There's a $40 difference between NPH foil Karn and MM2 foil Karn, so that's pretty relevant.
That said, I'd probably take Pile B here. You can find a NM promo Ugin for $120. If I wanted to get 2 LP foil Snapcasters, I'm out $300, easy. If your Karn is MM2, then that's an easy pick. If it's NPH then it's a lot closer, but I'd probably still take the Snapcasters.

Don't you feel a Promo that will never be printed again will ultimately increase in value more substantially than the declining snapcaster mage?
I could turn around and sell a foil Snapcaster and buy that Ugin and something else.
Ugin will rise, but not meteorically. His value is directly linked to his rarity. People who just want an Ugin can get one for cheap. People who want *that* Ugin will pay more as the supply dries up, but the demand isn't going to be huge either. Look at Book Jace, Champs Mutavault, and other crazy promos. At some point, people stop trying to get them. I'd rather bet on a card that's proven to be a powerhouse in Modern and Legacy.
Yes, he'll be reprinted, but original set foils tend to maintain value.
Again, more info is better. Are you making long-term holds, are you trying to flip immediately, what's your plan?

Trade 1: Pile abbot has about $2 on the piledriver. If you're using abbot for a deck then pick him up, otherwise I would take the piledriver IMO.
Trade 2: I see a lot I like but personally pile A gets way more attention from me. Harbinger is going to be with merfolk long term it will go up. Collected company is played a ton in modern and will hold it's value out of standard Kolaghans command sees pretty decent play in modern amongst grixis decks and the like, it might drop a little bit with rotation but thats a long time yet. Fetches are fetches and I always take the land. The only thing with potential I see in pile B are sword and twin. I see sword maybe seeing some more play with standard and commander but thats it. Twin will slowly rise again until its reprinted but Liliana, gideon, and leap are all poised to fall flat on their face when they drop out in my opinion. This whole thing is assuming your holding onto these long term.
Value is good. But Dredgevine isn't supposed to be about value. It's supposed to be about V-8; 2000 pounds of nitro boosted war vegetables. The more velocity, the better.

Thanks for the detailed reply. All of the stuff I traded for was Pile B and all of it were cards I needed for cube so rest assured those cards will be in there for a long time. The reason I ask for trade afterthoughts is because I tend to overtrade and/or the people I trade with tend to take things of value for stuff I need for cube if it means I won't have to spend money. But overall, all the stuff in Pile A were extras sitting in my binder. I'm curious why you would take the Piledriver over the Abbot. Is there a likelihood Goblin tribal can be a Standard deck with Rabblemaster rotating?

Because I'm a scrub Mostly because he's a solid staple. Odds are he'll hold his value over time with a decent possibility for modern play. I'm just not convinced abbot will see any play besides standard. If you're using the cards for a cube I think it was a good trade. Thats one of the times I will trade staples I like into standard simply because I usually don't take apart commander decks/cubes so they're good investments.

I like the Mana Drain here. I'm seeing Mox Opals on eBay for $30, so that's $120 for the playset with no work (bidding and waiting, tracking down cheaper copies somewhere, etc). I'd pay that for an Italian Mana Drain.

Italian Mana Drain's routinely sell for below $100 on ebay. I would keep the Opals, especially since they have more growth potential (and just were reprinted too).

I don't know abut "routinely". Certainly several have lately, so that's a decent argument for the Opals, but currently I don't see any for less than $120. In light of Step's new info (that you can get Drains for less, if you wait), though, I'd be inclined to say that if you want a Drain for EDH, get the Drain. If you're building Modern Affinity, go with the Opals.
I'd still, personally, take the Drain, but that's just me.

I would go pile B. Intuition has opposed the trend of old cards getting more valuable which tells me it has been getting weaker over time and has been replaced by other cards that can do the same thing but better.

Not close in my opinion. People have really come to realize how rare Alpha cards are in the past 8 years. I have to also add this; I am so jelly.

How times change.
There was a time when Beta actually held a premium over Alpha.
The reason was that even though Alpha was the first set of Magic, Beta was the first set to feature the modern magic card shape today.
So beta was in a sense seen as the first "real" set of magic.
Let's go back 21 years: the year is 1994. There's literally 4 expansions of magic. Arabian Nights, Legends, Antiquities, and The Dark.
Revised Packs are plentiful. Shivan Dragon is $20, Royal Assassin is $16, and Dual lands (sometimes called Multi-lands) were $2-3 a piece. Paying $5 for Underground Sea was a ripoff.
There is no such thing as "Vintage" or even Legacy. "The stack" doesn't yet exist in magic.
Black Lotus is $60, moxes are $30, and people actually played for ante sometimes. Nobody sleeved up their cards yet.
You have $100 on you and you want to buy a black lotus. Do you pick the Alpha one that's funny cut and different from the rest of your magic cards, or do you get the Beta which is the same shape as the rest of your magic collection?
If you're like half the magic population and pre-OCD, paying extra money for a single that is different cut from the rest of your collection is the last thing you would want.
You pick the Beta Lotus.
