1 a mythic must go up $2
-In a 3 year time span deck prices doubled. I am petitioning for the removal of mythic rarity. Sig this to join the cause.
But that will mean the FS Steamflogger Boss will awlays hold some value due to his FS frame which is very unlikely to see a reprint barring any judge or promo foils
I hate buyouts, seems so predatory towards the community.
Yes, the community lost so much because Steamflogger Boss got bought out.
Agreed. Even if contraptions and riggers become a thing, the circumstances where a 4cc lord of this caliber is playable would be exceptional. I mean, he's worse than most goblin lords at pumping small dudes, so that means you either A) need to be able to get a lot of riggers very cheaply (i.e. at a better rate than goblins) or B) assembling two contraptions instead of one is such a big game that you'll play a bolt-able 4cc dude. I just don't see it happening.

Reprints the one card that people point to when saying that art objectifies women.
Well done Wizards.
Liliana does not objectify women in any way at all. We have gotten to a point in our society that every single picture of a women must be objectifying a women in some negative way......blah blah blah.. That is not the case. (((Sarcasm)))Picture of a girl drinking a milk shake, must be sex related and putting women down, picture of girl sitting on a beach, picture of a girl driving a car, picture of a girl on the moon at a new space station.)))
You have a picture of an attractive strong power women who girls dress up as for anime conventions. What more do you want? The picture is fine, happy to see a reprint. Sick of of seeing people claim that everything in existence must be putting women down. Then all I have to do is replace the word "women" with anything else to get the same mentality; fish, cats, arabs, blacks, jews, men, environment, whites, chinese, old people, etc. It doesn't matter what word I put in. Stop sucking life out of everything man. That artwork of her is awesome. Stop putting stuff down man. Just stop. If the picture was really as negative as you claim she would totally nude, in a kitchen, making sandwiches and giving blow jobs. Her abilities would be horrible as well. +1 do nothing -2 do nothing -6 do nothing. Instead liliana of the veil is an amazing planeswalker comparable to jace, the mind sculpter with great art to appreciate.
My suggestion listen to some comedy radio for a while, pandora is free, youtube is free there is something out there for you. ***** go make fun of somebody. The whole world is so serious and campaigning for some cause, or someones rights, everything is a hate crime, racist, sexist. blah blah blah.
"O no mcdonalds must be slandering a hate crime against skinny people every time they make a big mac." hahaha jeeze You're just someone perpetuating another groups negative perspective that they've made you believe is correct. Look at the picture for a hour and tell me what's wrong with it? I don't see anything.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
I hate buyouts, seems so predatory towards the community.
Yes, the community lost so much because Steamflogger Boss got bought out.
Buyouts in general, not specifically Steamflogger. Was it necessary to spell that out?
I disagree with you. Didn't it seem extraordinarily stupid to lament about buy outs because Steamflogger got bought out?
OH hey guys, Beta Fungusaur has been bought out since 1998. That's been so detrimental to all of us. Buyouts are just another market force. If they force the price higher and they stay higher, then it was going to go there anyways, speculators or not.
This is really just hype that got out of control and amplified by the low stock of Steamfloggers. The new price will be because of the new demand and low supply, not because of the intrinsic power of the card, or the unlocked power of the card. This is player neutral - this only affects collectors, IMHO. Unless you were playing during Futuresight and have a stack of these moldering away in your closet, then this is player friendly.

Apparently it was. *Facepalm*
I doubt Steamflogger Boss will go anywhere, but still...buyouts are just dumb because it encourages baseless speculation.
Baseless speculation is dumb because it's baseless. How does it hurt the community again? It just hurts the individuals buying up steamfloggers, thinking they're going to be worth $50/ea after Kaladesh sets drop?
Unless you mean it's bad for the community because you want to protect people from themselves?

Right, but the cycling in and out of employees is kind of a game changer brought about by time.
I don't get what you're saying. Aaron Forsythe is still working at Wizards and is the current head of R&D. If he said it was a joke then it means they didn't seriously plan on fleshing out the assemble mechanic. Giving haste is just what goblin lords do so that's probably why they put that on the card.
The funniest jokes are the ones with a bit of truth in them. If they want to do something with the assemble mechanic, there's literally nothing stopping them, including previous declarations that they don't plan to make cards based off of it. And if they do, they would be well served to make Steamflogger Boss a functional card. Still, I think in such a scenario they would certainly be reprinting him.
My comment was in general, and had nothing to do with Steamfrogger (a card I never heard of before the post in this thread about it).
My point was that buyouts hurt the community because they make cards less accessible to the community as a whole. Greed drives buyouts and speculators are predatory in nature. I'm not saying they are bad people, just that their actions have a negative effect overall.
Now I don't mean the average Joe buying a few extra copies of a card to throw in his binder for a rainy day, but the people who buy hundreds and thousands of copies of a card with the intent to hoard them precisely to help drive the price up.

I'm fairly confident I will think of something to say. Active Player: 1994-1999, 2016-
I don't typically tend to ask for reader mail the way my pal Mark Rosewater does. Additionally, I don't have the reputation that he has somehow cultivated for himself as being The Guy That Creates Things, The Guy That Decides Things, and The Guy That Ruins Things all at the same time, so I don't get the volume of mail that he does. And I'm okay with that.
I've been out the loop besides watching some GPs and SCG Opens recently, but is it a Modern season of sorts? Noticed most NM original print Shocks are gone or significant jump in price on TCG. Plenty of NM reprints and LP or lower originals. Which seems weird because NM reprints of stuff like Goyfs, Cryptics and some other staples are out. Even noticed this in the common/uncommon highly used cards. Reprints kind of make sense since they normally cheaper, but some of these cards should have a decent supply.
Is this just a modern season deal? I'm slowing trying to pick off original prints for my Jund deck and wondering if I should hold off for a little bit of drop in price or bite the bullet on some cards.
Real talk though, stupidest buyout in mtg history.

I was going to say that it hurts the Pucatrade community, but it looks like people still want the card for that price. Huh.
It's the kind of card I would have bought at 50 cents happily and been upset to recieve for $4, personally.
As for being a Rigger lord, I'm sure giving Riggers haste is a big game, because it points towards Assemble being a T ability.
I remember R&D saying a long time ago that Steamflogger Boss was just a joke card, which probably means they didn't have any designs for assembling contraptions at all.
