Anyone know where I might find some non foil russian cards? I'm searching for an infernal tutor, a mystic gate, and a couple entreat the angels. Btw, I started building miracles after years of exclusively playing storm variants.. lets see where this goes...

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the tyranny of magical cards.
Try that other mtg trading site - there's some sellers there esp for standard. Or pm the couple ppl on mtgs who are selling russian cards and ask if they happen to have those?
In my opinion, selling cards should nto be done unless you are a brick and mortar store. It is fine on a small scale to pay for hobbies, but as a job...no. It is not worth the time and effort you put in.

As someone who has been selling on ebay for the last decade, and was involved with a brick and mortar store for 6 years (up until a year ago), I can honestly say that given the sheer amount of time and effort involved to be able to make a decent living.... No ... its not worth it :p.
I am looking forward to liquidating my own massive collection at this point (which is taking forever), and then going out and finding a normal job, with normal hours, and a normal regular income :p.

Working with a store is different than running a "shop" here on MtGS, TCGPlayer, or Ebay. And there is nothing wrong with selling. I just find it funny how much time and effort is put into selling when you actually look at the profit margins.

Well, given that I was working 14 hours a day, 7 days a week for 2 years straight up until I left the shop about a year ago, due to the high volume of sales I did and my attempts to keep up with demand, and all the collections/cards/trades/etc coming in from people, and all the ebaying I had to do on top of the shop sales to make it all balance out cash wise, yeah, I was beyond burned out :p. Hence the doctor being concerned for my health and telling me to cut my hours in 1/2 or find a new profession or I was in for a world of trouble if I wasn't taking the time to take care of myself better. For perspective, my final year's sales at the shop were $150,000, my sales on ebay for the same year, were $90,000, that's $240,000 worth of sales (take that number and double it if you add trading into that, I did an insane amount of trading), all handled myself, with only a small amount of help from a couple friends sorting cards for me (which I paid them for). When my ebay/shop combined total was $100,000 from years prior, that I didn't mind at all, in fact I enjoyed it. My profit margins were never all that fantastic though, typically around 10% when everything was said and done, and either my ebay/paypal fees (previous a combined 15% or so), or the amount the shop got from my sales (also 15%), definitely put a severe dent in my take home for all that time and effort I put in.
On the upside though, finally having the time to be able to liquidate this stuff, I'm now debt free, and I estimate I should end up with around $150k in the bank by the time I finish selling everything off likely by the end of next year. This years and next years taxes are going to suck though, that's the fun part of finally selling everything off and getting some real money to show for it :p.
Thats pretty crazy that you have 150k worth of cards. Honestly my collection is starting to grow right now where Im thinkings its worth up to maybe 3k-4k? Thats a hell of a lot of money for a hobby already.... Of course I've only really invested 1.5k into and its been 3 years... so not too bad. A lot of time though. Never though I be able to own duel lands though. Now I got a play set of Useas and couldnt be happier.

Yup, and for me, it started in '99 once I had successfully gotten enough scholarships to cover my entire first year of college, and then found out that on top of that I also qualified for enough financial aid to cover it if I didn't have the scholarships. Thusly the $4,000 I had saved up over the years to pay for what I could of my college, I was able to use inevitably for building my magic collection. Ended up buying a ton of large collections off of yahoo/ebay auctions at the time and inevitably turned that into 4 sets of everything from revised to current sets of the time, plus a ton of extra urza-block stuff (at least I had good timing for getting back into playing again after being away from the game for a while), and continued to buy/sell/trade to build the collection, added ebay as a consistent sales outlet in 2002, in addition to some disposable income from my job at the time, continued to buy and sell collections, and would often help out shops when they got collections by them offering me 50% off of scrye prices and I would grab anything I could at least break even on so they could then keep the cards flowing and I would always have fodder for ebay. I eventually became known as "the card guy" for the area, and once two other local shops closed down and I bought out their inventories, when the next shop was set to open up, I was made an offer to own/run the magic singles collection for the store. I thought it was a great opportunity and jumped at the chance. Built a great business that was good for the shop, good for my customers, and did make me some money as my collection exploded in size from the 500,000 card collection I started with when the shop opened to the 3.5 million card collection I ended with when I left the shop 6 years later. If anyone would have told me I would be buying 200+ booster boxes of each new set and doing well north of $100,000 in sales at just the shop per year at the start, I would have thought they were crazy :p. I do miss it, but at the same time, its a relief not to have to worry about keeping up on all that anymore.
Honestly a lot of the money I've made from my collection was simply from buying and holding (in some part simply because I didn't have the time to offload a lot of the older stuff), and just making use of good deals and opportunities through the shop or otherwise when they came. And with the explosion in the popularity of the game over the last several years, a lot of those cards I had been sitting on are now worth a ton more than they used to be. The part that is going to be a pain just due to the size and randomness of the collection is the foils. At last estimate, my foil collection is approx. 100,000 cards. (I always liked foils and since most other shops around us didn't, I ended up with nearly all of them from the local magic community, plus the huge amount built up from opening an insane number of boxes each year :p.
I just largely always viewed my entertainment budget as a source of investment income, which is why I would always typically use it on magic cards rather than video games or other stuff that I really didn't need.
I finally pulled the trigger on my final 2 thoughtseize, and they weren't even the versions I wanted, but I couldn't justify spending that much on cards anymore.
Sitting, eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich while the kids play with Legos.
Closest family is 1200 miles away.
Wife worked a 12 hour shift last night and doesn't get up for another hour.
The grocery store was open so I packed the kids into the car, bought ice cream, 2 pies, and a 4 pack of HUB's Winter Ale. Hopefully that settles the day and makes the traditional "Buffalo Chicken" Thanksgiving dinner that I'm about to start go well.
We had our traditional Thanksgiving. We had our normal turkey dinner with fixings, got eventful when my brother (As per usual) insisted on arguing about the table arrangement we had set up and other things to make the day more difficult), but by the time we were set to eat, all was good. All in all happy to have us all available to be able to have thanksgiving together. Have to make the best of such holidays while you can, because you never know what the future will hold for family or otherwise.
Other than that portion of it, got some early black Friday shopping done, thanks to bestbuy and some great online deals (ended up ordering 25 seasons total of various TV series, as well as another 27 DVD/Blue ray movies. Along with getting the blue ray player I wanted off of amazon (since bestbuy sold out before I could grab that too :p), I'm just thankful I can ignore actual black Friday more or less completely (unless I find some more deals online <.<). And my family is thankful soo, since they were also able to order some stuff online (with my help), and they now have gifts to give me, which they always hassle me about :p.
Now I'm just looking forward to a relaxing weekend before starting my full-on diet/exercise plan on the 1st and getting back on track with my ebaying. (Calm before the storm I think they call that) :p.
I hope you all have and had a great thanksgiving, and even if you don't celebrate it, I hope everyone had a good Thursday regardless :).
Had a good thanksgiving, traditional meal with turkey, stuffing pie. With family and such, a good time. Also, bought every season of Lost on DVD at a dirt cheap price...
I'm on a journey now, 121 hour long episodes.

Too. Much. Black Friday shopping. And none on mtg cards! That and no real black friday deals this year for singles, oh wells. Happy thanksgiving weekend to everybody!

It's a good series, but in retrospect they could have stopped after 2 seasons and I probably would rank it higher on my favorite shows list. Not saying the other seasons are bad; 1 & 2 are just superior, and the story had a natural ending point there if they wanted to.
I top 4'ed a legacy tournament for dual lands and got 5 packs yesterday. Worst prize payout ever...store takes in 375ish in attendance fees and pays out a tropical island, scrubland, and 10 packs that they paid 20 dollars for and the dual lands they probably paid 150 for at most.

My birthday is coming up, the 21st. I don't really celebrate that much anymore. I just collect money from my relatives and move on with my life.
