It's entirely standard. For grinders, i'd advise picking up a few but not going crazy. The joy of this card is it's a $3 card but i've seen even the more savvy traders overlook it and trade them below $1, so it's worth engaging for a playset or two. They could easily drop back down to that price though so don't sit on them long.
Sorry for the lengthy delay in an update, Ive been wicked busy lately between my ebay and brick and mortar store sales, but better late than never I always say :).
As always my prices are determined by ebay completed listings, the low end of ebay buy it nows, and the low end of online store prices. Enjoy!
Top rares/mythics:
Phyrexian Obliterator: $20 (For me, still hasnt moved, Im not sure Ive ever seen that before)
Sword of War and Peace: $14

Everything else is worth $1 or less.
Total value of mythics: $73
Total value of Rares: $33
Total value of uncommon/common sets: $10
Total set value: $116
Uncommons:
Dismember: $4 (4x reprint in event deck will likely cut price in 1/2, wont drop below $2 though)
Mental Misstep: $3
Beast Within: $1
Tezzeret's Gambit: $1 (Still selling like crazy, market price closer to .75)
Despise: .75
Dispatch: .75
Average Box value:
Mythics: $7.30x4.5= $32.85
Rares: .94x31.5=$29.70
Uncommon/commons: $10x1.8=$18
Foils: $6.45
Total average box value: $87 (Box value increased by $3 this update)
Average Pack Value:
$84/36= $2.42
Overall the set is showing some strong staying power. While mythics dropped some, some also went up (and of course Obliterator stayed the course and still hasnt moved an inch from its $20 price tag since the set was released, Ive never seen that to my knowledge.) Rares actually managed an increase this time around, with the couple of declines more than offset by the strong increases in spellskite, birthing pod, and blade splicer. Uncommon/common sets continued to show greater strength as dismember overtakes mental misstep as the hottest uncommon of the set (though due to the 4x reprinting in the coming event deck, the price will likely settle back down to around $2 or so, but I strongly feel it wont drop below that, the supply being added by the event decks simply isnt comparable to the supply that is currently out there, anyone hoping they will drop below $2 I think will find their estimations to be wrong, but I suppose we'll see in a few weeks.) Overall the average box value actually bucked trends and increased this time around, nothing stupendous mind you, but an increase is an increase :).
Anyhow, enjoy the info, and Ill try to do another update in a couple weeks or as time allows.
there's going to be an event deck with dismembers?
(Key: The card's most recent move is the rightmost one. This indicates the hottest mover of the update. indicates no movement. is a card that wasn't on the list last update. The data is taken from here.)
Obliterator stays on top, still worth $20 just like the day the set came out. Far behind is the Sword, moving ahead of the floundering silver golem. Batterskull continues to shrivel and cry, after such a strong start. Spellskite remains at $9 to hold the top rare spot, and shows no sign of dropping in value yet. Metamorph still looks good, while Birthing Pod gains another 3 slots this update, being played with in decks all over the place. Both Dismember and Misstep fell a bit, probably because uncommons are hit much harder than rares and mythics when MTGO redemptions hit the market.
The set continues to sell well for me which is nice after the slow start. Players are finding several good singles in NP. It feels like a well balanced set in terms of where the value is found - not 95% mythic as in most recent sets. Hopefully more sets will be like NP that way, as it seems better for almost everyone.
I hope everybody has been enjoying their summer (or winter for those in Brazil, Australia, etc)
So it's been about 10 weeks since I last commented in this thread on the Obliterator and his established home at the top spot of the NPH sellers, and here he is gathering dust at the #1 spot still. Does he have a home yet? What's keeping him so steady?
I did a quick check recently, and finally FINALLY moved phyrexian obliterator. Its still #1, where its been sitting since karn dropped below $20 not long after the set came out, but its dropped down to about $18 now. Even so, its been insanely stable. I cannot recall a time when it took 3 1/2 months for a card to finally move in value, even a small amount :p.
I too have noticed that overall the set sells amazingly well. Mythics, Rares, Uncommons, Commons, across the board strong selling.
May I request that any of the gents compiling this updates the prices for this set? :/
There was a time when the threads for the latest 3 sets or so were kept alive with lots of discussion and updated frequently and they were easily referenceable.
Risking another stern rebuke or being labeled as a complainer, I'm going to submit a last time the opinion that the move of these threads was a mistake, and we now have a whole year worth of results behind to prove it. The native residents of this part of the board don't have an use for these threads: most of them are hardcore investors that probably can tell you the moment any given card dropped $0.25. On the other hand, the casuals that only need a quick general idea how to trade that Karn they just opened lost these threads and are disencouraged from coming here by the perceived way-off-ness from the boards they frequent and -let's be perfectly honest here, the relative unfriendliness and no-nonsense businesslike style of this board.
Yes, I'm aware that technically speaking threads that deal with card prices belong to this board. But one must also be aware that human behavior often disregards "common sense" and organized patterns, and going against it simply makes everyone involved a little bit poorer.
The ability to recognize mistakes (even ones caused by well-intended and correctly formulated in theory actions) and fix them accordingly is even more important than the ability to create and enforce organized patterns.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
seems like everything is moving up for the most part in this set. Karn seems to have stabilized. A few cards got some modern love (spellskite, elesh, karn to a certain extent). But the big gainer is birthing pod. Its a player in modern and will be a huge player in standard after rotation. If they unban mental misstep in modern, mm will go up 2-4 bucks. Watch out for puresteel foiks...and noxious revivals...
I for one do apologize for not having updated my part of things as often as I once did. For me, unfortunately, Ive just been so busy keeping up with everything that I kind of put my posting updates on hold, as when I do get around to doing full repricings Im usually too busy actually listing things on ebay and keeping up on that in addition to my shop sales than to post on here.
I will promise to toss up some updates soon though. And keep in mind that I personally prefer these threads here, and my updating things or lack there of lately, has nothing to do with where it is located.
May I request that any of the gents compiling this updates the prices for this set? :/
If you're going to post just to complain, why don't you act as the proponent for the change you seek? It takes me about 10 minutes to go onto TCGPlayer and compile the top values from stores listing on there. It might take a little longer if you want to go the eBay route (either compiling the data through BLP/Apathyhouse or doing the maths yourself), but NPH is a standard-legal set, so there's generally no speculative dogpile that happens or is even possible given that there are a massive number of cards circulating, so store prices shouldn't be too far off from those you'd find on eBay.
These threads don't belong in the Rumor Mill. They are still pretty active, but the people who've by-and-large been providing regular price updates for whatever reason (or for no reason at all; it's not their job to update these threads, after all) have slowed-to-stopped updating, and with interests mostly focused on the massive price swings in Modern (and fast cooling of Legacy), coupled with the conclusion of Standard PTQs, most Standard-legal cards are not in the limelight right now. And with new sets coming out, most people are keen on speculating on their values instead of revisiting their toys in the closet (our price spec thread for INN is already up to about 10 pages; maybe it would be up to 30 if it were in Rumor Mill, but I also don't doubt at least 15 of those would be, essentially, "Wow, prices for this set are X" "Oh man that card is super broken! Would you look at that?")
As Kahalablala noted, most cards from NPH in particular have risen. Blade Splicer is up to $3 from the stagnant $1 it was at for months. Surgical Extraction, Dismember, Puresteel Paladin, and Metamorph, all non-mythic rares (and one uncommon), have rose or remained stable for the duration of the set's legality.
If jeff and/or r_e have chosen to move on (or are on vacation/break) and you want to contribute, be a source of positive change and make a contribution. Add original content instead of rehashing other people's posts or complaining about a lack of updates/new content. If you want to make these threads great, put in the effort and make them great. Don't just sit around and mope that one or two people aren't doing all of the work for you.
Thats exactly it, the information to check on the general price levels for any newer set is readily available with plenty of information on tcgplayer. Just go to tcgplayer, pick a card from the set, click on the set link from that card, and then go up to the top and choose to list by high to low, and bam, you have a general idea of what our lists would look like. Comparitively, a lot of people are paying far more attention to the new set coming out, the rotation coming up soon, and all the modern craziness than whats going on with standard prices at the moment. Im still here for sure, but I only have so much attention to give, and keeping an eye on the new set, its interactions with other cards, and all the modern stuff, is, well, a higher priority for me right now.
Okay, time to get back on track, regular updates to follow from here on:

Overall the mythics dropped some this update, outside of a couple that managed small gains (jin-gitaxias, sheoldred, vorinclex, and elesh norn). On the flip side the rares continued to rise in value, with a huge gain in Birthing pod, and solid gains in blade splicer, myr superion, phyrexian metamorph, puresteel paladin, and surgical extraction. Uncommon/common set value continues to remain solid, even with mental misstep getting some major blows from multiple bannings. Overall box value remains strong, now sitting as the best by a mile for scars block, and looks to remain strong going into the future.
Anyhow, enjoy the info, and Ill try to do another update in a couple weeks.
Not surprised about the increase in the Praetors. Seeing repeated EDH playing and it seems that the Praetors, Titans and 5 swords are practically auto includes. (Urabrask being the least devestating in EDH funnily enough)
I would expect the praetors to stabalise soon enough - they demand answers when they arrive on board.
Obliterator still up top which is funny considering the play it's getting. I would have expected it to settle below batterskull to be honest.
At first I was really surprised by obliterators stability as well but he has become a valuable lesson for myself in the strength of casual market appeal. He is a fun card that the average casual player is going to love and want to build around. That said, I bet he'll slide a little more if he doesn't see play soon (as I'm guessing some people were holding out to see the post rotation scene) but I still don't see him dropping under batterskull unless stoneforge is unbanned in modern. It's a good card but it really needs stoneforge to become amazing.
Praetors may be helped some by the hype surrounding the "Solar Flare" shell from Innistrad, where you play cards like Liliana, Forbidden Alchemy, the new flashback reanimation spell, Think Twice, and creatures like Snapcaster Mage, Phantom Image, Sun Titan, and Elesh Norn, Jin-Gitaxis, and Sheoldred.
Whether or not the strategy is successful I suppose is for this weekend and States to determine, but the ability to "PLAY WITH ALL THESE NEW CARDS~~~" is certainly a motivating factor for a lot of players come the introduction of a new set.
Birthing Pod and Obliterator have had no real movement despite seeing play in nothing too relevant (I say nothing too relevant because Pod is a deck, but is a deck in so much as White Weenie [not the token kind] is a deck). Values start to bottom out below Dismember, where several Mythics sit. Foils seem to be a big deal from this set, though.
I can see Batterskull going up when people start using it like Wurmcoil. Beast Within and Tezzeret's Gambit should reach at least 5 dollars a piece when people need them for multiple decks; while Dismember not listed at 5+ dollars on here, garners around that much in town and from other online sites.
[CARD]
Myr Superion[/CARD] is interesting if it can find a good deck, while Spellskite should move up as it provides for so much safety.
good to see a new post in this thread. beast within is in the realm of possibility, but gambit is a little harder for me to see as of this moment. I don't see any top tier decks running them at this time. Maybe infect runs them.
as for skite, i think the time to buy them was when nph was released. it could move to a 10 dollar rare. I could see that...
I really think this set in general has huge potential down the line...all of the Phyrexian mana cards (emphasis on the playable ones) are always going to be in demand, and Mythics like Batterskull, Karn, and SoWP have appeal across player demographics.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.

Overall set value continues to hold strong. And box value at $89 is impressive at this point in the set cycle. Unfortunately the large disparity between mythics and rares keeps it from seeming as impressive as it might seem. The set's box value is held up in a larger than normal amount by the uncommons. That said, thats not neccessarily a bad thing, just can be an issue when one is trying to sell/trade cards to get value back out of packs/boxes vs just dealing with good rares/mythics specifically. Overall movement hasnt been too crazy though, it certainly didnt have some of the same crazy spikes that scars and beseiged did after the rotation. Future valuations from the set should prove to be strong I imagine. Nothing like taking good cards and making them better by allowing them to be playable in any deck.
Anyhow, enjoy the update and Ill be posting them weekly from here on.

when she hits the board, she has an automatic impact on the battlefield
but more importantly, she is DISMEMBER proof
this is why I always thought Urabrask (4/4) was a bit overrated , although he is the cheapest costing of the praetors
Apostle's Blessing, Porcelain legionnaire, Suture Priest, Blighted Agent, Gitaxian Pribe, Geth's Verdict, Grim Affliction, Vault Skirge, Furnace Scamp, Slash Panther, Volt Charge, Glistener Elf, Mutagenic Growth, Mycosynth Wellspring.
