Yes, i read about how they wasted time and money doing things no one wanted, then got butthurt when everyone told them they sucked. They are real good at that and personally i would not hire any of them for anything
You say that as if they're the only engineers who have ever done something like this. Companies have made this error before: delivering something the users don't want that ultimately doesn't work.
Also, for better or worse, engineers have egos. Sometimes those egos get in the way of common sense, but if you were to never hire an engineer who made mistakes like this, you'd cull a hell of a lot of people. I know I've made mistakes like this early on in my career and I know plenty of other engineers who are fantastic at this stage in their career but made similar mistakes early on.
This is why I was advocating that the act of taking this on as a business would involve a product manager who gave clearer direction to the engineering team with regard to what the users want rather than the engineers going off on their own.
Totally agree - I work a billion-dollar company with thousands of employees across the globe, and they seem to deliver software at this standard for sport. And that's with thousands of employees. Expecting ten guys in a garage to hit it straight off the bat is displaying a fair lack of knowledge on how software engineering behaves in the real world. That's precisely why there are people in this world making their coin as auditors, testers, verifiers etc. etc.
How some people seem to have a level of entitlement that those same ten guys in a garage need to keep a site up for them 24/7 so that they can continue their God-given right to be gifted Modern staples is something that just gets further beyond me day after day.
I didnt say people never make mistakes i said in a properly run company that gets them fired, especially when the mistake is anywhere near this big. Yes my system culls a lot of people as you say, guess what that works in business, whereas what you describe does not.
As to my knowledge of how software engineering works in the real world, trust me i have alot more experience then either of you...
Ahahahahahahahano. Trust me, I've been in the industry for two decades now, and I'm currently working in a company where that type of behavior gets you promoted to your own level of incompetence (and yes, I'd be moving companies if the industry wasn't in the toilet here at the moment).
A couple weeks ago I cashed out my account by receiving as many MTGO tickets as I could. I paid a 50 point bounty on each one which is basically paying a dollar's worth of points (66 cents equals 100 points) so I didn't lose that much. It was ******* ridiculous that I offered a 25% (or 30%, can't remember) bounty on Scalding Tarns and no one sent them to me and I waited a long time. I ended up buying them with the cash I got for selling tickets, and had some money left over. And when I offered 25-30% in bonus points that was equal to or more than the cash value for tarns, that was all of the points in my account. So by trading for MTGO tickets and selling those for cash, I saved money than if I had spent all of my points.

Nice work! Yeah, I'm hoping that this helps to bring some of the bounties under control in a way.
As much as tix are going to be the new frontier for bounties, at least they have more of a bound on their worth. It'll be interesting to see what happens as the hardcore Puca grinders head down this road.
And, for the record, had a roughly 100pt trade committed in my direction over the weekend - first in about a fortnight, and only a little one, but signs of life. Should pick up again this time next week, I'd be thinking.
Have 13k worth of cards heading my way as we speak, including many modern playables. Just be patient. It may be slower than it used to be and harder to get staples, but it's still possible.

Despite all the discussion about Puca lately i chose to give it a try, trade off some valuable unplayed things - we severely lack trading possibilities in my town - and aim for some cheap reprints, new artworks, modern framed bulks and a hand full of wants i've been looking for in ages.
It took ages to punch in the ~500 cards i'd feel okay with trading off (PM me or check link in signature if interested) now i am curious to see if and how fast i can get my hands on some of the 83 wants.
I didnt say people never make mistakes i said in a properly run company that gets them fired, especially when the mistake is anywhere near this big. Yes my system culls a lot of people as you say, guess what that works in business, whereas what you describe does not.

Please, share your knowledge of "how software engineering works in the real world" and how it would apply to what's happening at PucaTrade. At this point I'm dying to understand your version of how the industry works. So far you've largely been tossing out insults and trash talk; if you claim to have so much more experience I'd be curious to hear a more detailed explanation.
I'm also curious to understand your definition of a "properly run company" in this case and how it goes about assessing who should be fired.
So I sent out a few cards, using Pucashield. The cards didn't arrive, so the Admins refunded me the cost of Pucashield. Not the cost of the cards insured, but the insurance itself. I have no idea what is going on with this website anymore. I want to speak positively of it, but they make these completely asinine, random-ass decisions sometimes...
That sounds more like an error in handling that more than an indication of how pucashield is supposed to work. I hope that user contacted the admins about that and will get it corrected.

There is a lot more discussion on the fb page about it, but he contacted the admins and they told him he's burnt.

That's weird... I've just closed one off that failed to make it from Australia to Germany for some reason (i.e. thanks, postal service), and was refunded fully.
I suspect he must have history with the site admins or something for that to be happening.
Have they talked anymore about the inflation? To me that is worse than the new site. I've seen people running 100% bounties on tix just to cash out which is basically the equivalent of a run on the bank.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.

That is quite concerning. If enough people are doing that its a sign that people have near zero faith in the current pucatrade system and are simply trying to cash out as quickly as possible so they are not the ones left with points and nothing to show for it.
I hope they are able to turn things around with the site and get customer confidence back up again to where people wont be offering such crazy bounties on tix and such, but we will have to wait and see. Until things do stabilize though, I expect these sorts of crazy bounties to continue, and if I were a potential new user, I would certainly be wary of getting involved in the site until things did stabilize, which is I imagine putting even more pressure on a system that was built on a continually growing base to help keep things flowing smoothly and consistently.
The huge bottleneck on things like duals/fetches as well I suspect wont ever really be able to be dealt with, its simply part of the nature of the site. And depending upon people's impatience with the system bounties will also be a recurring theme to help people get what they want faster, some bounties are fine and reasonable of course, however when you start getting into 50-100% bounty territory, that's definitely not a good place to be and a sign of extreme instability and a lack of customer confidence in the system/site.

On the topic of inflation, the selling point is pretty stable at 0.60 per 100 points. I have seen people trying to cash out offering to sell points at 0.50 per 100.
This is quite unusual for a pre-release weekend... After the midnight sealed events and Saturday's sealed events, I STILL have all my Puca Points (I have a huuuuuge list of KLD wants). In the past, people would rush home to ditch singles before the inflated prices deflate. So far, not a single Kaladesh single from my list is being sent to me. I still have the same 8,700~ points I had on Friday evening. In fact, my points went up after a couple more packages came into traders.
Anyone else having an issue getting their Kaladesh singles this weekend? If not, hope there isn't a glitch or anything wrong w/ the new site. Puca Trade admin's are allowing KLD singles to go out prior to the official release date, right?

Yeah, you've always been able to start getting singles once people start cracking packs at prereleases. My strong suspicion is that it's still reflective of trade traffic being glacially slow since the update. I'm still waiting on a pile of Conspiracy 2 wants with ~7500 in my account.

This happened to me after conspiracy 2, and was the straw that broke for cutting my paid subscription. I figured things were really screwed when folks weren't trying to unload their (mostly) worthless draft-matters cards ASAP. Conspiracy 2 was the last set I planned on maintaining my paid subscription for, but I was so bummed by seeming lack of post-release trading frenzy, that I landed up just burning through my remaining 7500 points on misc edh and cube stuff. I'm definitely done with the site now.
So glad I was able to get my 36,000 points out over the last two weeks down to just .04 cents. I went nuts on adding any card I could possibly want in the future. Stuff like enough Snow lands for EDH decks and adding Shock lands to finish playsets. Ended up adding 200+ cards and got my points cleared out. As above the final straw for me was the total lack of movement on all the Conspiracy 2 cards I wanted. Thing is I will really miss the site. I loved being able to move out cards I did not want for cards I did want. Cancelling membership now.
I'm offering bounties on hyperinflated prerelease cards and not getting a single bite. Pucatrade is dead.
"Dead" is probably a bit dramatic. I don't think it will ever be truly dead until the guys like Chris Hanrahan have stopped sending (and they're all very much still going). To quote Monty Python, it's not dead, it's just tired and shagged out following a prolonged squawk.
People in small to medium sized communities have a pretty big incentive to use the site because the local card supply just doesn't have enough binders to create any semblance of liquidity. I'm still not willing to completely bail, I'm just keeping a low point balance and a large want list that is very flexible on language until it either dies for real or recovers.

Yeah, this is about where I'm at. It certainly won't die in Australia - too many guys chasing things that can't be bought off shelves easily or cheaply here.
That said, my drought got broken spectacularly overnight. I'd sat my points total at 9K, and figured I'd load my Haves List up with awesome things, given that the number of potential recipients is falling... I mean, it's worth a punt, right? If nothing happened, I didn't lose anything.
And then someone in Australia triggered a ~6400pt trade with me, headlined by three Temple Gardens, Cyclonic Rift and Worldspine Wurm. Heck yeah (and thanks, Xeroix7, if you climb into this thread on occasion!)... I was probably just going to tick things over with small trades within Australia, like you suggested above, but this one puts me well back on the bandwagon.
Puca is still well and truly alive... it just needs patience, as always. #stillherestilltrading
The BIG issue here, and I know this because I have emailing bugs back n' forth w/ the team at Puca Trade, is exactly that, BUGS. They have thrown themselves into the PT dark ages (so to speak). I see a number of issues daily, i.e. - when trading packages, the amount shown in the upper left of the package differs from the actual amount of the package (call it unintentional false advertising). Also, the mobile version crashes, buttons don't work, and text becomes overlapped.
Only until PT becomes a well-oiled machine, the masses are going to be weary of using the site. Once PT get's its act straight, I might go back to a paid membership. BUT, w/ the option now to send packages that are organized by point amount, I wonder if a silver/gold membership is even worth it. If others share the same sentiments, then they have dug their own financial grave by making it too easy for the free members to get the most out of the site. My thoughts could be that a silver membership gets the option to send packages, but on the flip side, that will just scare off more users.
Puca Trade may need to go the Uber route & give away money (as incentives) for the members. Maybe drawings for give away's, i.e. PT card sleeves or play mats. Or even hard to find cards like ABU duals or other prized cards. Such as each time to trade off 1,000 points in a given period of time, you get an entry.
Wow, just touched on 3 or 4 different topics... scattered brained I guess...
