The pathmark by my house has a vending machine that sells magic cards. I figured why not, and tried my luck to see what i would pull. Mostly old crappy commons, that are worth about 25 cents a piece.
But i also pulled this River Boa with a Gold border and it looks like it is signed by Sven Geerston, which is awesome because i love the card River Boa, the gold border looks awesome, and the signature is pretty cool also.
I was just wondering if anyone knew if it was worth anything in particular, or if it would be better just to hang on to.

Whats the big deal about black lotus you ask? Well you see, there is no big deal about it. It IS the big deal.
Yeah. Aside from 3-4 of the gold bordered cards they are all worth nothing. I've got 3 of the decks totally intact that I've been trying to sell for 2 years now, people are interested, see that there aren't any fetches or Forces of Will, and pass.
I've always been curious as to what these fabled MTG vending machines look like. Can you take a picture next time you're there?
As a side note, I had good luck just buylisting the gold border cards. I had an open brian kibler deck, slightly played, and got like $30 for the whole thing to ABUgames (of course they are selling the GB variants for like 75% of normal version prices, which is ridiculous).
This proves that official proxies do have a very large market, I would love to permament marker them to black border and use them for Legacy testing if they were printed en masse again.
These cards do not feel like regular cards, even in sleeves, and the backs and the fact that Wizards has explicitly stated that these are not for tournament use make them illegal for tournament use. People use these as high quality proxies for Commander. Purely casual demand.
I've actually seen a huge upswing in alteration requests for the Gold Border cards in the last few months. They are used as proxies but the gold border seems to irritate a lot of people and they are willing to pay money to fix that. What I've heard is basically "I can get a pretty looking functional card for EDH for the same or smaller price as a boring real one."
When looking at pimp, people are oddballs
It's worth noting that the only cards people want to have done are cards with $50+ real prices. You can find most of those for $5-$10 in GB with everything else being useless.
Obviously they aren't tournament legal, I only used them for playtesting purposes. It's quite a hassle to get genuine dual lands for testing a deck you may or may not end up using in a tournament, and for that I could borrow them for the day.

I found copies for sale for $.10.

Thanks though. I'll keep it and stick it in a deck or something and have some fun with it.
