RE: CHris Hanrahan's Mox Emerald.... that guy deserves it. I think that every time I post a new deck list he has half of it filled before I can even double check to make sure I have the right cards.
He now is about to become the owner of the first traded Black Lotus on Pucatrade.
Oh, and who here has donated to the Indiegogo campaign? I'm seriously considering going for the "Tablet of the Guilds" perk, as I live in Berkeley now, but I am at a loss on who to bring for a guest. Any suggestions?
A lot of us here are actually in the Bay Area, haha. What's the tour really of though? A few rooms with some computers? It's mostly coding and stuff for them.
I've not been having any problems until last week; but like many of you have previously stated, one bad egg can really sour the experience...
So, I amassed hundreds of dollars in points, added a ludicrously expensive card to my wants list and wouldn't you know it, before my morning class was done it was already committed and marked as shipped. I considered that a little suspect, but figured that the guy was just marking it shipped and planned to head to the post office that day. I was patiently awaiting a message about tracking but to no avail. I had to message him twice over 5 days to try and get the tracking number but when he finally did reply, he said that he didn't get tracking because "the post office was too busy." I felt like vomiting.
Luckily it arrived safe and sound, the next day and everything seemed alright! Though when I took the card out to inspect it before marking it as completed, it had several cuts/scratches on the card face and a bunch of white gunk. They were deep enough to worry me but overall it was passable so I shot him a message saying that I would keep it but I wanted the adjusted rate because it wasn't NM. I offered to do 80% like PucaTrade says you should. I was even willing to go to 90% since I needed it and didn't really want to mess around. He messages me back basically saying that I was a liar and his card was perfect. I sent him pictures and scans and he didn't bother to reply, he just opened a case against me posting that I had falsified my claim and that the card pictured was, and I quote, "clearly not the card that [he] sent". About as clear as muddy water. I'm still waiting to have this resolved by an admin, but I'm quite unhappy. I don't feel like there can be a solution that will make me happy. If it's decided that I send the card back, it's already gone up in price so that sucks. Besides that I'm "lying" about the card anyway so he's not like to accept what he gets back anyway. He refuses to work with me at all. Ugh. I doubt the mods will do any of this magical credit everyone with points stuff.
Assuming they do require me to return the card, do you think it's unreasonable that I have the following conditions? I want him to acknowledge that the pictured card is his card (to protect myself from another case if he gets it back and doesn't like the condition). I want him to pay return postage. And I want to be off the hook if anything happens once I ship it (since he sent it PWE, I feel like I should be able to do the same).
Even though I feel confident that I will win the case, I have evidence and he does not, I still am turned off of the idea of building up my point reserves again after this is over.
That really sucks - I guess no matter where you go there are bound to be idiots.
Here is what I would recommend doing.
If you are going to post a Want for a high value card, add a notation to your name to read your profile page. On your profile page, specify that for that specific card, you require scans of the card before shipping. This should help avoid getting scammed by a sender.

Yeah, I thought about that, though I still don't know if I'm even going to bother with the service anymore once this gets worked out. It's a shame really, because it's just one bad experience.
To update a little, the person has finally started to budge on their stance and offered to give me back 1500 points if I'll just drop the case. That's barely anything, but I'm considering it just because I'm sick of this.
What are the best store-avaliable $10 cards to send?
I'm finishing playsets of some hard to get planechase/commander/duel deck arts and puca is much better at this than local game stores but my binder is empty after getting my playsets of fetchlands. So what stuff from ISD-THS do you think I'm sure to move quickly for credit?
My vote goes with abrupt decay. There's a line of people waiting to get them- personally, I would enjoy more being added to the mix of copies being sent...
422 cards with an average of $6.22. Median card price is right around $2.80, but that gets dragged up by a single $750 card, a couple of $80's and a few $50's.

Sent 719 cards, $2,466.56 = $3.43
Received 252 cards, $2,465.49 = $9.78
Like Drifting Skies, that's all over the place though. My high value sends top out in the $70 range rather than $700, but 2/3 of my points ($1600) have been spent on 25 cards with values between $20 and $160. That's mostly made up of Duals, Wasteland, FoW, Fetches (pre-reprints), Thoughtseize (pre and post reprint), JTMSs, LEDs, Sinkholes, Clique...
I guess since people are listing received as well:
Directly off the stat sheet: Received 38 cards, $906.17, average = $23.85
But that's a low figure, since that excludes a $970 card and a $125 card traded via point transfer, so it would be more accurate to say:
Received 40 cards, $2001.17, average = $50.03.
But again, that includes a Mox, multiple Dual Lands, 2 Judge Flusterstorms, and multiple copies of, Savage Knuckleblade, Rattleclaw Mystic, and assorted Modern Merfolk cards, so the average doesn't mean a whole bunch.

You have sent 180 cards with a total value of $940.54 and you have received 8 cards from other members with a total value of $53.53
So my average sent is 5.23.
My received is really not even remotely right since I've a bunch of khans fetches being mailed to me and a few shocklands to fill in until I can land a Savannah and a Scrubland. From the list of people wanting them it seems like it might be a long while. That being said, literally every other piece I was missing to build Nic Fit was picked up within a few hours and I've managed to trade random stuff in my binder into stuff that people want locally like again fetches, deathrites, slivers, thalia, and what not. I've literally moved everything of value minus an Iona, an Avacyn, and a Mox opal.
Man, I'm never going to get that foil Scourge of the Throne. It's been on my want list since before the hype spike and I'm even offering a bounty but I've only had one bite and I guess the guy didn't like my offer because he never replied back. It seems the hype is settling since the card has dipped about $5-$6 in value since it hit it's peak and I only have one competitor also looking for the card. I guess no one has it or everyone is just holding it in hopes that it'll go up more.
It sucks because there are a lot of other cards I need but I'm having to hold back a ton of points just in case someone decides to send me the card or wants to negotiate for it. Not having any luck sending any cards lately either..
I haven't had much luck either - I've only sent out a couple of cards in the last three weeks. I think that some people have recently started programming bots to automatically refresh and commit to any trade worth sending. This really sucks for the rest of us.

That could very well be the case and wouldn't surprise me. My problem is that I'm simply running out of cards worth sending. I've been funding my Magic play mostly on the back of old cards I've been gathering since I started playing in 7th ed that have risen in price over the years, but due to me building so many EDH decks and trading off so many, I just don't have much left to trade anymore.
I think everyone is splurging on Dragons of Tarkir cards right now.

While it is not hard to "bot" the refresh and alert you when a trade pops, actually auto-confirming would be very difficult. I've looked at doing it (I'm a programmer) and it seemed to not be feasible. I think there are just dry times - for example this is a great time to move DTK cards, but not so much others.
Once the first tourneys of the new format happen, people will start dropping points to get cards they want for the new decks.

So, we've never had any indication of "bots" being used on the site. The likelihood is that they would throw a certain browsing pattern on the site that would be detectible to us, but we've never seen anything that would indicate that this is the case.
What's definitely true though, is that we've had a HUGE influx of traders sign up for accounts recently. We're now almost up to 20,000 registered members, and in the current system this means that there's a greater supply of cards to be traded, but more competition for those cards as well.
The way things are set up now, things are pretty egalitarian (possibly to a fault) in that the people who check the send page most often are rewarded with the most trades. There's things about this I like--I think people who check back often should be rewarded--but I'd like to reward people in other ways as well; for an overall speed with ship times, for a low ratio of cases, for quick communication and response to PM's, etc.
The Puca of the future will probably be a hybrid of the egalitarian model and a reward-based system where a certain types of trader are rewarded with boosts that make it easier to find trades.
Something weird just happened. I refreshed the page and my point count went up by a tiny amount (like 50 points or less, not sure of the exact amount). I only have one sent card pending and it wasn't that one. I checked my receiving list and no one agreed to send me a card. I checked my trade history and it's not showing that someone sent me a card and then canceled. If they did it would show up wouldn't it? Or would it not if they canceled it immediately?
There may have been a resolved dispute, or a user who was sending a card to you got banned. Apparently, if a user gets banned, the other party gets the case resolved in the most favorable way possible, which may entail you getting points back even though you already received a card from them, if you hadn't at the moment confirmed the trade yet.
Did you check your ledger to see the reason?

Aagh, I'm so mad. I had the foil copies of the crappy cycle of uncommon dragons from DTK Belltoll Dragon, Acid-Spewer Dragon, etc. on my want list since the set was put on pucatrade. They were all 49 points each. It appears in the past couple of hours their prices suddenly exploded for whatever reason and I just lost 325 points for a foil Belltoll Dragon.
Thankfully I was able to remove the rest of them from my wants before more of my points got burned.
The price of an expensive card I was negotiating for also suddenly bumped way up to way more than I can even afford to pay. This just isn't my day..
