Sometimes the NM premium is higher on Arabian Knights rares. Collectibility, perhaps?
When I bought my Diamond Valley a couple years ago, NM was >$120, but played copies went for ~$80. Right now Card Kingdom is sold out of mint at $60, with a one each of VG/G for $45/$39. SCG is sold out of mint copies at $70.00, with no other prices/conditions listed.
30-35 TCG for MP is consistent with CK having G for $39. $60 for mint sold out will probably be corrected (I think CK adjusts prices only when they restock).
Chromatic Lantern seems to be creeping upwards. Last I looked it was under $5, but now I'm seeing them for $7 and all the sudden a bunch of people want them on Puca.

Probably another victim of the recent rules change. Even if it doesn't significantly impact gameplay, Lantern's stock has gone up a little because of it and it wasn't a bad card to begin with.

[Pr]Jaya | Estrid | A rotating cast of decks built out of my box.
Lantern was one of the top Commander speculation cards for a long time. Foils were availlable at 5$ and regular copies were 0.75$. The least patient speculators started selling theirs at 4$ and that supply got bought out, so the card has been following normal dmeand based growth already. The color-rule change only accelerated the demand, so what might have happened at the end of the year happened now. Theres 20$ wirtten all over the card unless it's reprinted and foils are great.
As other Commander-related news Seedborn Muse non-foils have passed 25$, which is insane. Even foils were cheaper half a year back. Joiner Adept is another gainer from the color-rule change. As added bonus I've never remember seeing tenth edition foil anywhere and don't even remember the art on the card. Ashnod's ALtar keeps going up on all versions. This is also mainly Commander and casual related growth, as lot of the copies are nearly permanently buried in old players closets, and they need more than minimum wage to dig them out from there. Woodfall Primus has finally overcome the MM1 reprint and moved to 6$, I always felt that the card was too cheap, but never bought extra copies either, as my extras are still taking binder space. MAybe I'll move them soon. Cyclonic Rift all versions hit 5$ on TCG mid, which shows strong demand. The card is still great and I have no doubt that without another reprint it will keep going up.
Also Tawnose's Coffin reminded players it's still in there. It has stayed a strong 40$, but finding really nm copies at that price is pretty hard. As with other really old cards the premium for nm is growing larger and SP copies make following the price much harder.
And last and least Urabrask, the Hidden is trying hard to pass Jin-Gitaxias for the coveted 'not the cheapest one' of the New Phyrexias Preators. This is the one card that the secret cabal of MtGfinance hidden overlords have been trying to move all these years. Don't buy them (but you can trade for them if you find any). On a more serious note all the Preators were great and even the least of them is worth some money now. Too bad that booster prices have also kept up with the card values. Otherwise it would be great set to rip open.
On foil fronts both Karametra, God of Harvests and Kruphix, god of Hoirizons have made massive gains in the last few weeks, from 10$ to 30+$. There are still Spanish copies floating at old prices on MCM, but otherwise both cards have moved much faster than I expected. There were few articles about them as good buys late last year, but I expected the supply to be stronger. Exquisite Blood foils keep also gaining steadily. This was another of the surefire speculator targets, as it attracts a large segemnt of casual players, who love to drain life.
Foil Reliquary Towers have also finally started recovering from M13 and FNM reprints. Showing again that Commander demand is a real force in making cards disappear from markets.
If anybody has theories on the non-color-rule affected card prices, I would be happy to hear them, as just now it seems that anything halfway useful is gaining and as a private seller I'm pretty rushed to keep up with the price increases. I make most (theoretical) money now by not selling any cards, just holding my cards and letting the values soar.
Wow, Foil Exquisite Blood! I picked up a few because I saw they were selling for $3 more than non-foils and I'm glad I did. Who knows if $30 will stick - I have a feeling it won't - but likely it won't sink below $15.
Exquisite Blood also got a new combo piece in Oath, don't forget: Cliffhaven Vampire. Vampire is, in my estimation, an easier way to enable the combo than either Vizkopa Guildmage or Sanguine Bond.
Probably not quite good enough to break out of EDH (Blood costs 5 and does nothing on its own) but I'm not surprised at all to see the price going up.

Don't know about that. Blood is quite good on its own. I ran it in an enchantments deck WITHOUT the combo for some time. Randomly gaining life on multiplayer while people bash each other adds up. IMO much easier to enable than bond.
edit: didn't read the full part. Likely to stay in EDH, but nonetheless EB is still quite good there on its own

I suspect the next piece to move will be Blood Artist, too.
The non-foil copy was sitting at about $2.80 when BFZ was released. It's now $4.20 and still going. Meanwhile, the foil copies are sitting barely moved at $8. Correction coming soon.
There were only a few copies out there. It's a card I bought out a few years ago to test the auto-correct at TCGPlayer and it fits all the criteria for a price explosion. In this case, whoever did it cleared out all copies on TCGplayer and over the day they've been trickling back in.
For the curious as far as I can tell these are the remaining Legends rares on the reserve list under the ten dollar mark. Obviously most aren't any good . . . but neither was Cavern of Souls, Typhoon, or Field of Dreams. This time next year a 2-3 of these, if not more, will be over 20 just due to a buyout.

It looks like someone may have bought out Peregrine Drake, there's only four Planechase and two Urza's on TCG.
I suggested the other day, but thought the better of it and deleted, Great Whale as a possible haven for folks looking to snag an 'Almost'-Palinchron and today I see the 'Interests' are way up on that card as well. Nuts.
The thing is, these guys are really very good in multiplayer, where you can use them to untap a teammate's lands too, or just form a one-turn alliance with someone.
Seems absolutely nothing is safe from speculation anymore. That said, so many of these will start cooling off again as quickly as they spiked.
MTGPrice is showing Alms Beast spiking hard (though I can't see it yet on other sites).
Another Orzhov commander spec, I guess. Combos pretty nicely with Tainted Remedy, and I should imagine would work to some extent in a Karlov / Ayli deck (as much as it's your opponent gaining the life until you throw it overboard).

I'm still seeing tons of copies in the 20 cent range, including multiples at a bunch of stores, on TCG.

That's bad data. It's $75 for NM with 1 available. Lots of MP copies are sitting in the low $30s. The premium for a NM copy isn't usually that much.

Now we have this thread about potential gainers, and we're not allowed to talk about cards that have already gained value?
C'mon now. Let's just talk about which cards are going up or likely to go up, and why. The two things are closely inter-realted, after all.
