Then if Copper Tablet is winning Old School tournys....what's caused Volrath's Shapeshifter to jump so hard. The latest deck in TCG player was from 2013.
That sweet Ron Spencer art? It's a combo piece for sure, but a buyout seems irrational. It could easily appear in a commander procon and drop to a buck.
If by "easily" you mean Wizards would have to change their stance on the Reserve List and abolish it and then start putting said cards in mass produced precon decks, then yeah, I guess it could "easily" be added to a precon
This buyout has the same logic as everything else lately; it is a card that has a relatively low demand but will never be printed again so someone decided to grab all the copies.

Is it worth it to sell my copies?

I have a couple thoughts on that. First, the card has been basically bulk for years and Stronghold has a large print run compared to earlier RL sets. If you're not using them and can find someone willing to buy at a high price, go for it. They'll drop more in the short term - see Corpse Dance, which likely has a similar number of copies, substantially more demand thanks to EDH, and started at a higher price pre-buyout.
Second, it's still on the RL and unless WotC breaks that it will never be reprinted. Everything on the RL has the potential to climb long term. How long that takes for Shapeshifter (assuming no one comes up with a spicy brew or strong finish using it) is unclear. My guess would be very long term. Late RL stuff doesn't have supply issues as severe as the early stuff, it's all been around for a similar amount of time at this point, and a lot of it has been sitting at very low prices. Incremental growth is going to be slow, so you're either holding for a long time or betting that someone else is going to try a buyout.
If you could use the money, can find a buyer, and don't need the cards, now is an OK time to sell. My take is that the best window to try that is closed (and was never really open - there are only 3 completed listings on eBay for more than $6-7) and you're unlikely to get more that $4-5 in hand per copy after all of the costs associated with selling given that there are already listings in the $5-6 range. Whether that's worth the time and effort is up to you. I'd just hold onto them for now.

What's causing Copper Tablet to jump? Is it another buyout because it was never reprinted after ABU or is it being used in a deck?
4-of in Popeye Stompy.
It's not being played anywhere that I'm aware of. I'd guess that it's the same buyout trend as all the other old stuff we've seen recently. There have been a few non-reserved cards that are being picked up, apparently on age alone.
Sorry, my Seach-FU is busted or Google is throttling my usage. Where can I find the list? None of the Legacy lists show it for any version of PS I found.

... Popeye Stompy is a joke list. You're not finding it because a serious list doesn't exist, and Weebo was joking when he said that the card was in that list.

Yeah I figured it out when I found a thread elsewhere. Thanks Weebo
Interested in the opinion of the forum... is Metalworker pretty settled at where it's at, pricewise... or does it have a lot of room for growth and "spiking"? Trying to decide what to do with mine... my gut says to hold onto them as it's a strong card from the RL....

Started in Ice Age...got both old and new, from Power 9 to Present Day sets...just ask or name a card!
Metalworker is a RL card that sees a fair amount of play in legacy and EDH. It's unlikely to go down in price anytime soon. I wouldn't expect rapid growth on the card but I wouldn't be in any hurry to get rid of it, either. Hold unless you need the money for something else right now.

Concur, concur, concur! A ban could affect it, but it still won't crater the price as people will just hold until it gets unbanned again. This is a solid HOLD.

Standard Bearer? Pauper all-star priced out of the format? Went from $1 to $10 overnight for those unaware.
It feels more like a buyout. The professor did a heroics list on youtube and there was a push for pauper tournaments by the big names recently. I was one of the people who got hit by the spike since I was trying to build a pauper heroics deck when the price spike happened. There are already decks that have common cards in the 4-10 dollar range like pauper delver and the like, so it's not unheard of to have pauper decks go into the 110 dollar range. Still, these are always a pain to deal with.
A ton of staples for pauper are already over the 2 dollar mark in paper, so it's not really pauper in anything but name. Still, it's a new format.
1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Some other cards that get played in Pauper a lot are Gush, Ash Barrens, and of course Delver of Secrets. Those ones show up in the pauper list for delver. Burning Inquiry is also a staple in pauper madness, now.

So Back to Basics, despite not being on the reserved list, has not seen a reprint, and now has risen to a much higher price than before. I'm honestly kind of surprised it's dodged so many masters sets while Blood Moon gets reprinted constantly. I'd say get rid of them at the current price for sure, what do you guys think?

Blood Moon is an important Modern card, while Back to Basics is pretty much EDH-only. If B2B were in Modern, it'd probably be a different story. That said, I fully and completely agree that it's a "Move" card. I recently shifted my copies to my trade binder and suggest that you do the same.

Back to Basics has been an occasional feature in miracles lists for a while and Jim Davis' top 4 list at SCG Worcester ran a pair maindeck, so I have a little bit of a tough time calling it EDH only. I agree that it's a move if you're not using them right now, given that it's non-RL and really only sees play in a single legacy deck.

I did say "pretty much". If I thought that it was EDH-only, I'd've moved the post to the Commander thread
The fringe Legacy play plus the age of the card make a decent combination to push the price up, which may get it noticed by WOTC.

I'd agree, if anyone has copies then now is the time to sell. Blood Moon has gotten three Masters printings thus far, but only one of those was in a non-Modern set. With WotC's announcement regarding the future of Masters sets, I'd expect to see Back to Basics sooner than later; the last two Masters sets combined have contained quite a few reprints of cards with price tags that were inflated due to scarcity more so than demand. It's an inclusion that would boost the perceived EV of a box prior to release and then drop back down to a <$15 card afterwards.

While I agree in general with the statement, why would you want to sell right now? There isn't another Masters set on the horizon and you have all of 2018 and some portion of 2019 before it stands a reasonable shot at a reprint.
Is sitting on a copy (I think I have one somewhere) for a few months a worthwhile decision?

A few decks that turned up in a search isn't showing this card either.
Ahh, I misunderstood Pauper. I thought there was a dollar threshold on legal cards for the format. Forgot it was rarity.
From what I can see, Standard Bearer is a sideboard card to combat Aura heavy or Enchantress style decks.
Here's a list with two in the board.

That deck search function on MTGGoldFish never works for me. I go to the card, then select the drop down for the format then... nothing ???
