Nothing spoiled so far plays well with Lilly. I don't see her going up.
Outside of dual lands. Those are playing well with her. I don't think she'll fit into a multi-color deck all that well though. If you have green, you'd already have farseek and birds.
I'd call her a hold at 15-17 given what we've seen so far. Would not alter or speculate on her based on what we've seen so far.
Agreed. If I speculated on anything based on blacks support it'd be Liliana of the Veil, not of the dark realms, and even then I'm not pulling that trigger yet. It's hard to see a lot of bang for your buck on $20 cards. It's better to go for the other role players in the deck (like bloodgift for example) if you think that is going to be a real thing. Too early to tell in my book.
I personally think underworld connections is a junk rare. Most auras end up there. I agree that cyclonic rift is really good. It does serious work in either mode. It will replace vapor snag to a degree and has awesome late game potential.
No one else likes Jarad's Orders? Double tutor seems really good to me. Dump a scavenge guy, a Gravecrawler, or an Unburial Rites target in the yard and the card you need in your hand?
In summation.....Star Trek wins a prolonged naval battle against superior, yet less technologically advanced, numbers, with Picard leading the assault, while Kirk takes your soul by laying out Solo and probably his manservant Chewy as well, before impregnating and ditching your Princess.
With all the non-basics around we might get something like Tectonic Edge though (or maybe I'm just hopeful.) I don't see Underworld Connections being worth too much. For 2 more mana you get a Bloodgift Demon instead.
I just saw from a thread in magic general about $120 boxes (pre-orders), that according to one store that we hear from on here often enough, that RTR is being heavily allocated, which typically is a sign that there could very well be a shortage, or at least the appearance of one, which isnt a good thing. If there is a shortage and we end up with a situation like we had with Zendikar or m10, we could see box prices go even higher by the time the set is released, and we could see singles simply stay high, due to the inability to simply open as much as you want to get enough singles in the market to meet demand. Thats not to say that an insane amount of this set isnt going to get openned, its simply that a shortage would inevitably lead to those things. Im hoping that wizards planned ahead at least somewhat for the huge demand for RTR and has a second print run allready in the works to make sure there isnt an issue, or at the very least if there is, that its a very short period of shortage. We'll have to see I guess, but that could be something that could keep some of these pre-sales prices a little higher for longer than normal until supply equalizes and prices are able to settle more regularly.

It's a solid role player for Frites.

Innistrad had a period like this for a few weeks, didn't it?
Its certainly possible, Its been a heck of a year though so I honestly dont remember :p.
I remember having $65 Lilianas for about 2-3 weeks before the second wave of boxes hit and the prices started to normalize as supply flooded the market.
My LGS is offering preorders of boxes for 86 dollars. Should I do this, if so how many should I get? I can't decide if it's better to preorder boxes or just preorder sets of shocklands as I will definitely need those sooner or later.

Which brings me to state that Underworld Connections will be good in B/x aggro strategies, er, I mean Zombies. But then we know how that sometimes goes. Here's looking at you Killing Wave!

I would definitely buy a case. Open them and then sell as quickly as possible. You should make back most of your money while basically, get all the uncommon/common for free!

And opening packs is fun!!!
I agree. $86 is an amazing price for any box, not just this set. Most boxes are at least $89, if not more from the time they are first available for pre-release til they are out officially. Buy what you can afford and capitalize so you can get what lands/rares/etc. you really want from the set.
I went ahead and ordered 4 boxes for 344. Seems like a lot, hope it's worth it. I didn't ask when I paid, but will I get buy-a-box promos for these boxes? I am not familiar with how that program works.

Buy a Box promos is maximum 1 per order at a brick and mortar shop as far as I know. If you ordered 4 boxes you should get 1 promo. If you ordered online you wont get one.

you won't unless they say you do. Its technically not distributed to online stores though I do know some online stores give them out.
If its a brick and mortar store typically they do one per customer with some exceptions. Its not strictly handled by some wotc policy or anything so we can't tell you without knowing where you ordered them.
my pics of the stuff spoiled so far. keep in mind how much this set will get opened for shocks and i think this will depress the prices over time on the rares.....the ones that arent also legacy worthy
no particular order
angel of serenity its pretty cool...possibly majorly abuseable. between edh and angel collectors and casual....i see 6-8
cyclonic rift - utility card....probably not more than 2 or 3 bucks though
jace pooooo - 0
abrupt decay solid multi format card.......15
corpsejack menace 4/4 for 4 doubling season on legs.....casual and edh fave.....5-6
detention sphere - o ring sucks.....gross blue white control addition that you will play if u are in these olours - 3 - 4
dreadbore terminate on steroids...limited use, bad colours....helps legacy goblins i guess - 5 bucks cause timmy hates planeswalkers
jarards orders its a tutor 3 - 5
jarad golgari lich lord - hes solid hes timmy bomb hes a legend....8-10
vraska te unseen - if it finds use.........right now i say 10 bucks for casual/edh
wayfering temple- if green white tokens becomes feasible.......whoa this thing could kick ass
shock lands staple again....they were rediculous expensive when standard legal, brutal overpriced on modern speculation....who knows. think 10 bucks now is fair...see them staying round there and 15 for blue
rest is kinda meh. best card is abrupt decay for sure
According to your predictions the box value would be about 130$ just with the cards you mentioned. Considering there are plenty of cards to be spoiled yet, no. Not really.
His predictions are fine; your math is not. Unless something drastically different presents itself about this set, there is guaranteed over 100 rares and another 15 mythics. In the week of release roughly 20% of the rares and 70-85% of the mythics are worth more than the pack itself. You'll need roughly 120 boosters to perform a perfect run (one of each rare and foil - assuming the 15 mythic count holds true or RTR). Because of the size of this set, the rare count will likely be higher than 105, however. So after your 120 boosters, yes, you'll have all your money cards. In 36 boosters though, it's extremely unlikely. On average you'll see 7 rares and 3 mythics that are worth more than $4.
And besides, $130 is probably on the low end of what a RTR box will be with given how good the commons and uncommons are in this set. I predict this will be one of the highest per-box values of all time. I am really looking forward to Jeff's first update once the RTR thread is up and going.

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.

Where are you getting the over 100 rares/15 mythics number from? Innistrad, the last 274 card set, had 65 rares and 15 mythics. I can't see RtR being much off from this number, maybe as high as 70 rares but I'd put my money on it being around 65 again.

Look at my name...what did you expect?
Thank you WOTC for introducing the Modern format, a format where all the whiners can enjoy a level playing field and where they can play with none of the best cards of all time!

Hah, yeah looks like I forgot to reread my edits. As much as a set with 1XX rares would be cool, obviously that's not happening here

I doubt $130 will be a realistic low end, but I do agree that RTR has immense potential to be worth considerably more than previous sets have been.

Let us never go back to those days lol opening 3 boxes to get a particular rare? No thanks!:)

It is/will. Rough math shows large distributors (paying < $80 per box) are/will be getting close to 100% return from pre-orders (before minor fees such as eBay/shipping miscellaneous). That is HUGE. But, no, doubt it will last long. So enjoy it now especially those struggling!
It's the perfect storm of an amazing set, pre-order "craziness" and supply dwindling so fast.
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.

The reason auras are considered high risk and thus shunned is the ability to kill in resp and get 2 for 1'd, which doesn't exist on connections.
