Earlier in a multiplayer game of EDH an opponent cast Mimic Vat, and with the trigger for my Guile shuffling on the stack, he exiled it with his Vat. A handful of turns later - still with Guile imprinted - I lost. I was under the impression that due to it being imprinted he would still be able to make Guile tokens, is this correct?
In an eight player game, is anything good? Don't you just sit there countering combos until someone genesis waves for 42 after all the blue players tap out fighting over a bribery?

No, your Guile ceases to exist when you lose and is no longer imprinted on his mimic vat.

When you leave the game, all objects owned by you leave the game. The exiled Guile is an object owned by you, so it will leave as well. If activated, the Mimic Vat looks for an exiled card and doesn't find anything, so the ability will do nothing. (Of course he can exile something else when something else dies...)

No. Imprint needs the card to stay in exile for it to reference it in the future. When you left the game, so did your Guile, therefore it wasn't in exile and the Vat can't cook up any Guile anymore.

Just out of curiosity, then, why does a Duplicant retain it's characteristics of the thing it imprinted? Should the Mimic Vat remember what it imprinted?

If the card imprinted leaves the exile zone, it doesn't.
