I had a pretty poor experience with the Discord community, but I'd call my situation unique.
Apparently, I had been the beneficiary of a bug for a very long time. Someone asked why I was getting out, and I said I play casually, my playgroup only trades with itself, and I was just wanting to foil cards - but that was taken away for common members recently. Or so I thought. Turns out that was never a feature for common members and it must have continued for my account after I cancelled my silver subscription. Everyone dogpiled on me claiming that I had been scamming the system. I might have been able to shrug that off, but then the Pucatrade employee who moderates that channel sent me a very derisive message about how I was stealing from the company that he works for and that I shouldn't be bragging about that (I wasn't). I sent him one message to try and set the record straight, but he didn't reply. At that point, I figured my presence would never be welcome there, so I deleted the app and went to Facebook to sell my points.
I thought they had banned the sale of points on pucatrade and that was what caused so many issues with the value of pucapoints and their liquidity (among other things)?
As far as I can tell, that ban was put in place to stop the creation of businesses built around the sale of Pucapoints. The FB group is gated but accepts anyone. Technically speaking, they could monitor that for infractions. But what will they do? Ban someone with hundreds of dollars of PPs in their account?
On paper they did (hinted at legal reasons), they're still turning a blind eye to the practice because they know that it was what kept the site running during the golden age.
That being said, just the fact that they announced that p2p point sales were banned struck fear in many power traders and stores that used pucatrade as an avenue of selling cards. Some quit and cashed out immediately knowing it wasn't sustainable which snowballed onto others quitting because everyone didn't want to be the ones holding the baggage when the dust settles. I think before FS happened, the price of PP to the dollar was .6. Then FS and that whole mess comes along and sent the rest of the userbase in a full blown scare and depression, now price of pp is .5 to the dollar if not lower.

If there intent is to strictly enforce the rule of not selling puca points, then I would suspect that could be a likely outcome, I wonder if anything like that has happened to anyone yet. If there intent is instead to simply nudge people away from the selling of puca points, then yeah, the odds of anything like that happening seem rather minimal.
One thing I was curious about though, is how the value of pucapoints compares to, say, ebay sold listings or the like to compare and contrast the ratio between their cash value, and the potential cash out value of the cards themselves. IE: a 1000 point card on puca trade vs. what could actually be gotten out of the card if sold on ebay/tcgplayer. To more accurately determine what the difference in value between those buying points is vs. the actual "cash" value of those cards vs their points value.
Also what sorts of bonuses to people tend to have to offer a lot of the time to be able to see more in the way of real and consistent cards being sent there way (without using discord)? Such information would be good to see the true state of the pucatrade economy as far as what the traders are considering worth it in regards to sending or buying points as far as that goes.

I'm no lawyer, so I wonder how legal it is to confiscate a money surrogate like Pucapoints, in general.
And then you factor in how the change to the ToS was made: without any notification or opt-out period.
I'm honestly looking to cash out for the time being. I really hope the site can recover, but right now I feel uncomfortable with the idea of continuing to stockpile points.

Looking at the guys on Discord, it actually seems to be working, believe it or not. I saw one guy in there today saying that he was targeting the promoted trades so that they worked, and had hit up six in one day. Another guy picked up a card he'd been waiting seven months for, and got it within an hour of promoting it.
Does that mean it's going to work as a long-term solution? Who knows!
But it certainly seems that promoted trades + Discord is a great way to shed your points productively.

I don't know what about Discord isn't working for me. Maybe it's that I'm not chatty. I'm not interested in haggling trades or farting around with reciprocal nonsense; I want to use Pucatrade in the way it was designed and intended. I've gabbed a bit in the chat here and there, but so far as getting cards, I've gotten basically chaff or $2-$3 cards.
I think it's a shame really. Hovering over your link, it appears I've been using the site nearly as long as you have. I've done a ton of trades, I've picked up all kinds of goodies, but now it just seems totally barren. I remember one day, I added an absolute pile of U/G Threshold/Madness stuff, and got all of it within a days time. Now I'm checking the mic and seeing if this thing is on, and I had to go to Discord to get a set of Gilt-Leaf Ambush.
Someone randomly commited to send me a 2400 package yesterday. (None were promoted trades)

Let me see what I can do. I assume you're the same username on Puca? I can see a Firevine on there.
Yep! My icon is Howard the Duck just for confirmation. Thanks for taking a look!
I really, really hope that the site can recover. I was as good as an evangelist for it for a long time. Donated more than I could afford at the time to the IndieGogo campaign because I believed in it. I've got piles of cards people want (Surpsringly, since I don't really buy product anymore) and I'd love to send them out.
Also, the interface on Deckbox is derpy, and I'd really rather refrain from dealing with negotiating trades.
So..... wtf. I'm not overly upset about the promoted trades thing, I really hope it helps get rid of a huge number of points. I still think Puca needs to bottom out before it can really start recover and millions of points need to leave the system before that can happen.
But there seems to be a big issue right now. When I search for a card, say Polluted Delta for example, it's now ONLY showing me promoted trades. There's now only a list of 13 people who are wanting and promoting the card and I can't see ANYONE else. Toggling the filter between promoted trades and not promoted trades does nothing. If this is the case, as someone who doesn't plan on promoting a trade, I'm literally never going to receive any of those cards. Not even showing up on the list of people available to send to is total BS.

Any Puca trades you can send me would be greatly appreciated! Big want list and lots of points available.

I have the same problem. I'm going to report it to the admins.

Still though.... my faith in Puca is already relatively low. I hate to be negative Nancy here and there's nothing I'd like more than to see Puca return to its former glory, but do they not test stuff before they implement it? This seems like a pretty huge issue to just have slip through the cracks, especially when everyone is already down on Puca in general.

Had nearly 54k worth of card shipped to me since the beginning of 2017. I'm a little active on discord, but most of them were random senders biting on my wants.

I cranked up a promoted trade for an Arid Mesa up to 8000 points. Lets see how long that takes.
SO weird that when I added every card from Visions, I got TONS of stuff very quickly, and then all the sudden it was like turning off a faucet. Just nothin', and it's annoying because I am SO CLOSE to a full set. Vampiric Tutor and Natural Order are kind of understandable, but Chronatog? C'mon now.
On one hand, I don't want to send cards to keep accruing points, and on the other, I know that by not sending cards, I'm compounding the problem.
I went ahead and jumped back on, I got a Imperial seal early last year so hoping to get lucky again this go around. I found discord a bit late but send out about 60k in points so far. Reciprocal trades seem to be a big thing which ruins the point of Puca IMO, bit I do have promoted trades out on snapcaster, and misty rainforest.
It took several months under normal circumstances, and three days under promoted trades to finally get ONE Arid Mesa...at a 150% bonus. ~13,000 points. Every point I had.
It's been fun, but now I have zero points, so I am through with the site unless it makes a MAJOR recovery.

While I agree that it is a little counterintuitive to what Puca is supposed to be, I'm just happy to get some cards flowing my way. If that's what I have to do to make it happen, I'm okay with it.

Yeah, same here. And TBH, it's bringing people back the site, which will increase card flow back towards original levels, which in turn will hopefully make Discord a nice distraction but not necessary to the experience.
