I recently sold 2 Savannahs, revised edition, on ebay and a guy purchasd them from me. He made payment in full and sent a message asking that the cards be shipped securely in a top loader and shipped with tracking. Sounds reasonable enough.
But then he adds that he uses a re-routing service to have the cards shipped to him in Hong Kong. Assuming as long as I send the cards to his confirmed address through paypal/ebay, I should be protected under seller protecion as long as I ship to his confirmed address, right? The address on ebay looks like this: USF KarFaiChow. In paypal it says confirmed address/eligible for sellers protection.
So not too much to worry about or are there red flags still?
Thanks!
You are covered for that, yeah. Your responsibility for the item as the seller is considered done when it gets to the international shipping center, so you'd still want to provide tracking to there as you normally would.
I worked in E-Commerce for a bit and we had customers do that all the time (usually routing through Doral, FL or somewhere in Texas). The only time it was a process was when customers claimed something we sent them was broken. That still worked in our favor though, as long as you state that they can send it back for a full refund then eBay will back you. Of course, they won't ever send the things back because there's no easy way to do that from where they are. Every single case we had opened by one of our eBay international buyers, we ended up winning because they were either lying to try to get extra money out of us with a partial refund or simply had no means to return items.
Thx Juicy J for the info. I did a quick search online and it seems safe for ebay sellers. But i just figured someone here has dealt with this before.
My listings say no refunds are accepted so lets hope that dont come back to bite me.
It should be noted that saying you don't accept refunds on your listings is a largely pointless endeavor, simply due to ebay/paypal buyer protection which allows returns for a refund for practically any issue. That said, I haven't personally had any issues with the re-routing service purchases thus far in my selling on ebay. As long as you are careful about condition and make sure the buyer knows exactly what they are getting, then you should be fine either way :).

This has always bothered me. It's a default setting on their site, but it's so meaningless as soon as they file a complaint.
