I just bought an iPhone today and want to buy a MTG application. Life tracking is a must, keeping track of games/notes would be a plus, and gatherer would be great. Most importantly, I'm looking for a polished presentation and ease of use.
What does everyone use before I drop some cash on it?
Bought TCGBuddy, by far it is the most useful application. It has almost everything that Sylvan Archives has (the only other real competitor), but in a much, much more polished form. All it lacks is a deck builder and gatherer function built in. A deckbuilder is excessive to me on an iphone application, plus there are free apps to download. It's search link to the gatherer website is more than sufficient as well.
I think I've probably tried them all by now - there is still definitely a need for a good consolidated app and, most of all, some way to track game/deck stats. Here's my picks for the best in each category:
Deckbuilder: MTG Deck Builder. Definitely the best in this category. Stable, regularly updated, full text search and offline image browsing.
Gatherer: iGather. New, excellent and FREE!
Database: MTG DB. By the same guy as Deckbuilder with similar features.
Life Tracker: MageHand. Settled on this after trying a ton of others. Simple, elegant and maintains W/L records. Wish there was a way to use your own avatar, though.
Other free apps of note: ChaosMagic - very elegant Planechase app; Deck Lists - grabs Tweeter decklist feeds, best I can tell.
Ones to avoid IMHO: Sylvan Archives and its component parts (MTG Deck Manager, etc.). Good idea and potential, but elements are hugely flawed or just downright broken and unclear how often, or even if, developer is still supporting.
I have Verizon/Android and the 2 best apps I like are Magic TG Tracker and Mana Math...
MTG Tracker-Allows you to track life totals mana and also has a "tourney" style set up allows you to track time and wins/losses. Also has a card search and create a deck. The create a deck is still in early stages but nice to have on the go.
Mana Math- I got this due to being new to the game and to help with drafting. What it does is tells u how many of each land you should take depending on your CMC. My brother who has played for years says a good player shouldn't need it but oh well I like it.
If I find any others worth mentioning I will post.

HTH.
iGather is more than excellent. Thanks a ton!
ChaosMagic doesn't seem to be avaliable in the US or something, anyone knows why I can't get a hold of it?
Those apps all rock. ive used them for a while (except the java one)
Now we just want need winMO one for android.
for android im using mtgTracker currently.
Thinkin about gettin MTGscribe and MTG spy glass. for my annie-droid. (Gomu Gomu is the producer) they make them for the iphone too. best looking app ive seen yet. (0ther than slightlymagic's which blow even the paid softwares away. Almost stuck with WinMO just for that app)
yes indeed it is. Your only competition is Decked because that app is more smooth and deck/card management is a bit easier, however you can't organize trade binder, need, and want in Decked and your app has pretty much everything that's necessary in an app (although I think your card rulings are a bit lacking; no rulings for Tezzerett, Agent of Bolas? Come on).

I would try Mega Card Trick - if anything for how clever the thing is! I still have it on my iPad as it's such a good laugh with friends.
