I'd say sell. Your explanation makes sense but I feel like the release of the FTV will drop the price on karakas. In the long term, yes it'll keep going up but that FTV realms will be opened and most people will immediately dump the karakas if they do not play it in legacy (since it has almost no other use, not modern/standard/edh/etc). Is it a hot casual card? I know berserk is LOVED by casual people so that's not as great of a comparison really.
A quick correction, Karakas is an uncommon, not a common. I'm selling right now at $50 (since the rule of the thread is that you have to choose a side) but immediately upon finding out that Karakas is NOT in FTV Realms, I'd switch to buying. Regardless though, buying is still a fine option because, like you mentioned, long-term the value will certainly hold and/or go up.
And just keep in mind, despite the rampant speculation of Karakas being included in FTV, it's far from a sure thing.
buy or sell zendikar lands @ .50cents each. i have a chance to buy a few hundred of them and hoping that these will go up in price over the next few years like unhinged lands did

I'll buy the Zendikar basics for $0.50 - just wait a little bit you can double your money down the road. And to follow up to the previous posts now that FTV is spoiled, absolutely buy Karakas at $50. It's been selling upwards of $60 (English version) on eBay.

Ponder - yes. It's about to rotate, it's banned in modern, and everybody who wants it for legacy use (which isn't that many people) already have it. It has had multiple printings as well.
Cavern - yes and no. While it is currently higher than $20 retail i would only buy it if I planned on flipping them for say $25, but even that isn't enough profit for me to want to put the time and money into doing so. If you're buying them to use them however and don't ever plan to sell I could see picking them up at $20 as I think this card won't go lower than $15 in the long term. So is a $5 per card loss acceptable to you if you are getting use out of them? I'd suspect it is.

Thank you WOTC for introducing the Modern format, a format where all the whiners can enjoy a level playing field and where they can play with none of the best cards of all time!

Ok, that's pretty much what I thought too. I just wasn't sure about letting my ponders go so cheaply. Even though half of them were obtained by ppl leaving them on the table after drafts.
Basically I traded in a huge stack of ponders that I had for store credit at my LGS to pick up a cavern for my maverick deck.
Seemed ok at the time but I was wondering if I should have tried to squeeze more value out of the ponders.
I'm selling Cavern at $20. (Literally, I am working on selling three of them at that price right now.) The card's utility is directly proportional to the utility of counterspells in Standard, and I just don't see Essence Scatter being heavily played. It's also a rare in a set that has numerous high-value mythics, so there's going to be plenty of them out there. It won't go down too far, though, since it's the best mana-fixing for any sort of tribal aggro deck, and Bant Spirits and Naya Humans were both solid in block. I just don't think it stays at $20.
Of course, this goes out the window if Modern staples such as Remand, Spell Snare, etc. get reprinted in RTR.
The card has a lot of casual appeal, though, so I would buy at $10 in a year or two. Casual players love tribal decks and hate their spells getting countered, so it'll always be worth something.

Buy or Sell: Liliana of the Dark Realms at $15?
I'm buying. I think she could be a very important engine in some sort of 5C Black control deck if Shocks are reprinted.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.

I don't play Standard, so take this with a grain of salt, but I'd sell LotDR because honestly I think it's crap. It just doesn't feel playable at all to me and if Liliana of the Veil is only $15 as a Standard-legal card, then Dark Realms has nowhere to go but down. And I think the 5-color black control idea is just really reaching in trying to predict what a new Standard will be like after the release of a set we know nothing about. So I'm selling all the way.
With a pending reprint in the upcoming commander arsenal, would you buy or sell Maze of Ith at $25 right now?
Maze is confirmed for FTV: Realms as of yesterday. The new art is beautiful too. In any case, I'm probably still buying at $25. Maze is going from between $25-$35 on eBay, and though FTV will likely lower the value a little, at $25 it's still a solid long-term buy given the card's notoriety and popularity in multiple formats.
Survey says: sell! SnT is slower than decks like Storm Combo, easier to interact with than Dredge, and is not great against the FoW decks. It's really an anti-Maverick deck, and I really find that Show and Tell's price is about ready to flatline. I'm just not seeing the upside at $50. I'd say sell here, or at least, don't buy. I think the price is poised for a retreat back to the $40 range, where I'd be a lot more comfortable about buying in.
It's also not on the Reserve List, and while WotC would be foolish to reprint it in an expansion set, there's always the possibility of a EDH reprint or some such.

I agree on the sell at $50 but the most likely reprint for SnT would be as a judge or GP promo, not in a commander product or duel deck.

Yup. As long as something doesn't get the axe to drop Sneak and Show's massive popularity a judge promo is inevitable.
They are also very solid $50 cards and have been for a few months. I can't recall if stores are able to keep them in stock or not but I know locally and on eBay they move hands fast at that price. I have a few sets still and am not worried about losing value at all (at least until banning season comes around again).

$0.50 each is a reasonable buy price, but if you're buying in bulk, you should haggle it to maybe $0.30-$0.40 each.
