So Star City has the red deck and white deck at $50 I saw someone complain to Maro their LGS was planning on selling the Red for 70. Anyone else see anything ridiculous?
For me not ridiculous, but raising an eyebrow would be Face to Face Games selling the set of 5 for 180. Even star city is selling the set of 5 for 175 which is MSRP. $5 isn't much but anytime someone goes higher than star city (especially on sealed) is a bit surprising
walmart had tons and tons at msrp. they were literally spilling off of the shelves. they had at least 6 of each. i think they learned a bit from last time and anyone who would pay above msrp is a fool.
highest markups i've seen are one of the local shops here. when baneslayer was hot he was selling it for 100 other shops wanted 40, when goyfs were sitting at 75 he wanted 115 and wouldn't take 100. it sat there for 3 months despite me offering him cash 3 times. thankfully that shop has since switched to using tcgplayer to determine prices. i still only go there as a last resort though.
Generally, any place that isn't a card shop will have prices that are a minimum of 20% higher, I've found. One of the worst, though, was a game shop that had KtK boxes at $180 - when another shop ON THE SAME BLOCK had them at $130.
About 2 blocks away, there's an EB Games where I was advised to take advantage of their low, low price of $5.50 per pack. Compared to $4.25 in the cheaper game store. Also, they didn't have any KtK.

I don't think they learned anything. They are Walmart and they just throw ***** on the shelves, scan it, and restock when the computer tells them too.
Saw a mind sieze with an 80 dollar sticker price at a local lgs last commander release. You should never have pay more than msrp for these, but sadly some places just don't have that many options.

I agree. Most of the WalMarts I've been to are completely incompetent though, and usually won't have it on the shelf for 2-3 weeks after the release date.
I've got a gamestore selling it to me for $150 tax included so that's pretty good. Walmart at least in canada is a mixed bag. I was able to grab jace vs vraska at 20 before the bumped it to 25, but the fat packs sell for $50. Not sure what they are selling the C14's at haven't had a chance to go. C13 though Mind Seize and eternal bargain were sold out from the start and it just seemed to e the other three sitting there for the longest time. if i see a red or white sitting there at MSRP maybe i'll pick up a second. i don't think we have a TNN price bump though so it's probably not worth it unless some card does a surprising spike for some reason

Third party vendors stock these products not Wal-Mart. In my area they were available at four retailers (2 x Walmart, Target, and Shopko) the day before there release date for msrp ($35).

As humans, we have a tendency to cling to ideologies. Any positive set of beliefs can quickly turn malevolent once treated as ideology and not an honest intellectual or experiential pursuit of greater truth. Ideology does in entire economic systems and countries, causes religions to massacre thousands, turns human rights movements into authoritarian sects and makes fools out of humanity’s most brilliant minds. Einstein famously wasted the second half of his career trying to calculate a cosmological constant that didn’t exist because “God doesn’t play dice.”
The red deck was $55... and the others $50 at the major store in my city.
Although you can pick them up for $40 or $45 at lesser stores, I got the red one for $ 40.5 because of store discount. Yep thats the best I can hope for everything is expensive here.
Wow these are some crazy prices. I'm pretty glad me and a few friends went and just bought the set of 5 off Ebay for $140. Paying $40+ for a pre-con sounds awful.

oh i meant wotc not walmart. last time i could only find 2x of each on launch day. i bought both jeleva decks for true-name nemesis.
Since I was both concerned about availability and impatient, I obtained the red one from Wal-Mart on Thursday night (before they were supposed to be on the shelves) at $34.98. Then today, I got the white one from my LGS for $34.99 (before a discount that I usually get from them). So they're available here at retail price. The price for a set of all 5 at the LGS is $150. As for physical availability, Wal-Mart had plenty of all colors when I was there (though it was before most people would have known to look), and later tonight the LGS was out of red, white, and green but is getting a new shipment in soon.
My LGS apparently has the red deck selling for AU$55 (which is currently close to US$65).
Bear in mind that Australia has a 10% tax (which would then get you down to about US$59). From there, you can do the maths on how much more it takes to ship things to Australia and then sell it in a store that doesn't have a lot of competition...
My FLGS actually cut a deal for a set of 5 below MSRP and is selling individual decks at MSRP. We were talking about some of the decks being sold for a higher price online and he just shook his head and said, "I guess that's for people who have never heard of Wal-mart or Target."
At the same time, if demand wasn't there, stores wouldn't charge the prices that they are charging. I support my FLGS, but we have two Targets and Wal-marts in our town, plus more in surrounding cities. If he was charging more, I'd have a hard time justifying a purchase there. Luckily, that's not the case.
Tried Meijer, they had none. Jumped up to Wal-Mart, they didn't have any either. Called the LGS, $50 for the red, $45 for the others. I told him have fun sitting on product. Tried Meijer and Wal-Mart again after work, still had nothing and no-one knew anything about it. Might just buy one online.
It takes a few days for large stores to get them in sometimes. If they have 3rd party folks stock that section like walmart, they show up once a week to stock. Just got to be patient. I wouldn't spend over msrp for something that's going to be everywhere in a week.

27% markup here in the Philippines for single decks, and 14% markup if you buy all 5. Since distribution in my country's really poor (we didn't even get the buy-a-box Rattleclaw Mystic promos for Khans, which is downright criminal), we don't really have much of a choice.
Last year, you couldn't even buy single C13 decks; you could only buy a complete set of 5. Actually thinking of quitting Magic because of how expensive the CASUAL products are, and for the dropping rewards support. Wizards shipped us KOREAN hero cards for the BNG prerelease, for Christ's sake.
Since both the Red and White are selling like hotcakes,
it would be nice if the "second wave" had a SKU with two of each with a random fifth deck.
That should do a decent job of evening out demand, as the BUG decks are nowhere near as valuable/popular.

Hmm. My shop sold them all for MSRP and sold out. Online I ordered all 5 for $140 shipped I think. At my shop people wanted the green one almost as much as the R and W ones, and were generally happy to get any of them but blue.
I don't really get my shop. They tend to sell stuff like commander at MSRP, but mark up things like fat packs.
