Whatever didn't sell will probably get held back by dealers until the market resets. Might be some snipe chances on eBay if someone decides to sell and hasn't seen the announcement. Other than that...yeah, it could get awkward
pro tours a few weeks out. See how much buzz bitter blossom gets there. Even if it sees hype there and a deck list, it won't be coming down for a very long time
Yup, once cards like this rise, there really isn't any turning back. Even if it fails to live up to the hype now, it takes forever for cards to come back down
Bitterblossom isn't only in faerie deck, I played it in martyr proc (for legacy). It was such a good combo and fun thing to play with. While the deck wasn't strong enough in legacy, it should pack a decent punch in modern. The price is going to remain high, due to low stock and new demand to test out the card.
I wish my 4/4s with haste and first strike that acted as Goblin Warchiefs were better and didn't die to instants and overshadowed all other 4 drops in the format. And that they had evasion too, and some way to dodge wrath effects.
time spiral and land tax didn't get this nutty when they got unbanned - and they eventually calmed down. I expect BB to do the same if fairies doesn't put up results.

Modern speculators and buy outs are a little more volatile than legacy. Also, people kinda prepped for bitterblossom jumping and TCG already had a semi buy out. Then when it got unbanned it had a total buy out and BOOM goes the price. With the cards you mentioned, people didn't truly see it coming so they only had the one jump.
Morningtide is a low print run set, right? This could be awkward.
Yeah, Morningtide had a horrible print run due to the fact that it was drafted so little. The Lorwyn/Morningtide Shadowmoor/Eventide was not only a weird set distribution for its time, but it also was before the "M10 boom".
Honestly the sky is the limit for Bitterblossom. Judging by all the posts I've seen around forums, everyone has been frothing at the mouth to play Faeries.
the price already started dropping here (~55) i suspect those who bought it out will relist them at competitive prices so I think it'll land at a 40-50 dollar card before any sort of reprint
the big winner here is the judge foil (no idea where this is going to land), i've been contemplating a judge playset at 30 a piece for a few months now but theres no chance of that ever now.
So someone knew this card was getting unbanned. In the other preban runups nobisy bought out BB like this.
There have been other instances when people thought it was going to get unbanned and it shot up in value prior to the announcement, and when it didn't get unbanned it settled back down again. The supply on the market wasn't exactly overly huge to start with, so all it took was a few decent speculators (and a number of people looking to not be left behind if it did get unbanned) to buy out the stock available online in the run-up to the announcement. More were beginning to get listed again before the announcement came, but as soon as it did, I watched ebay/tcgplayer completely sell out within a couple minutes (as one would expect). Leaving us where we are now. The price seems unlikely to hold at the current price, especially as more get listed, as is already beginning to occur.
Also the buyout trends have become even more extreme over the last year as modern has continued to pick up and more and more people are willing to go all-in on their speculations. I don't honestly suspect that anyone had some sort of insider information beforehand. You simply had lots of people speculating on the unban, and unlike previous times where it didn't, this time it actually happened, and so, up it flies. Personally I could see it settling within the $40-$50 range, the current price just doesn't seem sustainable.
But this specific? AV didn't get this run up. BB was ~$15 until about a month ago and then started shooting up. Was the evidence so convincing that it would be unbanned? I really don't think so. Wizards logic in justifying bans has been shaky at best. You can't apply what they said in prior announcements to cards in the current meta and judge whether they'll be banned or not.
I do understand what you're saying, but this buy out felt different to me. Maybe that's because I was paying attention to this one because I didn't want to spec on it and I hate fae, but the other cards that were going to be potentially unbanned didn't dry up weeks in advance.
Anyone else see this as a potential nod to the Modern Event deck? Seems a perfect excuse to reprint BB now. Unbanning it and banning a $10 rare did nothing to make Modern more affordable.

I feel the same way as you Quacker. Someone probably had insider information. IF this is the case then someone is either leaking or profiting off said knowledge to the detriment of the community.
To be fair the only decks that ran Deathrite Shaman were basically the most expensive decks in the format.
It's like claiming that when Bloodbraid Elf was banned the format got more expensive, never mind that Bloodbraid only saw play in Jund and that was the most expensive deck in the format. I guess banning a card like Deathrite or Bloodbraid would hurt a casual modern deck but those are pretty much irrelevant when discussing bannings and unbannings.

I checked out the timing of the run on Noble Hierarchs, as that was clearly in response to the DRS ban announcement. On eBay there were about a dozen buy-it-nows that were snapped up in quick succession. It appears to have started at 9:10pm Sunday night. If eBay is showing me Pacific time on the completed listings, then that doesn't indicate any foreknowledge, but I'm in the Central Time Zone and it always shows me Central time for active listings.
I think there was likely no foreknowledge here, just a lot of people who were guessing correctly. It was a pretty easy guess, and each time a b&r announcement was upcoming there were a few people who moved in on BB ahead of the announcement.
BB is probably played as a 4-of, or not at all, which helps support the price. It could be played in 2-3 decks. It saw basically no legacy play, so the $15 price was based on casual play and folks with long-term specs on it being unbanned. $75 seems unsustainably high, as Mutavault wasn't that high before reprints and was more heavily played than I'd expect BB to be. V-Clique was played all over Legacy and Modern, albeit as a 2-3 copy per deck card, and barely approached that level. If the BB Fae deck is competitive at all, it will be widely played because it is fun to pilot, so I could see it staying above $50 in that case. If Fae doesn't pan out, there will be a lot of folks wanting to play BW tokens, as that deck has a reputation as a casual favorite, and that ensures enough demand that it won't even dip back below $30.
I think it could maintain Thoughtseize (pre-reprint) or current level Dark Confidant prices, I mean in modern the card has more potential than it does in Legacy. Several pros have stated that they will show Wizards why the card should be banned if the unban it. Be prepared for Pro Tour Born of the Gods to be the coming out party for this card.
We won't just see Faeries+BW Tokens running this thing I guarantee it. This card helps multiple decks on multiple angles, and faeries is just the first level to go to.
Obviously this discounts the card showing up in something that may influence its available copies.
I have a Bitterblossom (Judge Promo) and a Mistbind Clique. What should I do with them? Sell into the hype now? It seems to be cooling really fast as is. Or should I wait till after the pro tour?
Judge Promo carries a premium, and it seems like a card that would be more resistant to downward pressure than the regular versions. It's always possible that the normal copies could dip, while the judge promo remain constant if even go up. I'm thinking kinda like Vendilion Clique judge promo.
Reprints the one card that people point to when saying that art objectifies women.
Well done Wizards.
Liliana does not objectify women in any way at all. We have gotten to a point in our society that every single picture of a women must be objectifying a women in some negative way......blah blah blah.. That is not the case. (((Sarcasm)))Picture of a girl drinking a milk shake, must be sex related and putting women down, picture of girl sitting on a beach, picture of a girl driving a car, picture of a girl on the moon at a new space station.)))
You have a picture of an attractive strong power women who girls dress up as for anime conventions. What more do you want? The picture is fine, happy to see a reprint. Sick of of seeing people claim that everything in existence must be putting women down. Then all I have to do is replace the word "women" with anything else to get the same mentality; fish, cats, arabs, blacks, jews, men, environment, whites, chinese, old people, etc. It doesn't matter what word I put in. Stop sucking life out of everything man. That artwork of her is awesome. Stop putting stuff down man. Just stop. If the picture was really as negative as you claim she would totally nude, in a kitchen, making sandwiches and giving blow jobs. Her abilities would be horrible as well. +1 do nothing -2 do nothing -6 do nothing. Instead liliana of the veil is an amazing planeswalker comparable to jace, the mind sculpter with great art to appreciate.
My suggestion listen to some comedy radio for a while, pandora is free, youtube is free there is something out there for you. ***** go make fun of somebody. The whole world is so serious and campaigning for some cause, or someones rights, everything is a hate crime, racist, sexist. blah blah blah.
"O no mcdonalds must be slandering a hate crime against skinny people every time they make a big mac." hahaha jeeze You're just someone perpetuating another groups negative perspective that they've made you believe is correct. Look at the picture for a hour and tell me what's wrong with it? I don't see anything.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
ALL copies on TCGPlayer are gone... except one at $89.99!!!
I bet in a few days they'll be sold back to online retailers, at an exuberant amount, and hover around $70.00 for a while.
I haven't seen a card sell out this quickly in a while!
Not sure how high it can go, at first I was thinking 50, but now I'm not so sure
Current post- Grand Prix KC Modern Postmortem (7/7/13)
Might be a glitch but the cheap stuff is already gone
80 dollars in the span of a night is crazy. Land Tax when it got unbanned raised to like 30 from 20.
My current decks!

I'd be willing to bet an arm and a leg that BB will be reprinted in one of those sets if not another supplemental product
