Since this is a thread dedicated to the advantages and pitfalls of PucaTrade, I just wanted to warn everyone about a recent issue I have had in the hopes that it may help protect people in the future.
I posted several pages ago about a situation that I got into involving a really expensive card being sent to me in less than NM condition and how I attempted to first work out this situation with the sender and then I got an admin involved because they refused to work with me. The admin asked me what I would like to have happen and asked me to post all of my evidence in the case (which included high-res pictures and scans of the card to show the damage that I was claiming), the admin then didn't reply for several days and I got an email today from a different admin saying that the case was closed and that the sender had been credited with points IN FULL.
I would like to point out that I had evidence of the damage and the sender only repeatedly said, "That's not my card! That's not my card!". The only thing they could come up with was that someone that had wanted to trade for it weeks ago says it didn't look like that. Which is in no way evidence of the condition of the card. That didn't seem to matter to the PucaTrade admin team, though.
They offered no reasoning for this decision. All that was said was that they decided to resolve the case. Apparently it's acceptable to just send someone a card that's messed up and get full value for it. I'm very irate about this because I've been cheated out of a fairly significant sum of money not only by the sender of the card, but also by the admins of the site. I sent them a strongly worded email about my displeasure at their decision and I told them that I will no longer be using this service if they will allow their members to be scammed out of, again, a significant amount of money. I'm not complaining about less than 10 dollars here, I'm talking about anywhere from 50-250 dollars that they've essentially stolen from me given how the case was resolved. I am now stuck with a card that has damage to it and I've had all of my points taken away.
I've sent in the neighborhood of 500 dollars worth of cards on the site and this is how I've been repaid? For this reason, I must now warn everyone: I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU USE PUCATRADE.
Edit: I was contacted by another admin and the issue has been resolved in a way that I find satisfactory.
DrChaos, You're the second person on here who has posted an experience like that (Link). That is BS. I'd love to see someone from Pucatrade respond and explain these decisions, because it definitely undermines the credibility of a site that functions solely because people trust the system.
I resolved this case last night in favor of the sender. This was for a Tarmogoyf. In this case, the recipient was found in the wrong due to the way they were talking to the sender. There were threats made to the sender that put them in violation of Rule A1. "In all situations, please conduct yourself with compassion and empathy."
The recipient made an offer for a partial refund due to condition and the sender denied that offer, asking for the card to be returned.
The recipient has not been cheated out of $50-$250. The amount they asked for the initial refund was 4000 points which was later reduced but not accepted by the sender.
The sender was at no point rude or aggressive despite the accusations levied on them by the recipient. The recipient declined to return the card, so I completed the trade. If you would like to speak about this in further detail, please feel free to email me jared@pucatrade.com.
Man, I'm never going to get that foil Scourge of the Throne. It's been on my want list since before the hype spike and I'm even offering a bounty but I've only had one bite and I guess the guy didn't like my offer because he never replied back. It seems the hype is settling since the card has dipped about $5-$6 in value since it hit it's peak and I only have one competitor also looking for the card. I guess no one has it or everyone is just holding it in hopes that it'll go up more.
It sucks because there are a lot of other cards I need but I'm having to hold back a ton of points just in case someone decides to send me the card or wants to negotiate for it. Not having any luck sending any cards lately either..
I feel bad for your situation, and I think that's why I've been dealing with such small value cards. When sending, if I find some cards that are not NM+ I will simply throw a couple more in, along with a note that if none of them are up to snuff with the receiver, let me know and we'll work it out (if I don't PM them beforehand). So far, I haven't had any complaints. The majority of what I deal out are commons, so I'm not building up points fast, and most of my want list has been in the $0.75-3.00 range so even if a card comes in slightly under NM, I don't get too upset over it. If I was dealing with more expensive cards, I would be up at night grinding my teeth away.
I know that I always ask the other party to confirm the trade and send scans for cards over 5,000 points without exception, even if they judge the card NM - I won't necessarily feel the same about it, and it's better to work something out before it gets sent out.
I got two more Tropical Islands in the mail today. (Hooray!)

Jared,
Just want to say I very much appreciate your response and the service you provide. I've been a member of pucatrade since the early beta (member 1383) and have sent and received thousands of dollars in cards on the site. I love the service, and on the rare occasion where I need to open a case I've always been extremely happy with the result and the staff handling of it, even in the odd case where I screwed up.
Your public reply is very important though. The entire system is predicated on trust, and public responses and transparency from the staff are essential to maintaining that trust. Thanks for helping keep pucatrade awesome.

That's why I replied when I heard about the post We were able to resolve this case with DrChaos amicably. I'm here to help, as a user, I want PucaTrade to remain awesome
Drifting Skies, I am currently working towards the goal of obtaining a Mox via Puca Trade and I have a few questions, if you don't mind.
1. Did you receive a NM Mox? Or was it not NM and a sum of points was returned to the sender to accurately reflect value?
2. During the discussion was the shipping method discussed? If registered was used, was the cost borne by the sender, receiver or split between both?
3. How long did you have to wait for a Mox to be offered once you had the points available?
If you have a chance to answer that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance :).

It was for an HP Mox. Since I did not have the points for the NM version at the time, I sent the points for the card directly rather than confirm a trade and have points refunded. I have done that with some other trades as well.
The shipping method was discussed in advance. It was sent only first-class, so registered / priority was not used. Given the high price of the card, I would generally expect that the cost would just be folded into the price of the card, rather than be added on externally, but that depends on the specific traders, though.
I think it was about 4 days, and then another 4 days to get scans and agree on a price.

Is there a way to enter a card and see who wants it?
It's very inefficient to have to look at the list, but it could just be from using it on my iPad.

When you add a card to your HAVES list, if you click the "Send a card" button, it'll show you everyone who wants (and can afford) any card on your HAVES list.

Just make sure that the Auto-Matching slider is turned on, otherwise you'll receive a giant list of everyone seeking cards, rather than those people who are just wanting the cards you own. But yeah, it's pretty much that simple.
If the Auto-Match list isn't playing nicely with your iPad, you can manually input a card name via the Search function, and below the card profile data, it will list people who are seeking that card and have the points available to afford it (if there are any). It's a very slow process, but hey, hopefully one of those options works out for you and your mobile tech.
There is a wanted by table on the cards details page as well. IF this table isn't there then it means no one wants it
Not exactly. It also means that those who want the card can not afford it right now.
Would be good to see how many people can afford a certain card in the search result for that card. Now it only shows the amount of people that want it. Perhaps when the crowdfunding campaign is successful.
The crowdfunding was looking in danger for a few days, but now it is quite close. Currently it is short $1,838 of the $50,000. There are 41 hours left.
I am seriously considering throwing down for the Puca Classic sleeves ($35) if it looks like it may help.
The campaign just hit the 50k mark. Looks like some people pledged higher amounts...
Exciting news. Really looking forward to getting that awesome playmat! And being able to offload my SP/MP cards without jumping through lots of hoops.
I'm really excited about being able to easily move SP cards too. I have a lot of expensive cards like Wilt-Leaf Liege that aren't in mint condition but I'm sure people would still take them.
I just completed a deal trading my NM/NM- FBB german tropical island on pucatrade. It's very very cool that in a few months, I won't have to do things like that by posting on reddit.
I am done with the website entirely. My situation was handled in a lousy way by the admin team and if they refuse to follow the rules that THEY have put in place, then I have no faith in the system.
Good luck to anyone that needs something resolved by the admin team.
Could you share a bit more detail about your experience? What was the situation and how was it handled? Those of us who do put our trust in the site might benefit from that info.
