There is the jund commander deck at my local store, and prossh happens to be my favorite general of the 5, is that deck worth the buy or should i just buy the good cards from it?
the deck costs 30 dollars
and yes im aware its a little late, but i just got back into magic
Honestly man, it's up to you. I'm a fan of the decks, and just say buy it, but if you've seen the decklist and have plenty of the cards already, then you can go the other route and just get the singles.
Plains - John Avon - 230
Island - Jung Park - 235
Island - Vincent Proce - 237
Swamp - John Avon - 238
Mountain - John Avon - 242
Forest - John Avon - 246
I have three of the five decks (Prossh, Oloro, and technically Jeleva, but its now Nekusar) and I think Prossh is my favourite. I'm running all three without tutors because I enjoy them as a whole that much. They're definitely worth picking up if you want to get into the mix, but always be aware that the preconstructed decks are capable of being taken in three or four different directions. You will find as you play it that you like certain abilities and that others are less appealing. Build for the strengths and mechanics you enjoy and you will not regret it.
I bought the case of all 5 just because. The value of the cards is falling though.
Despite this being the case, it probably won't always be true and it's probably safe to say in the long-haul, all the decks will probably be worth more than their MSRP as of now. Isn't this true of the first Commander series? Even with the expanding player base and the longer print run, the demand is going up just as well so I don't see these being any different.
Even if it's less now for the Jund deck like Annorax says, it isn't less by a whole hell of a lot. Keep in mind, the prices will still get worse before they get better, though.

These will eventually go the way of every other product like it:
Commander
Planechase 2012
These have unique cards they will eventually be worth a decent chunk more than retail, I have multiple boxed sets and am glad to hold onto them for a few years. If you want a quick flip you will not be rewarded with any of the decks, even True-Name Nemesis right now is having a hard time keeping the price of the Grixis deck up as he falls in value..
Anything with unique cards is a great speculation target in my opinion, since the vast majority of the cards will never be reprinted or if they are it will be way down the line.
Another factor with a product like this is that casual value of the overall deck is far more important, Counterpunch and Political Puppets were hot items right when original Commander hit due to Legacy staples in each deck. Over time casual value hedged all the other decks and, Heavenly Inferno started to drastically gain value. That trend is far more important than which deck has the best legacy card in it.
You missed the boat on this if you expect a value sealed version from the Grixis version thats better than singles. The rest are not worth the value of the sealed version. If you go to target; you can find them at $30.00. You have to beat the crows though.
I actually question the not being reprinted part. The actual valuable cards have been reprinted in a lot of cases. They've been judge foils, Commander Arsenal foils, Scavenging Ooze got a heavily lopsided promo run and a standard reprint, and some were even reprinted in Commander 2. It won't get reprinted is a lot tougher sell than it was in the days before FTV. Now, pretty much any valuable card, not reserved, is likely to be reprinted. The question is how and when.

While this is true, I think people here are most concerned with large scale reprintings that drastically reduce prices, such as Thoughtseize in Theros and Scavenging Ooze in M14. In most cases FTV, Commander's Arsenal, and judge foil printings don't have this effect. I'd say the Commander 2013 cards will only continue to increase in value, and if the recent trends for many of the original Commander set cards are any indication, the increase in value could be pretty drastic given a year or two. I think a large scale reprint is pretty unlikely for a long time.
Even so, I'd typically just buy the cards that appeal the most. The sealed product will likely come with a lot of unnecessary things.
I think it depends on the card. Command Tower is probably getting reprinted about every year. We also haven't had anything take off like ooze other than tnn. A lot of the cards are unplayable in constructed and could easily be reprinted modern masters style if the start letting new cards into the format with them and something like conspiracy could easily reprint in high quantity. Tnn could even go into a future draft set if conspiracy goes well. If it's mythic, I doubt it wrecks things more than baneslayer.
I say to buy it if it is just to play. Play with the deck a few times and see what could be replaced in it and what you would do differently. The Commander decks are a great place to start (at least they were for me), especially if you don't have a large collection. Other than a few easy additions (lightning greaves for one) you could take the deck in almost any direction you choose.
