Any discussion of price changes in Commander is fine. Whether it is gains or losses, potential or already happened. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong.
For those who haven't seen the Shadows Over Innistrad checklist card that's been spoilt, there are no reprints listed on it. So old flip cards are probably about to spike again (and will do more so if/when those same cards are not in the small set). I'm looking at you, Huntmaster of the Fells. I can only imagine where you're going to end up if you're not reprinted...
Cyclonic Rift C14 version is more expensive than the RTR version. $6 vs $4.50 on tcgplayer. I expect some action in the near future. This card was $2 not too long ago
I had to shell out almost $6 about 2 months ago for Cyclonic.

Foil Palinchron listings are starting at $200, though I don't see any evidence of people buying at that price based on completed eBay listings. Up quite a bit from $60-70 a few weeks ago.

So is somebody(or bodies) trying to corner the market on Commander staples? I'll admit I haven't been paying super close attention to every Commander card, but I'm seeing a lot of price jumps on Commander playables lately. Seems like many cards that have had basically the same price for a long time are suddenly spiking. Even ones that were reprinted in last year's Commander precons are pretty pricey still.
Any good examples we should be aware of? I try to track this, but it gets challenging....
Well, it definitely seems like someone is trying to spike the prices on all the usual EDH pieces for a Karlov / Ayli deck. Not terribly successfully, but trying at least. Exquisite Blood was sent over the $10 mark a couple of days ago, and it looks like Crypt Ghast is today's card du jour.

Both of those look more like organic demand due to new generals in similar colors playing with similar themes. The increase didn't happen over a matter of a day, and the price hasn't immediately dropped back down. It's a steady increase happening over a gradual period. Exquisite Blood has gained less than $2 in as many months, and Crypt Ghast has gone from $1.50 to $2 in the same time frame.
Buyouts and speculative spikes happen, but not every increase in price is a conspiracy. Sometimes more people just want particular cards. Being alarmist about it doesn't make matters any better.

If I seem alarmist, I don't mean to be... I've just been watching all the pieces to this deck rise one by one over the last month, and I'm wondering how many more are to come. Lots of cool casual cards in that bunch. What's listed above is on top of Blood Artist and Alms Beast in the last handful of weeks. What's left in the list of obvious cards you'd stick in a casual Orzhov life-matters brew? Sanguine Bond? Pontiff of Blight? Kokusho? I've no idea... just throwing it out there that these rises have been happening for a while and aren't slowing down yet.
magus of the moon foils have went from 35.00 to 105.00 in the last month and i cant find any reason why. is this card going to go higher?
Depends how the metas shape up. This is most likely a Modern move, in response to the Eldrazi threat. Moon effects are really strong there. It's also a sweet looking foil, people don't want to miss out. It's an unsustainable price IMO, it'll drop at least some, especially once modern calms the hell down.
On another note, I recently shipped away my three Ghostways on Puca. I feel like the strictly-better Eerie Interlude might hurt its price a little, especially since it's in the duel deck.

Eerie Interlude targets; Ghostway does not. So while I'm certainly willing to call it an upgrade, I don't think it's strictly better.
I concur that Magus of the Moon is a Modern mover (alliteration!). Nonfoils have also been pushing up since last year - about the time that neither the Magus nor the Moon got a reprint in Modern Masters 2.

It could hurt the price, but it seems a lot like decks running Ghostway will want Eerie alongside it, not replacing it.

I don't disagree that Eerie Interlude is better, but won't ETB decks just run both? I don't see Ghostway getting hurt without a reprinting.

I've never played it or seen it played in EDH. I'm guessing that almost all of the movement on that card is from speculators, I can't imagine there is any demand for it.
Someone just bought all the Scorched Ruins. Thanks for making my Newlamog deck better, guy. I was definitely going to be unable to resist the temptation to run that and you know someone would have Strip Mine/Wasteland/Ghost Quartered me back to the stone age.
I'm assuming they were speculating on Commander, because if they thought that land could actually be relevant in Legacy (aka Wasteland: The Format), they've been smoking something.

Oh baby i just bought 5 in real life assuming someone would want them for Eldrazi nonsense! It isn't very good at all but that hasn't stopped cards from going crazy before.
One person - who is not a mod - said that in this thread. No need to get out the MTGS pitchforks that always seem to be on the ready.
