As far as I am aware most legacy players suspect this card has no place in legacy. I would sell it while it still has some value, before we know for sure that the card will see no play.
The sparkmage shrieked, calling on the rage of the storms of his youth.
To his surprise, the sky responded with a fierce energy he'd never thought to see again.
im from a country where commander precon decks are being shipped in and suddenly, (i think) they're out.
i luckily bought a couple of boxes of devour for power, and open them both.
question:
how much does an opened full set go for given the apparent lack of stock (ie what would the premium be IN PERCENTAGE IF POSSIBLE, if any over the 30 usd msrp)?
Any ideas on what the prices of the singles will be?
Particularly the commanders themselves, do you think they will sit around the $8 they look to be now, or will they drop?
What about Command Tower? Surely that may drop if only a little.
And Sol Ring, anybody have any speculation on how these will affect the Sol Ring prices?
For anyone else who didn't feel like getting gouged by randomly high prices for non-limited supply products: Wal-mart and possibly other large retail stores have them in stock now. I just picked up the two decks I wanted for 29.99 i.e. MSRP.
I'd recommend checking any local stores before paying more than the MSRP.
Keep this in mind when you're potentially buying singles. If the price of singles is nearing the price of the product you're probably better off just buying one. The only real reason I can see for buying singles is if you want just a couple of the rares for one of your own deck AND they come from different decks.

i think that it will depend on the print run.
people here where i live at have a hard time getting their hands on some decks, and if no one sells the decks, they will have to find command towers in single.
for reprints like witness and avatar of woe, im sure it will cause a price drop. as it is, some cards like ascetic have been crept in terms of the curve, and such means less demand as it was with the original supply.
and more product will mean a greater hit for their prices
and oh, shout out to RANCORED ELF, if he can make a highest tally thread hahaha
interesting to hear if canada has these en masse or is facing a shortage like we are over yonder

well, i dont live in the US and there aint no walmart here to carry these products.
the problem is (and i dont know if wotc did this intentionally) is that the commander deck is SOOOOOOOOOO overly bulky (but is mostly filled with space and, i dunno, air) so shipping these isnt exactly easy.
even the main distributor in the country is still TRYING to get more product in, but no promises. im sure further down the line they can though. but i dont know why they mentioned another commander print run. maybe the original print run is now committed to stores for delivery and none are at wotc in stock for extra orders, so they may have to find a middle man and cut into their profits or just wait it out.
^ I'm not sure actually, but from what I've always heard, Japanese print runs don't run too long. If they're going for a decent price right now, you should try and pick up a couple of the decks, I know I would.

Thanks, always good to know. So I'm assuming msrp is a decent price.
I've heard people saying different things about commander being reprinted. the guy who runs the shop told me there will only be 2 printings, others have said that they will keep printing it to meet demand. i don't know where they got their information. so my question is has wizards made an official statement about reprinting commander?

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the tyranny of magical cards.

My local game store manager said basically the same thing. He said they'd get only one more shipment of the product, but he added that he didn't know if that applied to big box stores too.

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.

I heard that they had 2 printings scheduled but will keep going until they aren't selling anymore. It's like a minimum of 2.... maybe?

nice for you people stateside, but for international markets, like in my country in particular, the national distributor isnt sure whether or not theyll carry the product again hahaha
The weirdest thing is not that flusterstorm and chaos warp are 20 each while the deck is 30, but rather, why is political puppets cheaper than most, if not all, the other decks? Just last night on channelfireball, political puppets was 35, while the other commander precons were 40.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!
Yeah, I was wondering that too. The local store here has sold out of all of the sets at 34.99 except for a few of the political puppets sets. Seems like it's the least popular set around here.
My LGS had a couple of political puppets for 30 each, while beig sold out of heavenly inferno at 50 each. There was one left of the rest Mirror mastery for 45 each, counterpunch for 35, and devour for 40.

But that makes no sense at all! Chaos Warp, Flusterstorm, Propaganda, Ghostly Prison, Sol Ring, Lightning Greaves... that totals what, almost 60?
Maybe EDH players just don't like money. That would explain why they banned all the moxen.
I like money, but in order to sell the cards in Political Puppets I would have to spend time and money to post them to ebay and the $30-$40 up front. Then how much would I get for all those cards? $50-$60?
For what it's worth, those cards are really only worth about $35.
Indeed. Chaos Warp and Flusterstorm seem to range between $10-$15 each (so we'll call it $12 each), ghostly prison, propaganda, and lightning greaves add up to about $7-$8, and Sol ring is going for about $5. So thats about $36-$40 on average. If you take ebay fees into consideration for the stuff you can easily sel, you would be looking at getting between $30-$32 for those cards.
Its also probably the least popular deck in general for people to buy to play with. Its a fun deck, but its also a tad unconventional, and not everyone likes that sort of deck.
There's the idea that a card's value is whatever you can get for it in cash, and that's entirely incorrect. A card's value is not only what you can get for it in cash, but what utility it has in competitive and casual play. The other decks may be worth something in casual play, but political puppets far outranks that in both its monetary and competitive values. That being said, you may not buy cards just to resell them, but political puppets is still more valuable than the other decks. So why is it sold for less?

I thought the general consensus was that this was one of the weaker decks competitively (if not the weakest), thus, the reason why it sits on shelves despite having some hyped cards in it.
