I was looking up the price of the M14 Gameday Playmat and was surprised to see several ended on eBay between $50 and $80. The one ending soonest on eBay is at $80 with a ton in the $60-$70 range behind it.
I've never bothered tracking the price of playmats before; how does it usually go? Do they hold value well? Is the M14 playmat special; or is this normal pricing for Gameday playmats?
Playmats prices generally art determined by the art but also uniqueness. Some like the Spellgrounds Playmat and the GP Lincoln Playmat get pretty pricey
I've never understood purchasing the game day playmats, if you didn't win it then don't use it. It's a little different with GP mats as they don't say champion on them.

Look at my name...what did you expect?
Thank you WOTC for introducing the Modern format, a format where all the whiners can enjoy a level playing field and where they can play with none of the best cards of all time!
I personally wouldn't buy a game day play mat for over $15 and the "market" value is probably closer to $30. But...who knows? This may be the next "hot" item for Magic. It's such an inflammatory market.

The top 8 world Chandra playmat is going for over 100, GP Singapore with deathpact angel goes for over 100, GP Vegas with sword of fire and ice is about 90. Playmats can be expensive if they have good art on them that people want.

That's true. I was completely wrong on my guess of the price. It seems to be on Ebay for about $75 and an awesome seller here on MTGS who always has good prices is selling it for $75, so I'm inclined to say it is that price.
I didn't realize that the Game Days were that serious. The past few years, it seemed that Game Days had evolved into "fun deck" day and I haven't been able to make it because of work. I may have to try to play some again.

To be completely honest, I'm sure boobs have a lot to do with it in this most recent case
This, really. + Chandra in general. Kind of hate that I lost in the finals again, would have loved that playmat. It is true that the playmats command a lower price in Europe though, wonder why.
man i thought the OP was crazy and didn't look well, but that playmat really sells for 60-70 on ebay. CRAZY!... i should have won that playmat instead of the DGM one :S

it will go down to 30 dollars. I don't have any doubts of this.
Once the gameday has been awhile, it becomes irrelevent to a lot of people. It will plummit, but stay a little above regular playmats.
The average cost of a playmat is $10-18 retail (depending on popularity and set) and $20-25 for custom print. Custom hand drawn playmats are a whole different ball game though. It all depends on who drew it and what they drew. It could be $40, could be $200.
Wait a while. Or just get an affordable playmat that looks cooler than that for a lower price, as there are hundreds of playmats with different arts out there.
