What's everyone's opinion on Goblin Guide? It was curiously omitted from MM 2015, which makes me wonder if a larger scale reprint is imminent. I'm tempted to dump them now but am unsure of their price ceiling. Thoughts?
Given that we're going back to Zendikar, this would be the best possible time to reprint him in standard. With the popularity of burn, there's no reason not to give him a reprint, and him not being in MM2 just stacks the odds even further that he'll be in the next block.
So many "should I sell this" threads. What do you expect there are people here that have inside information on when reprints are going to happen?
If you sell modern staples expect them to go up in price after you let them go, that's just how the market works because there is built up demand of people that have been waiting for the next set, then the next set and eventually they just give up and pay the market price.
If I'm not playing with cards I don't want to dump them for cash, I want to dump them for other modern/commander staples I know will retain value and also creep up in price over time if they're not reprinted.

Consider the 4 possible outcomes.
1. You keep them and no Guide reprint in the near future. Good for you.
2. You keep them and there is a Guide reprint in the near future. Not so good for you.
3. You sell them and no Guide reprint in the near future. Not so good for you.
4. You sell them and there is a Guide reprint in the near future. Good for you.
Without knowing whether Guide will be reprinted in the near future, which 2 scenarios would you rather have?
This is an interesting one to me. It's certainly true that it seemed like an obvious MM2015 candidate, and was left out. In a vacuum I'd think BFZ was a logical place for a reprint, but I'm not so sure that Wizards is going to want to create a standard format with Goblin Guide, Monastery Swiftspear, and Zurgo Bellstriker all legal at once. I could be completely wrong, but that seems like a very, very pushed format for RDW.
As a RDW player goblin guide is way too good for standard. RDW is already a good deck (won the pro tour), I don't see why Wizards would need to push it further with the best one drop for red agro in history.
Normally I'm all for selling stuff before it's likely to be reprinted, but unless you think it's gonna be in magic origins, you can at least wait til battle for zendikar spoilers start. There might be a spike until then, but the choice is all yours.
This card will be the worst rare in RTR and less remembered than skaab ruibator in three months. It struggles to be on the same power level as mass of ghouls, even in limited.
That its not simply "not good enough for competitive", or underpowered. But that this is offensively bad, the real stinker tier.
Still, my best evaluation is that its approximately on the same power level as a 4/4 for 4 vanilla beater.
Rather than make a new thread I'll just ask here: why are foil Goblin Guides so close in price to non-foils? It's only a couple of bucks it seems. Do people generally favor the GP promo?

Goblin Guide is a powerful card in s "budget" deck. People who are making Red Deck Wins or some variant are generally not attempting to foil out their deck - if they have the money for a foil, they'd rather spend it on a better sideboard option.

Good choice, only a matter of time. Better to be proactive and cash out when the getting's good.
