(Please only talk about actual gainers, not speculation about upcoming rotation)
Being the only format that rotates so very often, I don't think it would be unwise to expand this thread to be able to include "future gainers" in discussion. The card pool is small enough that spikes are easily seen and discussion about cards that go up as a result of cards that have gone up or done well just seems relevant to me. What do you think?
(Please only talk about actual gainers, not speculation about upcoming rotation)
How exactly is this discussion harming? This thread (and part of forum) is dead if people are not allowed to discuss things. If majority of people want to discuss this stuff, it should be allowed instead of following rules to the letter. Splitting discussion into 100 different threads in pointless. Just have "standard price", "modern price", "legacy price" and "commander price" for price discussion.
I both agree and disagree with this at the same time. I think what we should have, is in addition to the huge gainer threads, we should have format speculation value threads as far as what people may think will happen to cards in the future, rather than the purpose of this thread which is to discuss cards that are in the process of or already have spiked or "Hugely gained". Just something to think about.

But one of the threads would be eventually buried and the problem would arise once more. I say they can both be in the same thread without any issues arising.
I have to disagree, if there is reasonable demand for each topic, then separate threads (stuck to the top part of the market street page like this one is now), would each get a reasonable amount of views and commentary. And it could then be decided later, depending upon how things went how to handle that separation. I personally like this thread the way it is, keeping to things that have or are in the process of moving. I don't want this thread filled with speculation as then it waters down the information that would come from this thread as it could then start to be difficult to differentiate between what people are speculating will happen in the future, and what has actually happened now. Keeping the two topics separate I think is the best way around, in the same way that speculation and actual verifiable information is kept separate in the rumor mill area of the forums. Up to the mods in the end though, but that's my several cents on the topic.
I think cythare and Taylor Swift are both cancerous fu ck ing ni gg ers that need to die. "Uggghfhfhf don't post this its spam hurrr durrr" convey a real job you dumb cu.nt
I believe there's a buyout underway for Demonic Pact. The card has risen a little over a $1 in the days leading up to the Pro Tour and it has saw some action at the event as a combo with Woodland Bellower and Invasive Species.
EDIT: Demonic Pact is now completely bought out on TCGPlayer. Foils are gone as well.

I agree: there should be a "currently gaining/spiking" thread and a "speculation" thread. Of course, there is so little activity here since the updates were taken out of the forums and put somewhere else, it doesn't really matter. there's more discussion about whether there should be speculation than there has been about gainers in a long time.

I was trying to buy my playset in the middle of that. Both playsets I clicked on to purchase on Ebay sold before I clicked to BIN (and there were no playsets left for BIN after that), and Channel Fireball's 30 copies sold out while I was checking out. Ended up finding 4 from a random store through TCG, although I am not holding my breath about the sale going through until I receive a shipping confirmation.
Hangarback Walker is up to a solid $16. Abbot of Keral Keep is approaching $8/each. Happy about both of these.
Yep, I actually "bought" 20 of them from an online store, only to have the money refunded this morning. Now I understand what people feel like when this happens. Now it's relisted at more than double the price.
I think Demonic Pact is also showing some movement.

Ensoul Artifact appears to have begun spiking over the weekend. Am I right to assume that it saw a fair bit of play in the Pro Tour, given the timeframe?
Either way, it's jumped 100pts on Pucatrade over the weekend, and it's literally about to rotate. If this is due to Standard play only, I'd be dropping it like it's hot.
Looks like the PT spikes are as follows:
Demonic pact (up to $10)
Hangerback Walker (up to $16)
Ghostfire Blade (up to $1.50)
Exquisite Firecraft (up to $10)
Ensoul Artifact (up to $2.50)
I tend to agree with the speculators. How much good is it finding out about a gain after it happened? It's done, you missed it, but now you know about it (since everyone else already saw it on tcgplayer). Knowing when something is starting to tick up or down is good, but without the speculation its all just old news and of no use to anyone.
In another note. [EDIT: snip] Right now the EV for the whole set is so high you could buy a box and profit just selling it all back at buylist prices (assuming $100 or less for a box) and there's no way that's going to last, because it just means people are going to open a ton more product until the market balances. There's going to be a major price collapse for origins very soon. Normal EV sell for a box of a current set is around $65. Origins is over double that off my rough estimate.
EDIT: had a big thing in there talking about Jace, but the original I was referring to was a few pages back and it really wasn't important to the point as a whole.
You can get it much cheaper than that. A lot of stores on TCGPlayer have it for $8-9 with shipping. To be honest, the spike has only doubled the card's price and it is still continuing to go down.
Meh, if you check tcgplayer there are a ton for ~$30. Also, 0 in the top 8.
What new planeswalker made it to Top 8? 2 Flippy Chandras. lol and she's inched up like $1 to $11.
Figureative forgot Abbot of Keral Keep. Mentioned before but up to $9.
AHEM!!!!!!! Drafting, drafting, drafting.
There was a sweet Jeskai deck with 4x Jace F. Dickmann and Mackl were playing and did very well with. 7-2-1 and 7-3 respectively.
Still $40 is just insane.
So magic origins now has 2x $40 mythics, 1x $30 mythic, 5x $10-12 mythics then a $20 rare and 4x $10 rares.
Gotta love pro tour week. Singles sellers print some cash, Hasbro smiles at their bottom line. Standard players get a Shrapnel Blast in the hip pocket.
I'd like to play a couple of the decks but no way am I paying those prices. I'd rather just play jank for 8 weeks and put some money into KTK fetchlands securing my mana bases for post rotation.
