I'd say the only way they'd command a premium is if there were more of the non-foils printed. So maybe if they are printed in a future commander set as non-foils. Otherwise they just cost what they cost.
I'm not thinking premium like it typically comes up in relation to card prices, as in additional cost over nonfoil versions, seeing as that's not a factor here. It's not really a question of market forces, it's a question of psychology. I'm guessing the answer is no, but I'm curious to see how the prices move in the months and years following the release. Seeing what happens in the event of a nonfoil printing will be interesting too, if it happens.
Looks like a buyout. Very sharp spike to double the original value over a very short time frame, no copies under $20 on TCG despite being under $10 a week ago. Someone is trying to cash in on the inevitable rush of superfriends decks following Atraxa. Doubling Season looks like another one, though it was expensive enough that it's less noticeable and there was already some organic demand leading in. Contagion Engine is much smaller, but shows the same price trend over the last day or two. None of these are entirely due to manipulation, but I would be amazed if someone wasn't trying based on the price history and timing.

He is not spiking. There are ones for $8-10 on Tcg player which i just took advantage of. Their manipulation did not work.
The price not sticking at a ridiculous inflated point doesn't mean that it wasn't market manipulation and the price coming back down doesn't mean that there wasn't a spike. The behavior you're talking about is how these spikes always work. Someone buys all of the available copies below a certain price point. Pricing software shows a sharp spike. Shortly afterwards, people start listing the copies they have at a price drastically below what the current list prices are, but generally still higher than what the original price was (in this case, you could get Teferi for around $6 a month ago. Some of the increase is actual demand thanks to Atraxa). A sharp spike followed by a quick drop and then gradual decline is exactly characteristic of market manipulation. Very few of the cards that get bought out actually stay at the inflated price, and the ones that stay anywhere close were typically being underpriced to begin with. Teferi doesn't really fit that criterion, which is why he's almost immediately fallen back closer to where he would have been without someone buying out copies.
I get tired of people calling every price increase market manipulation/a buyout, but recognizing it when it does occur helps people to not buy into a spike when the price is going to fall immediately afterwards.

Is it just me or is Atraxa, Praetors' Voice headed for another spike soon? (No, not the $1.00 oversized version. The actually-playable one.)
I see her at $15ish here. Checking TCGPlayer & Ebay, there's not that many left for sale at that price and several that are already higher.
Signs seem to be pointing toward $20-25(+) Atraxas in the future. I mean--there's proven demand out there for her. (She's the #1 most popular commander for a few weeks now...and quickly on her way to #3 most popular commander OF ALL TIME there.)

What do you think?
Eventually, barring an extra printing somewhere, definitely. It's going to be a hard-to-reprint card, too, being four colours and all. Once the C16 decks start getting scarce, the price is going to go through the roof like Kaalia's did.
For those who don't watch Commander Clash on MTG Goldfish, this week they had three strong custom-built EDH decks using CNS2 commanders (Grenzo, Selvala and Adriana) and suited them up against a virtually unaltered copy of the Atraxa deck. Atraxa won anyway, splashily.

Daaaang.
I was just about to ask about the future of Deepglow Skate, too.
Atraxa's hidden price adjuster seems to me to be that she doesn't do "budget". She helms the Superfriends deck, a deck that's pretty much defined by mythics. So there's little interest in her from the budget section of the playerbase. Which means that the people who're in the market for her are willing to just throw some cash at having her, which will start her off expensive.
As far as Kaalia goes, I'm bearish on her right now with the 2017 Commander Anthology on the horizon. She's almost guaranteed to be reprinted.

Why only release 4 out of the 5? Sure seems like they want to make sure Legacy players don't lose any money on Flusterstorm.

They are only releasing 4 out of 20. There seems to be a misunderstanding. They are releasing 1 deck from each year (2011, 2013, 2014, and 2015) not 4 of the original 5. I think Heavenly Inferno is a much better choice than Political Puppets for the deck of choice from the original decks for the sole purpose of reprinting Kaalia. Flusterstorm is not seen as much in Commander as her and the product is meant for a Commander audience.
That said... what is the point of reprinting 2014 and 2015 decks when they are pretty readily available?!
I'd reprint the original 5 if anything. <shrugs>

They're not reprinting the original 5 because that not what an Anthology is.
Neither is this. These aren't songs or literary pieces.
I know it can have looser meanings, but in those looser meanings all 5 of the originals would fit said looser meaning as it would be a collection of decks. Just like a collection of video games or comics. Not like a Twilight Zone Anthology would limit it to one episode per year.
It can be whatever... and since the 2014 and 2015 decks are pretty easy to find, it would make sense to print older decks that aren't as available.

MSRP is already $165, which seems pretty high to me in terms of buy-in. It may be worth it, in the end, but the signal is that this isn't for people to pick up, this is for people to save up for. My guess is that WOTC didn't want to push the MSRP up any higher, and decided that including Scooze and Flusterstorm, as well as reprints of the first group of wedge commanders would push the effective price up too high. Remember, they don't want people to tear these apart for the Death Star plans singles; the goal is to sell "Magic in a box", a group of decks that can be played against each other without change. It removes the whole deckbuilding aspect from the game and provides another hook to get people in. That they chose these four decks is kind of weird, but they probably decided that they wanted to push out some needed reprints (Heavenly Inferno) as another way to hook people, and since they like doing four-ofs, picking one from each year allowed a loose theme (and potentially made people interested in "what else can I buy that's like this?"). It's all about putting as many hooks as they can in the product to appeal to as many pockets as they can.
In no particular order:
1) Try to keep the price low
2) Put some desired reprints in
3) Make it playable out of the box so it doesn't threaten the sprawling addiction that's consuming most of us here on MTGS
4) Make it available so that people have a chance to buy it
If they reprinted the original five, they'd probably violate precepts one and four.
Again, all speculation, but it makes sense from a marketing perspective.

When I first heard about it I was hoping it would be something a bit more unique (even though I fully expected it to be exactly what it turned out to be). For example just the new cards from all the commander decks over all 4 years.... or maybe a set where they gave one of each card in any of the decks throughout the years (but not multiples) and a bunch of land so you could construct each of the decks... but not all of them. Kind of a big commander starter set. By eliminating duplicates it would bring the card count way down but allow them to make this a true anthology.
Either way this is a neat product/concept. Just not sure it will drive down prices too much given it's cost and selected sets. A lot of the target audience will have some of these already (so even if they want the Kaalia deck why would they buy a set with other decks they already have from recent years?) and another set of people who don't have the decks will be scared away by the price tag. I like that they are doing products like these but it made more sense with planechase since it was full of the entire earlier planechase decks.
