Interesting this topic went up since I randomly bought a playset for under $5 at a hole in the wall flea market out of state i was at today.
I'm wondering what others think about the long term value as i debate to flip them and make 50x profit on each or just hold them for another year or so since it's Legends cards we're talking and i'm in no rush to make the money. I know they're not exactly planning to go down, but i'm wondering how long I may have to hold these to expect them to reach Mana Drain...or even Moat prices?
Why can't I get finds like this
It seems like the price is rising as we speak, so I'd hold onto it for at least a little while. I wouldn't part with it unless you really need the money or you already have a playset, I really don't see any reason in flipping it now.
2. Yes, they will increase in value. There's already been a promo Wasteland, so it's unlikely we'll get another one. Any effect the promo would have had in its price has long since dissapated.
There have actually been 2 promo Wastelands already.

And given what stores are charging, it seems more worth it to buy the promo versions that are mostly $10-20 more in each case than the actual card itself, better long term and pimp value!
depends on which foil. I think the original one looks better and is more "pimp" Anything Judge foiled sorta sucks and will never hold the actual value.
I have a 2nd playset of Wasteland I want to sell for to a friend but since a lot of legacy staples have been fluctuating madly we can't really come to a price.
-3 of them are EX+/NM (I've seen EX+ in better condition and NM in worse condition)
-1 of them is EX
Normally I don't ask this stuff but we really can't figure out a price. To put it in context, my personal 'comic-book guy' who I trust said $35 each, and then that night another guy who i trust said $60 each. So I'm just a little weary on deciding the price :/
EDIT: They are regular tempest

NM is 50-55 right now at the high, sometimes even 60. I would say 45 is quite fair and reasonable given the price spike and their condition.

A couple of people have mentioned abolishing the reserved list. Is that even, legally speaking a legal option? For people who have invested a ton of money in legacy staples, for more to suddenly just pop into existence, their investment would be damaged. As a player lacking many staples, I certainly wouldn't mind, I'm just wondering the rationale behind the reserved list.

I believe the reserved list was instituted to keep collectiors from losing too much money if a card gets reprinted. That being said, Wizards can do what they want. If they wanted to abolish the reserved list and print revised dual lands in mass produced precons, there's nothing anyone can do about it.

I'm pretty sure the only way the list gets axed is if WotC see's nomore further purpose in their #1 selling product monster, meaning "when" that day comes and that ultimate core set is released reprinting every chase card known to a mage...they will be long gone with their pockets stuffed from all the product sales without regret.
The list currently holds for mainly standard reasons to note, WoTc has already stated they "will" and "can" reprint any MTG card that currently doesn't have a foil stock if they want in via a "non" standard legal reprint, that info can be found on google.

Wizards allready closed that loophole in their policy. No tournament legal versions of any kind now may be printed of any card currently on the reserved list. Feel free to check out the most updated version of the list that can be found on wizards site.
Yeah, Mox Diamond caused a bit of an uproar there.
I just want a shiny Tropical Island, is that too much to ask???

why would they have to be banned? They constantly print "fixed" versions of cards, both for better and for worse. The one thing the reserved list does prevent is functionally identical reprint (meaning essentially just changing a card's name) but they can make new cards with whatever restrictions they want.
tl;dr the original duals didn't get banned once Ravnica came out, did they?

i think the point being made was that the original dual lands would still be completely different games better than the watered down versions, meaning the classic copies would need to be banned to make the new ones even remotely feasible as alternatives.
this would also create a new and increased demand for a new product to fill the void.

Dual Lands, but you take only 1 damage rather than the 2 like the Ravnica ones.
Or something identical to FoW, but it takes one more colorless to hard cast.
tl;dr the original duals didn't get banned once Ravnica came out, did they?

Buy from me on TCGPlayer::Twitter::Flickr
Then the originals are still better and demanded.
Wizards has joked about making "Snow-Covered Duals" but feel like that's a cheat.
FOW is not on reserved list and could be reprinted.
