100% sell. I can't see a rare that is not Snapcaster keeping a $20 value for long. Just one man's opinion. Multicolor nature and inability to target the cards you actually need to remove will keep this down. Look at the lists people are brewing: what is this doing for you against Angel of Serenity and Thragtusk?
In summation.....Star Trek wins a prolonged naval battle against superior, yet less technologically advanced, numbers, with Picard leading the assault, while Kirk takes your soul by laying out Solo and probably his manservant Chewy as well, before impregnating and ditching your Princess.
So much product will be opened via boxes and drafting that even if abrupt decays fits into a T1 deck the price will drop in a couple months due to supply.
I believe they will drop...a ton. Sell them ASAP or trade them for stuff that will hold value. I predict all RTR rares and mythics (the ones that are high priced) to drop in the future.

Yep. Same here. It's just a rare. There's no way there will be multiple rares in a large fall set holding 10+, let alone 20.
Honestly, at $20 or even $18 per, I would sell. Im still debating on what Im going to price mine at, as while the card is REALLY good, the massive supply of the market I dont think will allow it to remain that high. I guess we'll have to see, but Id say ship em, and happily take your money :).
Going to throw another vote in the ring for selling. Some people on here have sold them for $14 already, so anywhere above that seems good. I'm banking on a price drop on these over time, I have no bought into them, even when the presale prices were 14-15.

People are talking about a rare staying at $20, but have you all forgotten CoS?
But I agree, sell, sell, sell. RtR is being massively opened and for an entire year at that, so the market will get flooded come Friday. If you have a foil, keep that.
Do you guys feel the same about overgrown tomb? I got 2 last weekend from my sealed pack and from prize packs. I wanted to put together a set of 4 of all 5, so it it worth it to hold on to something I know will fall by a bit? How much do you expect the tomb to fall? I am thinking around $10.

I traded mine off at the pre. With the amount of RtR that's going to be opened and it being a rare and not a mythic, I don't see it being more than a $12 card. Same for Overgrown Tomb.
I'd say, trade them for Cavern of Souls while you can. Some stores have Abrupt Decay and Cavern of Souls at $25 each. Not to mention that stores are buying Abrupt Decay for $10 and Cavern of Souls for $15.
Where does this card stand right now? It is slowly decreasing in price at MCM (from 15 to 13 over a week's course or something), but it's still unbelievably expensive
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
People just really overestimated this card. The power level is certainly there but it's well balanced and is not the next maelstrom pulse. It only hits nonland permanents with CC 3 or less. Given it has a 2CC enemy colors casting cost... you're not always going to be able to cast it T2. And late game its subpar because it whiffs on most of their bombs. Chances are you're better off running dreadbore or some other forms of removal.
To answer the value question though. I think it might slide down to $5 but I don't see it going lower than that.
More important than power level is:
Rare in a set that's highly openned.
Very specific decks will be running it.
Hasn't been used widely in standard or modern (yet).
If it becomes popular you'll see a price jump but as things stand it doesn't justify it's price even at 8.
This card would've been an absolute gem in the last standard meta but right now were seeing a ton of planeswalkers and high CMC creatures. I think people will start to appreciate decay in the format when we see a real tempo deck emerge, perhaps in gatecrash. I wouldn't count on it dropping much, its too good in other formats, and once standard speeds up it'll be good there too.
Anyone that compares abrupt decay to CoS has no idea what they're talking about. CoS is a rare that's played in every format and can fit in almost any deck. It's strong in both competitive and casual play. Abrupt decay is... something that doesn't even replace maelstrom pulse. It gets rid of counterbalance and some other minor things. It doesn't fit in the vast majority of decks, and is a color combination that is hardly used. CoS will always be +$15, but abrupt decay will drop like a rock. My bet is that it'll be at ~$7 before it rotates.

I'm running more Abrupt Decays in Modern Jund. I agree that it's not a $15 card, but I think $7-9 is not unrealistic. COS is certainly worth more in the long run. I'm working on getting my 3rd playset soon through trades, hopefully.

CoS?
Cavern of Souls was the card he was referencing.
