Commander AFAIK. If I were sitting on one I would be a bit worried about the BG Commander product coming up.
What clue(s) point in that direction for CoW?
I anticipate the B/G being a durdly value deck and Wizards has not been shy about printing money in commander. Nothing beyond that though.
They've never just jammed in a $45 reprint into a commander set. Wurmcoil was only half of that despite a spike, before it got reprinted. The original commander had some nice cards, but even o-stone was only like $6 at the time. I wouldn't be sweating a Crucible reprint at all.
Yes, but this card pretty desperately needs another reprint or a functionally similar card to be printed. There's no reason not to, and it showcases one of the strongest attributes of Wizards as a company, in that they listened and used the players' ideas to make an overall well-done and wholly loved card. I agree with you that I don't think it'll be in the C15 release, but it should happen soon just because there is literally no reason not to. Also, I feel like it fits in wonderfully into the Zendikar setting, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Oath.

I believe the most expensive rare-level reprints in mass produced sets to date are the original fetchlands (Khans) and Thoughtseize (Theros). While they may very well do it in a normal set, it is unlikely they'll do it in a boxed deck product, particularly one that is sold to stores as a package of 5 decks.

They've jammed a $100 reprint and a $65 reprint into Commander, so the idea that they're not willing to do a $40 one is a joke. Life from the Loam already has a couple recentish reprints, making it less viable as a product mover and search lands like Evolving Wilds and Myriad Landscape are almost always included in these decks anyway, so Crucible is a real possibility.
P3K cards are a bad example. They weren't expensive because of widespread demand. This is why the commander printings are worth 50c. Wurmcoil Engine in commander isn't a 50c card.
Yeah, exactly. They haven't printed Damnation in one of these things yet despite massive demand, so I doubt we'll see Crucible. That's not to say I wouldn't be pleased if it did happen.

Key word being "yet." The point of my post, though, was that a high price tag doesn't mean no Commander reprint. IIRC the red C14 deck's cards had a secondary market value in the $80-$100 neighborhood when it was spoiled, don't be shocked if Wizards goes big again this year.
Is there a certain deck it's being played in or just commander staple inflation?
