I'm assuming you already know that, though, so here's a better explanation than the obvious. Two CMC one-sided GY hate that fits into either of two colors is a fine SB card. It looks like there was a 6th place finish UW control list at the SCG Classic in Columbus running a pair in the SB, which is really all some people need to buy every copy on the internet. I can't see it really making waves, because it's worse than Rest in Peace probably 90% of the time. The only real situation is if you're using your yard pretty extensively or the extreme fringe case of playing against a mill deck. Even if you're looking for one-sided hate, I can't see this being a better call than the various artifact options most of the time.

[Pr]Jaya | Estrid | A rotating cast of decks built out of my box.
Uhhhh, just look at prices on cards from RTR block. The shocklands are still pretty much sub $10 after tanking due to being reprinted in that block and shocklands are not bad by any means and required for modern in basically every deck because almost all the decks utilize some number. Shadowmoor, meanwhile, was a very crappy set sales wise and was prior to the zendikar boom that saw the playerbase expanding substantially. There are also no mythic rares in shadowmoor/wheel of sun and moon is that much rarer because of this whereas any normal rare post shards of alara is deflated due to mythic rarity simply existing.
Don't get the WoSaM spike considering rest in peace is a magic card and is typically just better. Someone probably thought they could make money off it so they bought it out.

Wizards is just doubling down on what they've always shown us they believe: eternal formats are not where they make their money. That's not a surprise, and it's not a bad idea for them as a business to move back to focusing on Standard.
I'm grateful they kept Modern around and as high profile for as long as they did. It was a necessary step to create the format that will, over time, gradually look more and more like and eventually replace Legacy as the go-to eternal format. After birthing Modern, I look at it's time as a Pro Tour format as being WotC nurturing and raising the format until it was able to stand on its own two feet.
Now the format is moving out of mom and dad's house. It's popular, widely-played, and is in a position to continue to sustain itself and grow in a way the Legacy is not. It sucks for now, since the Modern metagame is not similar enough to Legacy for those of us who enjoy eternal to jump ship, but just wait. Every new card that is printed makes Modern more like Legacy.
Star City Games probably won't pull its support. It was the only big Legacy supporter for awhile, and now it'll do the same thing for Modern. Because, hey, the secondary marketer's niche is formats with out of print cards.
Putting this back into the perspective of this thread: this probably won't have much of an impact on prices except to provide fewer opportunities for price spikes. If you want to see the trajectory of Modern prices from here on out, look at Legacy prices and add in a dash of reprints now and then to help with the price pressure.
I'd guess it has to do with the way TCG increases pricing. Since Planechase versions are smaller print runs a small run probably increases their price faster.

Reprints the one card that people point to when saying that art objectifies women.
Well done Wizards.
Liliana does not objectify women in any way at all. We have gotten to a point in our society that every single picture of a women must be objectifying a women in some negative way......blah blah blah.. That is not the case. (((Sarcasm)))Picture of a girl drinking a milk shake, must be sex related and putting women down, picture of girl sitting on a beach, picture of a girl driving a car, picture of a girl on the moon at a new space station.)))
You have a picture of an attractive strong power women who girls dress up as for anime conventions. What more do you want? The picture is fine, happy to see a reprint. Sick of of seeing people claim that everything in existence must be putting women down. Then all I have to do is replace the word "women" with anything else to get the same mentality; fish, cats, arabs, blacks, jews, men, environment, whites, chinese, old people, etc. It doesn't matter what word I put in. Stop sucking life out of everything man. That artwork of her is awesome. Stop putting stuff down man. Just stop. If the picture was really as negative as you claim she would totally nude, in a kitchen, making sandwiches and giving blow jobs. Her abilities would be horrible as well. +1 do nothing -2 do nothing -6 do nothing. Instead liliana of the veil is an amazing planeswalker comparable to jace, the mind sculpter with great art to appreciate.
My suggestion listen to some comedy radio for a while, pandora is free, youtube is free there is something out there for you. ***** go make fun of somebody. The whole world is so serious and campaigning for some cause, or someones rights, everything is a hate crime, racist, sexist. blah blah blah.
"O no mcdonalds must be slandering a hate crime against skinny people every time they make a big mac." hahaha jeeze You're just someone perpetuating another groups negative perspective that they've made you believe is correct. Look at the picture for a hour and tell me what's wrong with it? I don't see anything.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
Whispersilk is one of a small family of equipment pieces that make something unblockable, and since it gives it shroud as well, it's a powerful one. Sees EDH play.
Death Baron is one of the better Zombie lords and the only Skeleton Lord. Also sees EDH play.
Hyena Umbra sees play in Boggles because it pumps while protecting your Boggle from removal.
So, it's the usual story - a bunch of decent cards, someone saw a buyout opportunity, etc, etc.
Only the Planechase versions of those cards spiked. Sounds like someone is trying to take advantage of a flaw in the magiccards.info website in that it shows by default the most recent printing.
The other versions of the cards have not budged in price.

Its pretty funny that they would go for a higher price considering the planechase set symbol looks so damn ugly. The prices will correct in no time.
Furthermore, you don't even get the watermark on the Planechase version.
Always something to keep in mind. Within a few years or even a year, fake cards will be indistinguisible from real cards without watermark. I think that is unavoidable. Nothing in the evolution of fake cards suggests otherwise.
I was referring to the Ravnica guilds watermark. But yes, good fakes are getting better and more frequent.

For what it's worth, I was buying some extra sideboard cards for D&T, and ended up buying the last foil Fiend Hunter on TCGplayer. I don't REALLY think it'll go anywhere, but it might end up like foil Lone Missionary. There's just two on the 'Bay for $6 each, which is double what it was before.
What does that mean, as an arrogant outsider. Are foils of Lone Missionary valuable? A terse glance on ebay didn't bring any up so I'm assuming it's somehow very rare for no reason?
On a very separate note, what sort of future do we expect for the Dragons of Tarkir rares? Collected Company is doing very well despite being printed in a clash pack. I have a hard time imagining it stays above 20 like it is now, but as I said, I'm definitely not particularly involved in the modern scene.

Bant company is probably the most popular deck in standard. Once dragons rotates, it will crash. Remember $5 birthing pods?

Yeah, Lone missionaries are pretty rare now, and if a foil pops up its been in the $10ish range, which is pretty crazy.

I think i remember seeing it in the sideboards of zoo or burn decks, as a cheap way to get decent threats and make use of land flood.
I've got hit with a T1 Experiment One, T2 Nacatl, T3 Burning Tree, Burning Tree, Summons for x=3, kicked bushwhacker take...24? It's the real deal. That scenario only requires 6 cards on T3...Summons evolves expt 1, gives TWO attackers, which you better hope isn't followed by a bushwhacker. You can even float the mana as the lands can be tapped or untapped.
edit: sry 6 cards plus lands, but the idea is still there

The danger is that Summons incredibly all-in. Its awful in multiples and unplayable in the face of counter-magic. Unless you get to 4 lands (which is very late in an aggro deck) the creatures can be Bolted. While I don't deny it is fast and can kill people, it seems very risky. I don't expect it to maintain a high price.
