This is probably an odd question and hopefully not against the forum rules, but IF I were to list some stuff on ebay, what is the ideal time for that auction to end?
I know that matters quite a bit, I grabbed a cd worth well over $50+ a couple weeks ago because it went off very early friday morning.
Also, is a 7th edition foil Hurricane worth anything?
I have found the best reception is Saturday before mid day. Even late Friday nights (11PMish) as I try to target guys just coming home from their FNM/on a Magic kick the next day.
I think you were trying to sell the 7th Hurricane on here before? I need one for EDH, but personally the reason I didn't move on it was because I'd rather have a 10E. I think most people will feel the same, but I know there are a few who prefer classic border foils to the facelift. Also, 7ED foils are hard to come by. "Worth anything"? Not like a Daze is, but I'd still try to get a good $5-$8 out of it unless you just want it gone.
As for times, primetime on most nights, but a sunday night would be ideal.
On the contrary, i'm wondering if auctions that end between 6-9pm PDT on fridays end lower simply because north american players are at FNM and it's very early morning for the Europeans to stay up on them. Will have to check out the ending auctions when i'm unable to go to FNM and see...
From what I can gather as long as the auction doesn't end at a funky time. I try to shoot for the afternoons PDT. That way I get pretty good coverage. I definitely avoid friday nights, although Moose has a good idea and can see his reasoning.
I have read that Sunday and Monday evenings are the best times to end auctions because it's statistically when the most people are on the internet at any time during the week. It gets the east and west coast web surfers after work and before bedtime.
I definitely would not end on Friday or Saturday night. Lots of folks are out at events or shopping or hanging out with friends or doing something other than browsing the web by themselves.
Now, we're actually dealing with when the most Magic buyers are on the internet at once, but I see no reason to believe their browsing habits are that much different from the average buyer of anything.
