Would you guys recommend buying the new Nissa? Here's the situation: I play Abzan Control in Standard and this card seems to be effective, but the current Standard is only viable for another 3 months and then we have rotation. Do you see Nissa being a good bet to remain strong after rotation, once Courser of Kruphix leaves the format? This is kind of a different question because I'm hedging the cost of the card versus its impact on the strength of my deck, not against its ability to retain value. I wouldn't be able to justify dumping $50 on two of them just to have the deck better for 3 months, I would want to know this is something that's going to stay useful after rotation. That is, unless it is so vital to the deck that it's likely to make the difference between winning or not winning $$$ at the handful of large Standard tournaments before rotation. I kinda wish I could post this question in the dedicated thread for Abzan Standard where the experts on the deck post, but the rules are pretty strict there about not considering costs of cards in decks.

So, you're asking us whether Nissa will remain strong post-M15/THS rotation. I can tell you that her price is still a bit bolstered by low supply - she will cool from here. That's the danger of buying into Standard so quickly - it takes a few months for cards to settle. Few people have opened her (the set's been street legal for what, ten days?), so she's enjoying that premium.
How she'll fare in three months is anyone's guess. We've got no clue what BFZ will bring. Speculation is that there will be a land-matters theme, so she may work well with a mechanic there, but I should really emphasize that it is pure speculation at this point.
If you're going to play in a lot of Standard events between now and September, go ahead and pick her up. The guys in that other thread said so

If you're a high budget player that likes to have maximum fun with all the news cards then yes go for it. There are a few guys like this at my LGS and more power to them.
For 90% of players though buying into new cards at the highest price is a bad move. Standard isn't cheap and it isn't supposed to be cheap but you're not going to save money predicting which $30 card might jump to $32 for 2 months.
I'm holding onto my foil evolutionary leaps. It's pretty good in standard, but if that fails, there's always EDH. Some people call it a budget Survival of the Fittest, but an abusable sac engine is its own thing and has its own niche in decks like Prossh where it's probably bonkers in. Recurring Nightmare and Survival are beset buds, but when you throw this card into the mix, something magical happens.
I would keep them. Flame Javelins variants always see standard play. Stoke the Flames was a money card all the way through it's standard life and there is no reason to think this Flame Javelin variant will not rise to similar values. That being said chances are good that Origins will be opened a ton more than M15 but that should be off set by EF being a rare.

People are really underestimating that cards potential. It only takes one big finish for it to blow up. The power is there waiting to be abused.
I would like to buy the rest of the Ugin's Fate Promo cards I do not own for collectible reasons. With the exception of Ugin himself, there's no reason for me to buy them until after Fate rotates out of standard, right? I'm in no hurry here.

Nope wrong. Supply can only get thinner as those with the resources to buy them scoop them up and those that don't need to sell them for the cash keep them. Then it becomes harder and harder to get them in mint condition.
If you want one get it now.
It is played in modern and it's an EDH/casual superstar.

None of the Ugin's Fate cards except Ugin himself are played too much in Standard, although Ghostfire Blade is seeing some play now, and Mastery of the Unseen was for a while.
With promo cards like this, you're fishing in a pond with an ever-dwindling supply. There are lots of commons and uncommons available, I wouldn't worry too much about those, but you really want to lock down your rares ASAP. Aether says it pretty well - you're competing with collectors, and every time one of them buys one, it's removed from the market forever. I'm probably never going to trade my copies away, and once you finish your set, neither will you.
As far as Ugin himself, yes he is played in Standard, but Standard in no way influences his price point. That's due to rarity alone, so figure out what you want to pay, add 10%, and go watch various sites until you can get one for that amount.

At what price?
How many do you have?
Do you have any plans to play Dredge?
But mostly at what price?
Whatever I could get from ebay, which currently looks like $7.49
2
Small chance
Also, how about a playset of assorted Tron lands? What price would be a good selling point for them?
Sure, finishing your playset of a solid card at eBay prices seems like a good thing. I would buy.
WB Tron or BB Tron? AQ Tron, I'd say $45 is pretty reasonable. Foils are getting pricey, and are significantly worse - I'd expect that if you're selling a foiled Tron, you could easily ask ten times that - yes, that's $450, not a typo.
WB Tron, I'd be surprised to get $15 for.

Okay thanks. And as for the tron pieces, most are WB, but a couple are BB. They are from assorted sets.
I've been sitting on a few Simian Spirit Guides and watching the price like a hawk.
It now looks to be leveling off just below $5. Is now the time to sell, or is Guide potentially going to poke its nose above $5 and take off again?
If it gets reprinted it will tank real hard. Look at what happened Smash to Smithereens If I can get 5 bucks for a modern common I'd jump on that.
I agree. The tough part is actually finding someone to pay nearly $5 per.

Seems like ebay has a bunch of simian spirit guides that sold recently in the 2.50$-3.50$ range so I'd have to agree that finding someone to give 5$ cash might be a bit rough. Although i think you'd have an easier time trading them at tcg mid (4.90 is current tcg mid price).
You guys think it's worth that? I'm trying to get the pimpest version of any card for my deck and I don't see myself finding a foil russian canopy anytime soon and a local shop managed to pick this up. Considering english foils have stabilized around $185 I think it's pretty good but wanted to hear other people's opinion on it.
Stuff like that doesn't come up very frequently, so I'd say go for it. Your goal is to get one, and this is a rare opportunity. As we've seen with fetches, original printing foils don't tend to go down with a reprint, so you don't really have much to lose.
Also, holy expletive deleted, Batman. English foils are $185?!?!?

I`ve got some Cryptic Commands I don`t need, two Lorwyn and one MMA. Are they likely to climb back up, or have they stabilized at a low 30? I bought them at 50-60, so it`d sting a bit to sell them now.

The card may creep up again over time, but it could also see another Modern Masters reprint in the near future. If they keep Modern Masters as every two years (and I'd expect to see the card again in the next Modern Masters), this time next year Cryptic will probably be approaching $50-60 again. If they switch Modern Masters to every year (which there's not currently any evidence of them planning to do, but it doesn't seem outside of the realm of possibility), then it will likely stay $30 or creep further downwards. In such a case, your best time to sell would likely be in the coming weeks (as we approach GP Oklahoma City, the next major Modern Event, or immediately after if it has a good showing) or in November (GP Pittsburgh).
