Both will hold value, but I'd rather bet on Bonfire than Geist. Get enough cash and it shouldn't matter ($20?)

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
I'm of the opposite opinion - Geist looks to be bonkers post-rotation, and Bonfire seems somewhat weak without decent library manipulation like Ponder to set it up, and when you can hardcast it, Mizzium Mortars just seems better.

Geist > Bonfire right now. I really think Azorious will be very strong, or possibly even a Bant list. Bonfire will be less influential I feel.

Geist has proven itself in eternal formats and will hold some value when it rotates out of Standard. Bonfire is peaking and really can't conceivably get much higher, making it an opportune time to unload.
Also, if long-term value is a consideration for you, it's worth noting that Geist sees play in Legacy and Modern, where Bonfire currently sees little to none.
I would try for Geists + $75 for the Bonfires. I would definitely do it if I could get $70-$80 plus the Geists. I think Geist is positioned better post-rotation than Bonfire.
In summation.....Star Trek wins a prolonged naval battle against superior, yet less technologically advanced, numbers, with Picard leading the assault, while Kirk takes your soul by laying out Solo and probably his manservant Chewy as well, before impregnating and ditching your Princess.
GoST is a good long-term purchase, but I think most people are overreacting here. Mizzium Mortars is not going to replace Bonfire. In fact, there are less substitutes for Bonfire of the Damned the coming season, since red players lose Whipflare and Slagstorm. It's still the best red sweeper for aggro/midrange decks, and for those decks that can't affor to pay RRR for a spell. I can't see Bonfire plummeting, maybe slowly decreasing though. get the cards you need most.
I agree... if you're not a R player, there isn't a better time to trade them. However if you like to play decks that would use this effect, maybe trade away 1-2 of them and keep a couple for personal use.
I do think GOST will be nutty this year and could end up rising in price.

At this point in their standard life-cycles, Jace was in the high $50 and goyf was somewhere around $25. Unless red starts seeing less play, or a hoser is printed there is no reason for bonefire's price to go down.
As for as the OP is concerned, as pointed out, the hate for geist is rotating, in addition he interacts well with some of the new cards. But delver is taking a hit too and lots of hate coming for it, so the it depends if you think there will be an aggressive U/W deck that comes out the new standard.
A 40 dollar mythic rare would constitute a must have 4 of that goes in many decks.
Stats About Mythics
-Mythics are on average 40% rarer than pre-mythic rares
(old blocks about 200 rares, Mythic blocks 35+ mythics)
-They are printing more new cards a year not less
(about 665 now vs. 630 in most pre-mythic block)
-To drop the value of a rare by $1 a mythic must go up $2
-In a 3 year time span deck prices doubled. I am petitioning for the removal of mythic rarity. Sig this to join the cause.

At the same time, however, BBE was keeping JTMS in check and was about to rotate, while I see no cards that are preventing Bonfire from taking over that are rotating anytime soon (maybe Mana Leak if you really want to stretch it). Also, it's not a card from a small set that has drafted for only three months as 1x due to being large-small-large block (one could make a case for Falkenrath Aristocrat or Huntmaster as being breakout cards, but that's for another thread). What I have not consistently seen is Bonfire being forced in every R/x deck as a 4-of, and decks being built solely to abuse said card. Unless something changes such that there are 32 copies of it in SCG Standard top 8's, it will not go above the $35-40 range that it has stabilized in, and has nowhere to go but down.
I don't know if there will be an "aggressive" U/W deck, but there will certainly be a midrange shell with cards like Azorius Charm, Rootborn Defenses, and Geist of Saint Traft all playing extremely well together.

Would u guys do $130 in trade for 4 mint bonfires? Id like to get more but out of all the LGS thats the most that was offered. Of course that shop has duals and legacy staples so i could put that credit to good use. Its just hard for me to get rid of my bonfires even though i only paid $40 for my playset right after they came out and thats a decent profit, bonfire is a good card that i will probably use throught standard

4 Bonfires for a blue dual and probably a little extra something? Done and done. In a month you won't be able to get a Taiga for the whole set. Bonfire is insane in a meta that is 90% creature mirrors but that meta is over.

I agree, the upcoming meta is looking like one where bonefire is a $20 mythic at best.
You guys all dont know what your talking about. Bonfire will be insane after rotation. Its not even that good in standard right now, it sucks against infect and delver. The next standard is all about creatures, and midrange decks, bonfire is going to be the nuts.
Is it worth it?

Bonfires will drop hard, none of the decks ive seen for post RTR run more then 2 bonfire, infact most dont even run it at all.
It's going to crash hard, whether this is before the last set in this block remains to be seen, but it will crash hard long term regardless.
If you don't need them, move them now and cash in.
Geist is a great card to pick up and is played in other formats
