I've had points sitting around untouched for many months with a fairly diverse set of wants. With some positive news, I figure I will send out a package to see if that can pick me back up again at all.

Some users will use the 'Active' filter, so even if you just send off one small thing a week you'll remain on that filter.
Cryogen: the plateau is from an auction, but the rest is random sends. Had the ugin promoted to 9500 points and the bridge to 6000 for quite some time and someone bit the lure
Unfortunately, the Ugin appears to be a fake and I had to file a claim.

That sucks. I currently have an Ugin in the mail going to Stardust. He should get it soon. I should probably actually check my incoming cards for fakes. Is this something you make a habit of, or was it that obvious?
The card felt weird and is either a high quality fake or a legit card with serious quality flaws. The guys at my LGS store manager and a lvl2 judge) both says its highly probable to be a fake.
I do check most higherend stuff, especially since I saw this video from Alpha Investment.
First time I actually think I was shipped a fake.

Do you think it was intentional, or do you think the sender was also duped?
I don't think the sender did this on purpose. It is a big and renowned sender out there. I think he may have not noticed the card was suspicious. Also, the claim has been closed, the admin says its genuine. I still have my own doubts, as I had the LGS owner and a level 2 judge going over the card and they both said it looked suspicious.

That's really sad to hear. I don't play Magic much anymore so I don't really want to dump money into buying singles. But trading on this site is just as dead. I can never get junk rares, obscure foils, Planeswalkers, EDH wants or really anything I need via trading. Pucatrade was finally the answer to all of that. I was able to get cards on pucatrade that had been on my Wants list here for years.
Try cardsphere
I had the same xperience with ShadowFenril. Though all my good cards have been sent in pucatrade so there is nothing left to send on cardsphere. Sitting on 50,000 points though waiting for someone to send me something.

So 2 weeks ago I decided I wanted to get back into playing Modern, both online and in paper. Being a returning competitive EDH player and general impulse spender, I had a bunch of sweet EDH cards I wanted to convert!
I identified I wanted to keep my UW edh cards, and turn the other colors into a Modern deck, both paper and online. Remembering when I left that Pucatrade was booming and an excellent way to convert unwanted cards into wanted ones, I listed and sent a buttload of cards on there.
And then I read this thread... I've yet to have a card sent to me in either format, and reading through this, I'm scared it's not gonna happen, and I've just sunk my collection into a meaningless currency. To cap it off, the articles that they've been posting don't fill me with confidence.
Can one of you savvy chaps/chappettes provide any advice about my best course of action here?

As much as things have changed, things are starting to feel like it was in 2016. Here's the skinny w/ some advice to get cards incoming:
1) Make sure you are sending out to be on the "Active Senders" tab.
2) Learn to navigate and stay fresh on the Puca Trade Discord page/site - their you can chat it up w/ other traders and if you become a regular, others will keep you in mind w/ trading. Also, in the trade channels, there is a lot of "recip trading" (Reciprocal Trading, aka 'I scratch your back, you scratch mine') - it's a great way to have cards incoming while staying on the "Active Senders" tab. Also, keeps points consistently in your profile
3) Don't be afraid to solicit Recip Trades. Best was to do this is to go to the "Send Cards" tab and chose "Package Trades." Send out recip requests to anyone you want. Word of advice though - keep track of who you spoke w/ and stay atop of conversations. We all have busy lives & if we do not stay fresh in others' minds, we will be forgotten. Also, keep in mind that if you mention certain cards to others before another, make sure to mention in a current or future conversation, it may be sent out. I keep others in the loop if a card is sent out, as not to look like a con when another commits to you & the card you mentioned is no longer available because you shipped out a previous day.
4) Unless another requests an equal point recip, might be wise not to push for an equal. Sometimes you have less points than another, other times you will have more points in cards available. I try not to bicker about points - it's a fast way to make a recip trade not happen.
5) Be patient. Some weeks will feel like famine, while others like a feast. Don't be discouraged.
6) When recip trading, there are certain rules all of us going by, such as not recip trading Promoted Trades, or no bounties are to be collected. Whatever it is, as long as it is reasonable, go w/ it. By being argumentative, you might discourage a recip trade.
7) You can find value to trade in the most unusual spots: try looking through your basic lands from Mirage - yup, some are a dollar or more. I personally will trade off an basic land that is 40 points or more. Look through "package trades" for those w/ a lot of Promoted Trades for commons/uncommons that you have. It might just be a play set of 40 cent cards, but to another, they might be Promoting the cards from 40 points to 75 points... that's a 300 point package, not too shabby.
8) It's easy to run out of fuel to trade. Try Craigslist, sweetmeats/flea markets, apps like OfferUp and LetGo to find others selling bulk commons & uncommons for a fraction of their cost. And remember, it's OK to haggle, even if the price is already good. Many commons & uncommons that are viewed as bulk, will not only pay for the lot, but also can be highly sought after on Pt (& might even be Promoted). Sometimes buying blindly (making an offer w/o knowing or seeing all of the cards being offered) in Apps like OfferUp can yield hidden treasures that will surprise you & have you thinking "Did they even know card "X" was in this lot?" - but that makes it a gamble. If you want to try for estate slaes, go for it, but there are rarely Magic to be found at them... BUT, from what have heard from others, when there are Magic cards, it's usually classic high value since those cards came from collectors who had the money to buy the great cards when the game was still young.
9) Lastly, there's an "Allies" option in which those you have traded with are placed in an "allies" tab. This makes it easier to find those whom you befriend or trade a lot with. I have a couple real time friends among mine, and also those whom I have had more than 1 recip trade with. I find myself going back to those whom I've recipped with on many occasions. When I've been low on points, I freely send out (w/o requesting a recip trade) to those that are Allies. And you will see the same happen to you- random send out from those you have recipped/sent out to in the past.
With Puca Trade, I must have built around 45 decks in the past 3 years & at least 15 Commander decks.
This now about networking as well as creating new friendships, even if they are solely through Puca Trade. Things may never be the same before the site update of 2017, but in you learn to adapt, there will be many new decks in your future costing a fraction of what they would be from TCGPlayer or your LCG.
Wow, thanks, that's a super in depth response- think this will be valuable for others too.
My situation however is that I've already liquidated all the cards I'm interested in sending and now have a fairly large point balance on my account- prior to your comment i was worried that I would be unable to turn these points into real cards I actually want.
I'm not interested in turning into a poweruser and building millions of decks, my ideal scenario is that I'll get both the online and paper versions of the deck and return to a zero balance- is this realistic? Or should I treat my point balance as a sunk cost and look to try and trade around for staples and look for opportunities to build a collection as a more viable strategy.
How important are promoted trades when asking for high value cards? If I'm after a set if Goryo's Vengeance for example, do i need to resign myself to waiting for ages unless I agree to massively overpay?
Promoted trades are pretty important for higher demand cards. Stooge offered some good advice on getting the most bang for your buck. Would you mind dropping your link so I can check out your want list?
To be frank - once you're done liquidating your points, I'd get out of Pucatrade entirely and get into Cardsphere. I shut down my Puca account entirely when they started the common dues (after having been inactive for a year plus). I dipped my toes in the water on Cardsphere a couple months ago, and I'm glad I did. The economy is in a much much better place there and doesn't require near the hoops to jump through that Puca does. Not to knock the advice here, but when you need a 10 point guide on how to get cards on Pucatrade when it used to be just as simple as "send cards, get cards", something's broke beyond repair.

It has been announce that "Common Dues" are a thing of the past. Sorry, but Card Sphere is to online trading what Lyft is to ride-sharing, in the shadow of the giant (I'm comparing Puca Trade to Uber... sorta of a McDonald's to Burger King comparison).
I'm aware of the elimination of Common Dues, but the damage has been done the user base. As someone who's now used both extensively, Cardsphere requires a fraction of the effort that Pucatrade now does, and it isn't hemorrhaging staff and making drastic budget cuts. Nothing Jon Medina has said in his latest updates inspires confidence in the users that have left. Cardsphere on the other hand actually does an excellent job of listening to their user base. I can see I won't convince the Pucatrade dinosaurs, but for new users, there's fresh competition out there that's miles better. Don't dismiss it so flippantly.
I'm a pucatrade dinosaur (user #27616) and it feels like puca is in a death spiral right now. I've also been a cardsphere member since it was in its beta testing.
Cardsphere has its own problem of not having enough members, so it can be difficult finding packages that are worthwhile to send. Fortunately, that problem is getting better since members are joining fairly quickly right now.
I may go back to puca at some time if it fixes it's problems, but it's not looking promising at this point. Sorry you got in at the wrong time.

True - definitely "survival of the clickiest" like the early days of Puca. But spot on on your second point as well though. Future looks a whole lot brighter on Cardsphere, IMHO. It seems to me that a lot of folks hanging on to Puca are hanging on not because they necessarily want to, but because of the sunk-cost fallacy - you've invested so much early on that you're now hesitant to quit in a desperate gambit to recover some value, even when all other economic indicators tell you to jump ship. Personally, it was rough tearing off the band-aid to quit Puca entirely (cut out at about 4000 points left), but it feels really good to start fresh now.
After a few years of inactivity @ PucaTrade, I logged back in and realized I had a little over 30K in Puca Play money.
Can someone give me the best way to dump all of them? >_>
I have an extensive wants list, but no bites.
Go big on promotions. If you promote high enough (usually around 280%) Peter Twieg will send you just about anything if he has it in stock. He also has an inventory list on his discord channel so you can see if he has it in stock.

I just decided to try out Card Sphere. Spent the last 2 hours manually inputting my trade binder of dollar or more cards (in Card Sphere, of course, many of them were below a dollar since they use a different algorithm than Puca Trade) and adding most of the cards I from from Puca Trade. My back was hurting from leaning over and I have a small headache now.
I thought I was going to have another outlet for snail-mail trading...
... then I pushed the "send: button... and guess what I saw... ONLY 7 PACKAGES!!! 7 PACKAGES!!!
And each of those packages was for only 1 or 2 cards... how can anyone even remotely compare Card Sphere to Puca Trade? Even w/ all of the troubles, blunders, mistakes, reciprocal trades, and issues it has had these past 2 years, Card Sphere cannot hold a candle to Puca Trade.

I had the same problem as you when I checked it out initially. Threw in a Sacred Foundry, thinking "people will be all over this".... not a single match. Not one.
I'm sure it's working for some, but it just doesn't have the userbase yet to be anywhere near Puca's level.
And Puca is slowly climbing back out of its doldrums, too. Promotions are working, and I'm seeing new users on the Discord chat almost daily.
