I can probably only get one case. I'm really torn because I mostly play legacy but I'm trying to get into standard, just not sure if I really will get full value. Also I will only get one buy-a-box- promo if I buy the case.
There are a lot of legacy playable cards in this set.
no he will likely settle in around 15 Imo... Hes not strong enough to see play as a 4 of... I would not invest at 30... I really wouldnt invest in any PW at 30..
Sites I frequent have Rakdos, Lord of Riots sitting at $10 pre-order. I have to imagine that like almost every other card he'll fall once he floods the market a bit, but what do people think of this price relative to his longterm value?

Anyone else think Abrupt Decay could end up being one of the most valuable cards in this set? It seems like an absolute beast in Modern and Legacy, and definitely playable in standard. On TCG player it went from $13 or so to $20 recently.

I do see this dropping though. RTR will be a huge set and we'll see plenty of copies flying around, esp at rare. It might be a staple and might be great utility, but not every deck will want 3-4 of it, unlike Snapcaster. $8-12 yes, $20-25... nope.

Being black and green hold the price back a little I think. Agreed about it not being snapcaster price range.
Plains - John Avon - 230
Island - Jung Park - 235
Island - Vincent Proce - 237
Swamp - John Avon - 238
Mountain - John Avon - 242
Forest - John Avon - 246
Read Craig Wescoe's financial value of RTR article today. His number one pick for potential upswing is Niv Mizzet Dracogenius. It is currently $6.5 and he sees it doubling within three months. I agree with his viewpoint as it is a fair Titan and the best finisher in the format. Also in today article Gerry T talked about Niv Mizzet and pretty much included him in every control deck he had brewed.

He seems to have missed that Jace started very low, but has rebounded big, though.

He also missed that Trostani actually started around 4, bottomed out to 2~3 quickly, then spiked to 7+ very recently. Based on his projects, of a long term value of 5 for Trostani, that is still a profit of 2 ea if you caught the boat early on.

Current post- Grand Prix KC Modern Postmortem (7/7/13)
- H. L. Mencken
French Duel Commander
WBR Kaalia of the Vast WBR
RUG Maelstrom Wanderer RUG
R.I.P. Sundering Titan (6/20/12) and Braids, Cabal Minion (9/12/14)
He'll probably be worth $2.
He was down to $18 at one point. I bought 3 @ $25 day after he was spoiled because I did NOT expect people to be that dumb about pricing this card.

Mythics: $8.5/mythic x 4.5 mythics/box = $38
Rares: $2.65/rare x 31.5 rares/box = $94
Uncommon/common sets: $9 x 1.8/box = $16
Foils: $6
Overall average box value currently: $154
Ignoring Uncommons/commons/foils: $132/box
Crazy.
It wont likely last, but at least for now, those are simply insane numbers.

With 80 uncommons in Return to Ravnica, one only gets 1.35 sets per box now.
I think people realize it's a powerful effect, and printed on a mythic.
Which is also why people are gaining interest in Trostani... Obviously playing Wurm when controlling him is quite ridiculous.
Ah! Thanks for the correction. so yeah, that would lower it by about $4 then :).

I think when he wrote the article Jace has already rebounded. Also at its current price, I think Jace is being overvalued. It's not that good.
