- i already have an inquisition if i need it for singleton formats
- i'd like to complete my playset of brain in a jar

the question is, that will inquisition stabilize in the 9-10 range, or will start to rise again?
i have drafted the set and it is really nice, and also being not limited, more packs will be opened later

IOK, all day every day.
I would trade you double Pile B for Pile A and not think twice about it. Not an offer (although you can PM me if you want), just a statement of fact.

I don't usually like to trade for new cards at the prerelease, ESPECIALLY not the most hyped card of the set. But I figure that Cavern has already gone where it's going to go, and a reprint in MM3 next year could really crash it. Meanwhile, I have friends who play Standard who might want Chandra for Game Day. So this is probably my rare short-term flip. Thoughts?

If you really want those cards, then go for it. Cavern of Souls probably is near its peak and hopefully will be up for reprinting soon. Those cards are the new Standard hotness, so if you want to run them, it's probably fine. I think it's something like $50 for $55-60. (I could be wrong as I haven't checked in a cool one.)

If you're banking on a reprint of Cavern of Souls, then I think you made a good decision. Additionally if you plan to flip her for something else, that's also a good decision. As long as you don't just hold onto Avacyn and Chandra, I think you'll do very well in the short term.
Pile B -- 2x Birds of Paradise (M11), 3x Knight of the Reliquary, 1x Voice of Resurgence, 1x Scavenging Ooze, 1x Wooded Foothills (KTK)
Thank you all.
Tough call here. If you need the baubles for the suicide zoo deck, then by all means. I just think that the bauble is a perfect reprint card that will absolutely crash its value.
I'd take pile B here gambling that a reprint will just destroy the value of pile A.
From a longer term perspective I like this trade. Bitterblossom already being reprinted means that it's likely going to be a while before we see it again and the Fae deck probably only needs 1 or 2 more cards to become a tier deck in Modern.
The downside of course is that IoK was just reprinted so its value is only going to go up over time. Either way, a good trade though.
Pile B:
1x Saheeli Rai
x1 Sword of Light and Shadow Invention
x1 Queen Marchesa
I feel like if you're a commander player (and can use the cards) or are looking for the safest "investment" the second pile is likely to be better. The sword will most likely go down another 10 by the time kaladesh tapers and I know people are going to hate on me for saying that but the zendikar special lands all tapered heavy. Long-term the sword will hold its value but I don't know about the other two. Pile A is likely to take a hit as kaladesh is opened more but to be honest as both a modern and commander player I would take A because having all the lands would be great and even though they'll dip now I think they'll have potential to go way up long-term.
Pile A:
from a financial view: more risk/reward
from players view: if you're a modern player take this
Pile B:

Value is good. But Dredgevine isn't supposed to be about value. It's supposed to be about V-8; 2000 pounds of nitro boosted war vegetables. The more velocity, the better.

I don't hate you (it's a valid point), but I am going to disagree with you.
Not even entirely, though! You're spot-on in that Pile A is WAY more useful for Standard and Modern players. But Modern cards get reprinted, so I don't see the enemy fastlands gaining a ton of value, especially considering how many of them will be opened. Only go in on Standard/Modern cards that you're going to play.
I'd take Pile A if I were building a Standard deck or a Modern deck that wanted the lands.
I'd take Pile B if I were trading for value, or if I were a collector or blinger.

Cool. Then it worked out for us both (I'm more of the standard/modern player and he's more the collector). Thanks for the confirm, guys.
Pile B: (my pile)
1x Brushland (10th edition foil)
1x Cavern of Souls
1x Eye of Ugin
I'm assuming that he's trying to build the modern Eldrazi deck and you're a collector? In the immediate term, you're giving up a bit of value ($15 or $20 maybe, depending on the condition of the brushland). Foil Brushland isn't even the best foil, so specific pimpers won't be targeting it (They'll go after the black border 7th edition version). In the longer term, I LOVE Ugin's upside. A unique promo from a small set that won't be reprinted that way is a solid gold upside card. Everything you are trading away is fine right now but will tank at the next reprint. Long term I'd have made the same deal.

considering standard rotation was extended, we can't expect enemy fetchies in Amonkhet

i'm thinking if at any time, they get reprinted in standard, it will crash the prices, but the original ones will still demand a bit?

Enemy fetches are hard to pin down. Rotation changing means that they actually could be in Amonkhet, which was designed and developed to exist in a Standard without BFZ block and the fetchable battlelands. But it's my guess that they won't be.
Pile A has four nice foils in it, so I'd go with that as the long-term call. But if I needed my fourth Scalding Tarn for a Modern or Legacy deck, I wouldn't hesitate to take the Tarn. You'll get enough play value out of it before it gets reprinted that it'll be worth it.
So, nobody loses on this one. All the lands look nice and useful.

I have to agree with KnickM here. Sooner or later the fetches will be reprinted and they'll have a similar trajectory in price to the ONS ones. That means they'll be worth $30 or $40 instead of $90. The real trick here is when will that happen? My suspicion is that Wizards will be very cautious about reprinting them because of what they do to standard (lots of shuffling, homogenizing standard to 3/4 color goodstuff decks) and I don't see it happening in the next 2 years.
If you need the tarn for playing right now, you should get at least 2 years of play value out of it prior to reprint so I think you'll be OK. Just understand that when the inevitable happens don't look back and think "man I wish I hadn't done this"
thanks for the feedback.
this whould be my first scalding tarn (always useful to have one more option in EDH).
one thing that concerned me the most and made me to dump them as soon as i got the offer was the fact that supposedly the set is being opened to oblivion, and while the stamped promos are no longer available, i thing the prices of these lands won't go very much higher

Foil promos (and first set foils) are always going to be desired. And, frankly, these lands look Modern-playable, and could easily be a real thing. I don't think that they'd get reprinted outside of a Masters edition set (after all, we've been waiting for a reprint of the allied fastlands for 7 years), so I don't think that they've hit their peaks. I'm also pretty convinced that fetches won't be reprinted in a Standard set in the next few years, but there's zero evidence one way or another; that one is entirely a personal belief.
tl;dr - you made a fine deal; don't worry about it. If you get buyer's remorse, remember that your new fetchland is ridiculously liquid.

As a Legacy staple on the reserve list, you will always be able to trade a Cradle into something amazing. If you make any trades at large events, or online, or if any of your friends do, you'll have no problem trading the Cradle into a Revised dual (or whatever it is that you want). I would not worry about the liquidity of it (Japanese is also a very desired language - it's not as pimp as the judge foil, but it's still going to be one of the nicer Cradles that anyone will see).

Traitors is on the reserve list though too, and we're probably never going to see Welder or Grid in an old border foil again.
That said, I'm leaning heavily towards if. Worst case I would imagine I can flip the Japanese cradle into an English one if it's an issue, and it then becomes would I trade these cards plus a little extra for an english cradle? Yeah I think so.

Yes, City of Traitors is a powerful Reserve List card, and I'd be unhappy giving mine up, but Cradle is basically a blue dual at this point. I bet that most people here would easily give you an English Cradle for your Japanese Cradle.
I think that it's mostly "What do you need more", instead of a snap-pick on either side, but you specifically asked about how hard it'd be to trade away a Japanese Cradle, so I wanted to make sure that my answer was "Not hard at all"
I would take Pile A.
