Say my opponent has a Knight of the Reliquary in play with no lands in his graveyard yet. I attack with any 4/4 creature. Can he declare his Knight blocking my creature, then tap his Knight and use his ability to put a land in his graveyard to make his Knight a 5/5 creature, killing my own but allowing his to live?
Nothing in this game is degenerate or completely dominant. They haven't banned anything in standard in a long, long time. Hell they should have banned affinity right away, but they didn't until boxed sales collapsed too. Hasbro had to come in and fire people.
I'll enjoy watching all the whiners eat crow monday.
Yes, this works. Tapping will not remove the Knight from combat.
Edit: True, if there were no lands in the graveyard to start with it would only be a 3/3. He can still use the ability, even if it doesn't pump it enough to save his guy.
He can, but i don't see how putting a single land in his graveyard makes the Knight a 5/5?
For the sake of argument. say there are 2 lands in his graveyard. His opponent attacks with a 4/4. He blocks then taps to add another land making it a 5/5. Does the 5/5 kill the 4/4 now?

Black Lotus, is really expensive.
Trinisphere came a long and made it completely worthless.
That's the only reason why it's restricted.
I think An undercover Yu-Gi-Oh agent got a temp job at WOTC. He made this card and it somehow slipped through the cracks. His main objective was to bring down the Magic Empire. Then he tapped himself and disappeared.

Well, assuming it's also a 4/4 before he uses its ability, it doesn't matter when he uses it. If he puts damage on the stack, there will be two 4/4s each assigning lethal to the other. Then he can tap it and make it a 5/5, big enough to survive the impending damage.
