Yeah I just today picked up a couple of random trades just for points and no reciprocals. Also, the promoted trades are working for me. The dark ages of puca may be ending.
I am curious, in general how much of a percentage bonus are people finding that they have to put in when it comes to promoted trades in order to get bites from people sending to them? is it around a 50% bonus or is it higher?
I've been seeing on average upwards of 25%, with a couple of 50 and 100% promotes. Once all the cards are available and the system has been out a while we'll have a better picture of averages.
A lot of points are being pulled out of the economy which is good for raising point value, but also because it forces sending more now in order to retain those points. For instance, I have a mana crypt promoted and now I need to seed a lot more than I usually would so I can keep a high enough balance in case someone wants to send one.
I've had a few random trades committed to send me over the last few days (none were promoted although i offer a bounty).
bloodghast, some pauper cards, collective brutality, etc...
Has anyone had a similar experience in random trades?

Does anyone else have an issue when someone puts down that they need more than 8 copies of a card & go into the territory of ridiculous by wanting more than 20 copies? I am not going to name the individual, but I will share a screenshot of his/her wants.
When someone tries to hoard copies of a card, it detracts from others getting their 1 - 4 copies they want. An extreme example wold be if there is a food shortage and you walk into a super market wanting 100 cans of soup, 25 loaves of bread, 300 bottles of purified water. For this example, it's 1 thing to pick up enough food for a family to survive, but when one starts hoarding & others do not get to partake, it's a bit selfish.
If anyone agrees with me, is there anything that can be done to curb these over-ambitious traders so they have a max of 16 (I think 3 play sets is fair as a high end amount)?

Dude. WTF. People can trade for whatever they want.
Maybe this is a store's account. Maybe people from their playgroup pool their cards/wantlist into one Puca account. Maybe they're doing an art project. Maybe they really like potassium carbon iodine. Maybe it doesn't matter at all. The Puca team is not the invisible hand of the market, nor are they the Hoarder Gestapo. It's definitely not their place to decide whether someone wants something or not.

Honestly just because someone wants that many of a card doesn't mean they are going to be sent those cards. Its up to each individual person to decide to send to those who are requesting such a large amount of individual cards versus sending to those that are simply looking for a playset or less. Either way though I honestly don't see the big deal. It helps towards the liquidity flow of points for cards either way. And yeah, as mentioned with those quantities it likely is a store that is trying to keep themselves stocked up on some more popular cards they may quickly sell through and just happening to be using the pucatrade system as a way to help keep those cards coming in for their customers.
I don't think puca or anyone else really needs to reign in such quantity requests as far as that goes. Though I can certainly understand the frustration of some who may be wanting some of those cards but don't have them sent to them perhaps because of such a mass quantity buyer. But I imagine as well that bounties and the like go along with that too to help put others above the standard wants list amounts from something like a store like that. Anyhow, I'm no puca expert but I don't really see the overall concern with it. The people that have an issue with it simply should avoid sending those cards to those seeking a mass quantity and send instead to those looking for a smaller amount and let everyone else do as they want :).

Holy shnikees Batman!!! That's wild... I am now curious to what decks those are. I have only found 2 decks to put them in - a Simic mutant graft/evolve, and maybe (maybe) a spike deck or a green/white phantom shadow deck. OK, well, looks like ideas are coming out of the woodwork, lol.

I empathize with your friend. I personally collect Atog. I have about a thousand, and if I used Puca then I'm sure I'd put a hundred on my want list too.

Yeah, Stooge. I'd say collectors and speculators. The specific trader whose profile you linked seems to be betting on a few cards that are known to be in-demand, but which haven't seen their largest price jump yet. KCI is talked about in a lot of magic finance content at the moment...but I think the ship sailed on it a week ago or so.
If you look at my profile, I will take all From Beyonds you have, for instance!
I just used the Discord and PucaTrade to pick up some alters I am excited. While the artist asked for a bit of a premium, it's always easy to send enough to get the points!
I have found the Discord to be a huge impetus for trades. That said, one feature I was displeased with is the Send Cards list recently. I still dislike that it defaults to "New Traders" it had been a month or so since I used it and I was so confused for a moment...my haves list was loaded but only two cards came up. Sheesh!
There was a guy pre-Future Site who had 50 Force of Wills in his want list, and not enough points for a single copy. We laughed.
On the old site, this sort of behaviour would have got you well noticed on the card's individual page (and if you'd waited long enough, would have pushed everyone else off the first page of wanters). Now, thanks to package trades, that can't happen, and it's just showing up as obnoxious speculation if it's a high-demand card (which I'm fine with... I just ignore those folks and go for a random dude instead).
I hear all of you & all of you make valid points (when not being accusational, lol). This trader had over 300,000 puca points... so as NOFX once put it, whatever DiDi wants, she's gonna get it...
Had a conversation on discord today which led me to ask a Postal clerk for clarification. It turns out that the $0.70 stamps do not do anything to ensure an envelope will not go through the sorting machine. The $0.21 surcharge is simply because an envelope weighs over one ounce and that's it. Further, even writing "nonmachinable" on the envelope won't guarantee that a letter won't go through a sorting machine at some point. So if you've been using those stamps as extra insurance for more expensive cards, you've been wasting your money (like me).

Oh, and PucaTrade is still alive.
This isn't entirely true. I mean, it is definitely still likely that "non-machinable" envelopes are being sent through the machine, that much I certainly believe, but the surcharges aren't just for an extra ounce.
There are two .21 charges, which is why it's confusing. It costs 21 cents for a 2 ounce (over 1 ounce) envelope and it also costs 21 cents for non-machinable. If you're sending a 1 ounce or under non-machinable envelope, it should cost 70 cents. If you're sending a 2 ounce machinable envelope, it should also cost 70 cents. If you're sending a 2 ounce non-machinable envelope, it would cost 91 cents. If the postal employee is telling you that the surcharge is ONLY for being over an ounce, they are both incorrect and being nice by not charging you the non-machinable surcharge. If you don't believe any of this, just go to usps.com and play around with the price calculator for envelopes of different weights and rigidity.
Now admittedly, I usually just throw my smaller (quantity wise) trades in an envelope with a 49 cent stamp and call it a day and they never come back to me anyway. I'm merely commenting on how it's all supposed to work.

Any Puca trades you can send me would be greatly appreciated! Big want list and lots of points available.
Just as a reminder to everyone, the packaging for Modern Masters 2017 was just released today and the previews I believe start next week, so be careful with your trading in the meantime, and with your general pucatrade want lists just in case the cards you are after get reprinted and the price suddenly drops on them (with people sending out before the price drop effects their values on pucatrade). Nothing new really, but just more of a heads up to remember to keep an eye out on those things.
It's a chat server. See the link at the end Of each article on the nexus.

Been contemplating jumping back in but the silence here has me nervous. What is discord?
Yes, it's a chat server where users can discuss trading, articles, give site feedback, talk various formats etc. It's good for talking with other people and trying to set up trades. Before you get back into PucaTrade, you should know that there is some varying levels of recip mentality, and that some people want to treat the site like a typical trading site. So if you decide to become active and send all your cards out you may have some level of disappointment. Speaking from my own experiences, I am quite active in Discord and I mostly don't do reciprocal trading. I also have almost 30k inbound cards, most of that without giving first promising a reciprocal trade (I do always try to return the favor). Promoted trades and Pucashield are slowly lowering through points inflation, and as more people cash out with promoted trades, the less demand there will be for cards.
