Alright. I need advice on whether or not I should trade staples from specific Legacy decks to help finish my Elves and Death and Taxes decks (which require 3 Karakas and 3 Bayous). So I use to play Reanimator, but I never was able to get Underground Seas. It was morphed into OmniTell for budget reasons and have found it to be more powerful and more fun. Although with all the good times with Reanimator (even with Watery Graves), I don't know if I should sell them to fund finishing my other decks. Key cards that would be sold include:
4 Griselbrand
4 Reanimate
4 Entomb
1 Elesh Norn, Grand Coenobite
1 Iona, Shield of Emeria
What does the community think? Are these considered staples to keep a hold of?
Playing competitive Magic with 1/2 decks is no fun. I'd be willing to take a small loss if I could finish a complete Elves or D&T deck.
Griselbrand isn't seeing too much play and with the GP Promo I don't see it rising anytime soon. Elesh Norn and Ionia just got reprinted in MM2015. Entomb and Reanimate should hold value and slightly go up over time. I think I'd move these now, especially if your looking to play in tournaments.
these both seem like good prices for modern staples that will only go up once more people get into the format? Or can I wait till after GP Vegas and get them cheaper?
Those are bad prices for cards that are being reprinted as rare in two days. Wait.

You missed the boat on Iona and Elesh Norn, and probably Griselbrand as well. Cheap copies are hitting the market soon, so people will be waiting for them. Entomb, maybe, but now you're only selling one (key) card from the deck. For the reduced flexibility, it's not worth it, in my opinion.

Hold or sell goryo's vengeance now? Is this increase just a fluke buy out or are we in for the long haul on the increase?
Also hold or sell serum visions?
I would sell Serum Visions now (I don't sell stuff, but I've moved copies to my trade binder). A reprint in a random supplemental product (Commander 2015, for example) will crash the price.

I'm getting out of constructed, probably for a long time, and looking to sell my standard-legal cards. Specifically, I'm looking to sell the ones that I expect will plummet whenever they rotate out of standard. By and large, it's easy to identify these cards, but I do have some that I'm on the fence about. Would you mind offering input to help get me off the fence? For sake of setting a baseline, let's say that I would want to sell a card that would drop by 50% or more after it rotates out of standard. If the card would hold value for any reason (modern, commander, etc), then I'm okay keeping it. Basically, I'm trying not to leave money on the table.
Sell (drop more than 50%) or Hold (drop less than 50%)?

Thanks, guys. I'll keep the Collected Companys, Dromoka's Commands, Kolaghan's Commands, Rhinos, and Tasigur.
Is Commander enough to warrant keeping the dragonlords?
I also agree with those cards. I do think that Kologhan's Command is pretty high right now and I would sell the foil copy.
I doubt Commander is enough to keep the Dragonlords. They're high right now because there are at least 4 different flavors of Dragon decks in Standard right now.

Good to know! The dragonlords will go in the sell pile.
Buy or sell mana confluence at 8$?
Buy or sell haven of the spirit Dragon at 3.50$
I would probably sell Mana Confluence. It's not amazing in eternal formats, and a reprint will absolutely kill the price.
Haven is probably a hold for now - Dragons and Ugin will be things in Standard for another year. No reason to ditch it until they're gone.

That doesn't actually sound amazing to me. Sure, it's a good price, but it's the beginning of the year. I bet that these will be $15 by November.

If the stores are paying little for the new MM15 cards it means they're inundated with people trying to sell those cards to them.

tasigur is a legendary creature but it sees a lot of play in grixis....much needed card in jund and grixis moderns
possibly blue black control in the future of standard
